    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Experience with Outback Reptiles

I have answered every question, I have not exaggerated one bit.

I actually appreciate some of the things that were said, cause it helped me look at things differently, secondly I don't have an attitude but I'm glad you can tell over text.

Am I upset, yes, maybe I'm am a little defensive, but I'm not trying to, just still pissed.

I don't think you can say that none can see anything. Some may immediately agree with you and some may not. Everybody reading this thread will take some conclusion away. Even if you supplied perfect evidence of what you state here, there is no guarantee that everyone is going to believe without a doubt and not ask questions. Just because someone states something doesn't mean it is fact and it most certainly doesn't mean they speak for everyone.

It is always good thing to ask questions. I understand your upset but you know, a lot of the time those making accusations can be wrong too. Sometimes they lie.

You get a better understanding of the situation as a thread progresses.

You know sometimes mistakes happen. It doesn't make one a bad guy automatically. It is how you deal with a situation.

Wes made a great observation that goes to this. If we didn't ask questions or ask for proof somethings would never be picked up.

This is how people come to a understanding of who is posting. It's not an attack but fair dialogue.
 
I hope you understand that if someone came on and stated you were a liar and no good to do business with, the members here would be just as vigilant in asking your accuser questions and seeking proof.
 
Certain people in this industry do the same stuff over and over again and they some what seem to go on with business unscathed. You are not the first person to post of dealing like this. I have had bad business with him as well. Sorry you had this experience. What is the standard way of measuring turtles? Is it shell tip to tip?

I seem to be repeating myself.

I needed tortoises of size, stated in my email, also stated
Was the previous good experience purchasing from him before.

Smaller tortoises were not needed

I appreciate SOME of the replys.

No I have never received an email back.
The way I was taught was either shell up, or using two blocks and on each end
And measure between blocks, head and tail is not included in the measurement.

Now it's your wife's fault you lied to Josh?

And it's Josh's fault you didn't ask for better pictures than the ones you saw?

I'm also not so sure that one inch will make a significant difference in how soon a male redfoot will breed. He's almost 7 now, you wanted 8. Fed properly you're a year off. Of course if he really was 5 to 6 inches, as YOU claimed, then you'd be justified in your anger.

However, for whatever reason, at whoever's fault (nice job throwing the wife under the bus instead of just saying you spoke too soon too, something of a pattern with you I think) you have behaved no better than the guy you're mad at: in fact, you are two side of the same coin in this one. It wouldn't surprise me if Josh was relying on someone else's measurements himself while he should have verified with his own eyes. But, I don't suppose you took that into consideration.

Still C-'s all around, but I could see lowering that grade real soon if things don't get straightened out properly.
 
Clearly you were sold animals that were misrepresented. I did see the fact that he mentioned TOTAL length, but, if that is not a standard measurement method(which I'm sure Josh is familiar with) then you deserve a refund. Wether or not Josh knew of the way to measure a turtle, they are not the size stated according to industry standards. My opinion is to not sell something with measurements if you do not know or understand the standards that you are using. Josh did this with some frogs he sold somebody recently and because he didn't "know" of certain standards it was ok. Of course my response was why deal in animals you don't know. That clearly makes somebody a flipper in my eyes(to take something on trade that you do not deal in and turn around and sell it). Wether or not that is the case is here, it is not OK in my eyes. Just my 2 cents.
 
It is an industry standard on how to correctly measure tortoises. I am sure Josh knows the correct way to measure them. I have purchased from him over the last couple of years. Fortunately, all animals have been spot on. I feel that perhaps a more tactful approach would get more results?

You seriously need to lose the attitude, otherwise people are going to lose patience with you. The BOI is basicaly a version of herp court, you are going to get questioned and asked for evidence. I realize your situation is frustrating but taking out your anger on people here will only do you more harm than good.

That being said, I do believe you deserve a refund or exchange for an apropriate size tort. I would also recommend not being so trusting in the future and ask for current pics of the animal. If the seller refuses to give you those pics then dont buy from them.
 
James, I just got into the office and saw the pic that you sent me next to the larger animal. (My phone would not open the pic, and I was off yesterday), I sent you an email let me know where you want to go from there when you get my email.

In the future please give us a call to discus any issues, or at least give me time to get back to you, as Saturday is unusually the only day I get off so am out with my family and do not get to reply until Sunday to any pictures as I do not have a computer at my house.
