In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Inquiry S&S exotic animals inc. Texas

They can not sex horned frogs either! Ordered a albino female and got a male. Never called to complain just excepted it and moved on with life.

i wouldn't buy from them i been to there store. i saw no hides or heating for the snakes. as i walked out i over her them discussing shipping price which they didn't know what to tell a customer so they just guessed what ever was highest..

I just got a anery motley from them and it was 600 on sale for 500 (saw the add on Facebook) so I said hell ill give them a try. Called them up they said 590 total with same day delivery. I said hell yeah.I'm thinking great deal. Until I picked up the mot at the airport. No heat pack (I'm in Alaska) she was in a bag in a huge box with a few shreds of paper. And she was very cold. I rushed her home and put her in her cage to get warmed up. Watched her closely the next day I saw bubbles coming out her nose she made gargle sounds and has mites. I know the mites came from her due to the fact none of my boas ever had mites ever. I called them and the owner told me NO SHE WILL NOT HELP OR DO ANYTHING DUE TO THE MOTLEY IS 2 years old and its not her problem. I said what cuz she is 2 years old she can't get sick (R.I) or have mites. She said they don't have mites in her store so they must be from my place. So now I'm treating all my cages for mites and had to take the mot to the vet. So in all after the 590. Already spent on her I have a 200 vet bill. And 50 in mite control and 100 in new bedding (when I'm sure all the mites have died off). I would never buy anything from them again. Not even if its a $1.00 for a $10,000 boa due to the fact it might be infected with something new that will kill off my collection. Save your money and buy from someone that will stand my there boas.

TERRIBLE!! Cannot believe someone would sell another person a snake sick like that. And knowing it.

I think when this many complaints are made about a person/company and proved, that Fauna should ban them. Why let people constantly sell sick animals to us.
Not sure why fauna doesnt get involved when people sell sick reptiles over and over without any concern and just dont care. BAN THEM !! IMO

Fauna is here for information look-up and research. Its up to us as responsible people to research prospective buyers and sellers and traders, and decide for ourselves, based on our gut instinct and research, to buy, sell or trade with said potential other party.

not going to happen.

Maybe I'm mistaken but I don't think they have ever sold animals on this site. I don't even think they have a user name here.

I have never seen them post here.

I'm correct. Looking at all their previous threads, every complaint has to do with purchases that were made in store, on their website, at shows and on another classified website. None were purchased off a ad on this site.

Maybe you should try talking to the show promoters or seeing if you have any luck with Jeff at KS. Let's us know how you fair.

Ouch! Textbook reason why I don't/won't go to a Reptile Show... Not even to walk around! Sorry.

:iagree:
I also hate mites which it seems runs rampant at the shows. I have been to 4 shows 4-5 years ago looking to buy my 1st sunglow for a good penny. Loaded with mites as were several other breeders boa's. Never been to a show since.

I can see valid arguments of both sides. But i guess that its best to keep them in the open to watch.

SandS

i purchased a brazilian rainbow from them off king snake a few years ago. the snake looked very nice in the picture. it arrived and instantly started sneezing, weezing, discharge from nose and mouth. it was covered in bites from feeders. instantly called and asked for a refund in full. the owener at the time(i believe her name was Suzette) said for me to pay to ship the snake back and she would refund the amount of the snake. it gets better(worse), the snake wasnt even the same snake in the picture. no where close. she didnt even dispute that. i ended up keeping the snake(it would have died during shiping or as soon as it got back into their care) for about a week before she passed away. ever since then, and i urge everyone to look at their KS ads, SandS started to include : "this is a picture of the actual animal you are purchasing". i would not refer anyone to that company and cant believe some of the more expensive animals they advertise.

Look at their terms of sale also. They could per their terms send out a dead animal and as long as it arrived they held up their end. Thats just ridiculous!

Agree.

Back in April, I went to the store to pick up a female candy cane corn snake. I saw an ad on KS and since I live in the Houston area, I decided to go and have a look. The store itself was cramped and filthy. There was a small 30gal tank with 30+ baby iguanas. The snake cages were not heated and in one 10 gal tank, there were 7 corn snake babies. I asked the guy (it was an African American guy who's at all the Repticon shows) if he still had any candy canes for sale. He said they were sold out, so I picked out an okeetee female. She looked healthy. No mites, no bites, good weight. She was very small (only 5g) so I asked the guy if she was eating regularly (I wanted to make sure that she wasn't fresh out of the egg with no meals in her). He stated that she had been fed three times with him personally feeding her. He said that he was feeding her live pinkies, but that she hadn't been fed in two weeks since they were out of pinky mice. I reluctantly bought her for $30 and took her home. I was skeptical about the "no refund policy" but I figured I wouldn't need it because she visibly looked healthy.

I got her settled into her new home and let her be for about a week before I offered her a frozen/thawed pinky mouse. She gobbled it up. Sadly, she regurgitated two days later. The mouse was still fully formed. I waited ten days and ordered extra small pinkies online. When they arrived, I tried to feed her a frozen/thawed extra small pinky mouse. Like before, she regurgitated a fully formed pinky mouse. Both times, the mice were not digested, but were rotting inside her belly and thus why she regurgitated.

I promptly made an appointment with my vet (who treats snakes) and they took a fecal culture. She didn't have any parasites. The vet was stumped as to why she wasn't digesting. He sent me home and told me to try one more time. Ten days later, I offered her another extra small pinky and sadly, she regurgitated this one two days later as well. At a loss, I made another appointment with the vet to have her euthanized. I could not allow her to suffer anymore.

After Lilly (as I named her the day I got her) passed, I called the store to ask about a refund. They did offer to replace her, but I kindly told them that I didn't want another snake from them since I was led to believe Lilly was eating regularly for them when in fact, she did not have the ability to digest (for whatever reason). I simply hung up the phone. Every time I see them at reptile shows now, I kindly walk in another direction and won't even stop to look at their tables. I cannot support a business that can't even sell animals that feed well.

I have posted information on these guys on the Bp.net forums and it's relevant here. S&S is no place to do business with locally or nationally via facebook or Kingsnake. When I've gone into the store in the past (most recent being May of this year just to see if things had changed) I was disgusted by their husbandry and animals well being. Most of the snakes were dehydrated, overcrowded, no water in the bowls, and had little pepper spots on them - yes mites so bad it was visual. In the monitor enclousres, their lizards were exposed to various bugs in their cage (not sure on species), no UV, and very very thin tails.

Their birds were a different story - far worse. Parrots were plucking feathers out due to distress and cramped conditions. Many of their birds were not banned leading me to believe they participate in the parrot trade of wild parrots.

When I brought concerns to the staff, I was quickly dismissed as being uneducated and ignorant to proper keeping. They had listed some Jaguar carpet pythons, I then asked to see those, the man proceeded to bring me a Jungle Carpet Python mix that had no jag gene present. When I explained this is not a jag, but a mutt Jungle, the man told me he knows all about the morphs personally and assures me this was indeed a jag. I proceeded to pull out my i-device and show him images of my own Jaguars so he can see, and I was still dismissed.

When I got out of the store I did shower and change at a friends home who does not keep snakes before returning to my own. Anyone considering S&S should look into it very well. The only thing it seems you are guarenteed with from this store is mites and stress.

Cheers,

A call to local Animal Control may bring some results. Places like this need to be shut down.

That pic of that poor bird is heartbreaking, to say the least! :(

I have seen their tables at the NARBC show in Arlington. Yes, I literally would not walk 20 feet near their area.

Calls to the SPCA in the area seem to be of no avail. I dont think they even check because everything stays the same or worse. Someones palm is getting greased or they have relatives working there. What a shame because so many people give to the cause of the well being of animals. I ask America how does this continue

I dont know the owners of S and S at all. They are friends of a friend of mine, but I have never met them or directly done business with them or been to their store. With that said, my friend was at their store and called me to tell me that they had brought in a large shipment from Indonesia, as they do quite often, and they had a bunch of really nice green tree pythons. he called to see if I wanted any chondros as he was going to buy some while he was there. I told him I would take half a dozen.

He shipped the snakes to me a couple days later with a bunch of other stuff we were trading back and forth. I got them in and all 6 chondros were beautiful, healthy, free of mites and very well started juveniles. They all ended up eating great for me and I resold them over the next several months. I was very pleased with them and would certainly buy more in the future.

From what I have read they likely have the same problem that many pet stores do and have a tough time finding capable and willing, hard working employees for $8-10 an hour. It is something that has always really plagued the retail pet trade. You hire people and after they get good and knowledgable at their job they leave for more money or graduate from high scool or college or some other scenario where they go on to something else. E
