For all those that are confused about what to look for in a yellowbelly, or for those that question the Normal they just bought, this thread is for you.

Pic 1: This is my female Goblin, notice the flames coming up, and the blushing along her sides and onto her dorsal aspect.

Pic 2: This is her belly, notice the yellow tinge and the checkered pattern outlining her ventral portion of her body.

Pic 3: This is a Het Red Axanthic female, this is her belly. Het red bellies do tend to vary. This is Not a yellowbelly.

Pic 4: This is the belly of my Fire male. This is Not a yellowbelly

Pic 1: This is my male Pastel Yellowbelly.

Pic 2: This is his belly, notice the checkered pattern outlining his ventral portion.

Pic 3: And lastly, this is the belly of a female Normal. She does not have the prime checkered pattern that defines the yellowbelly gene.

It's not uncommon for even seasoned ball python people to be confused with the yellowbelly gene, not sure why the thread except maybe people continually ask if their snake is a yb?
Let's not make people gun shy about asking if their snake is "something", hopefully that's not the intention of this :)

Of course not, I just figured I could help out others by showing a few different bellies, just to act as a small guide if anyone needs it

Nice, what was the pairing?
My new line of yellowbelly X yellowbelly.
Produced 2 ivory males and 3 yb females and 2 normals of which we kept 2 yb females.
The one we sold looks like the one pictured on the left and the other one, she just glows compared to them and has some crazy white stuff going on along the lower sides.
I don't think anything special is going on, she just has a different look about her.
same girl ...

Hmm, theres nothing wrong with a new line! Personally I tend to see similarities among yellowbellies within the same line. Like Amir's line being a bit brighter, and RDR line being a bit darker. So a new line can spice thing up a bit

That yb is smokin, almost looks like a hint of some paint in there. Very nice
Thanks!
I've been told numerous times she looks like a yb paint, she should make breeding weight late next season since she's about 800 grams now.
Not sure what to expect other than some smokin hot yb combo's :yesnod:

I have some more photos but I need to dig them up. They aren't on my Photobucket account.

The top pic is the most recent and its old. She's amazing. I'll be making Vanilla Yellow Belly het Hypo with her this season. Her sister is going to make Pastel Yellow Belly het Hypo. Took a long time to find clean YBs like those two. Got to love YB and what they do to anything they are bred with. It's one of the best utility genes out there.

Regards,

B

Jerry that YB of yours rocks big time. I just love the variations in this gene.
