In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I'm pretty sure Outback Reptile's is scamming people. They are coming up with fake morphs and selling them for high prices. Lying and are only in the reptile business for money. That's it. I mean correct me if I'm wrong, but I know for a fact that they are scamming people. 2 years ago I purchased a gravid female Savannah Monitor from them, I got it and it was small and had NO eggs. That's just ONE thing. The main thing that made me post this was their so called "Pastel Savannah Monitor"

Ok, I understand your frustration, but you need to post proof if you are going to accuse someone of scamming. Do you have pictures of the savannah monitor that was supposed to be gravid? What is the story with the supposed fake morphs- do you have proof of that?
I've known the guys at Outback for years, and while they definitely do ruffle feathers by selling things at low prices others can't match, I wouldn't call them scammers. I'm not very up on monitor knowledge, but what are they claiming the genetics to be on these "pastel" monitors? Is it supposed to be reproducible, or just a variation that occurs randomly- there seems to be a lot of variability in savannah monitor coloration to me.

I've done plenty of business with them over the years, and would happily give them more business.

What action did you take when the Monitor arrived and you realized that it was not what had been described to you, and what was Outback Reptile's response? Any emails or written correspondence would help as well.

The main thing that made me post this was their so called "Pastel Savannah Monitor"

Are you talking about the "pastel" from their October 16, 2012 ad? Clearly I would agree that the Savannah pictured looks like any other young generic Savannah and will most likely darken out with age ... so calling it a "pastel" is really a stretch, IMO. Pricing it at $750.00 shipped? Yeah, okay :ack2:

Beside which, Josh (or whomever) didn't even spell Savannah correctly, so what do you expect?

As for your Savannah purchase 2 years ago; frankly, any vendor offering/selling/shipping an animal that even MAY be gravid is unethical (again, IMO), so for that reason alone I wouldn't conduct business with them.

I'm curious as well about what action you took after you received the so-called gravid female, Outback's response, etc.

Curious where this is going...would like to start seeing emails/screen caps etc of ads and any communication with these people.

I'm surprised you need all the proof. All you need to do is look at their posts. I'm surprised most of you don't know about how bad they are. I looked through my emails and I can't find the old emails from 2 years ago.

I wouldn't call that a scam. It's a high price for something that may just end up being a bright normal, but they're not claiming it's a morph or anything. :shrug01:

In so many words yes they are. They are giving the impression that it is.

"She is a very bright cream colored animal that is like nothing else I have seen in a long time. Her eyes appear jet black, with a slight green tint when you get her in the right lighting.

A truly amazing animal, she will be a huge animal to have in a collection if she proves genetic."

The key words here are "...if she proves genetic."

It doesn't look to me as if they are claiming she is a morph. They are not even claiming that her traits are genetic. They're just saying that she's a bright wild caught female that might end up being a morph.

Doesn't sound like a very credible "bad guy" post to me. I mean, who waits 2 years to make a post about it?! I have done business with them before and wouldn't hesitate to do so again. The animals I got were top notch.

I dunno if you're new here or what but you cant just come on here screaming 'Outback's a scammer!!" and not provide any proof. Its just not gonna work.

I have purchased animals over the last two years and the quality has been excellent. I also checked the BOI, there was some question as to the health of the animals they sold. So I proceeded to have my herp vet check the animals within the first 24 hrs. The bottom line was that they were healthy. It is the responsibility of the buyer to have animals checked if there is any question as to the health, sex, etc.
