In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I recently picked up a pair of "proven breeder" females at a show and I think one of them may be crazy. We've all seen crazy females before so it stands to reason that theory could carry over into snakes ;)

On a serious note I've never seen a female react like this but my breeding experience with snakes is almost nill. Hoping someone could give me a hand with this girl. She seems fine and acts normal until you put a male around her. Once a male is introduced to her bin so panics and tries everything possible to get out of there. So far she has not been aggressive towards the males but is absolutely frantic about getting away. I've tried 3 different males over a few weeks and she reacts the same every time. I tried putting a female in her bin just to see what would happen and she was fine. This worried me so I double checked that I didn't get ripped off and buy a male... thankfully everything checked out as female.

My only theory at this point is she is a late season female that laid recently and wants nothing to do with the boys for awhile. Hoping someone can give me advice on what to do with this girl. Anyone seen this before?

How recently is recently? You really need to give that snake some time to adjust to its new surroundings before you try to breed her. I purchased a proven breeder female three years ago and it took her a full year to actually settle down, start feeding regularly, and breed. You also shouldn't be trusting any animal you pick up at a reptile show to be free of disease. A 30-day quarantine at the minimum should always be enforced, with 60-days preferable.

Some females will fight or escape if they're not ready to breed. I have a virgin pastel who hates my male spider's guts; they do a full blown snake-battle wrestling match unless she's actually receptive. Smaller males she'll either ignore or just lay on top of them.

One thing that is certain about ball pythons... you go at their own pace or not at all. They won't feed or breed unless they're absolutely comfortable with their entire living situation.

Question 2 is does crazy here look like a yellow belly to you?

You sure u got a breeding pair and not 2 males. How did you sex the snake pop or probe? That does not look like a yb.

I don't see the yellowbelly in your snake, Kim. Yellowbellies do vary, but almost always they will have a checkerboard speckling along the sides of their bellies. Looks normal to me.

Sounds to me that the snake is stressed. I wouldn't hold her or do anything but clean her cage and feed and water her for several weeks.

If it thrashes around when paired with a male I would seriously consider getting a second opinion on the sex of the snake. This is the behavior of 2 males that you described.

My farm raised female at 6 years old was still not ready to breed. Introduce a male and they would bang around in the tub, you would think it was mortal combat but she was just not interested. Last year she was finally ready at 7 years old, and bred successfully for the first time. 3393 grams before hooking up, she gave me 10 perfect eggs for her first clutch.
