In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Hello,

this seller, Joseph Simison has a snake I am interested in purchasing. Has any one done any business with him before?

thanks for your help,

Janet Kovacic

Did you ever make the transaction? If so how was your experience? I found him to be a bit questionable and decided that I would not chance doing business with him. I just wasn't comfortable with his lack of communication.

Egads,
Its been so long ago, thankfully I saved the emails. I did not go throught with the transaction. I had asked for contact info for a reference he stated he did business with and stated I cannot do money orders, with the exception of postal money orders. I was interested in a Jag male carpet python. He stopped contacting me, never was able to check out his reference. So, I bought my Jag male elsewhere.

I purchased a male Mojave from him a couple years ago. He arrived to me with the worst respiratory infection I have ever witnessed. He was no help at all and wouldn't refund me or anything. Just thought I'd let you know.

Just to clarify, the buyer of the Mojave ball python lives in Alaska, and did not inform me of this until after I agreed to a price. The snake took 2 days to arrive and would have died had I not packaged it properly.

What time of the year did you ship?
Was the box insulated?
Did you use heat packs?
2 days transit should not cause a severe resp infection on a healthy snake.

Something isn't adding up with your story.

I believe it was during the fall where I live in Kansas, and I recall checking the temperatures, and definitely used a well insulated box with heat packs due to below freezing conditions. I agreed to very low price with shipping included before the buyer told me his location. Communication was done via email. I'll have to check, but I wasn't contacted immediately about the snakes respiratory problems until some time after it was delivered. I think it's entirely possible that an animal can develop problems if left in a sorting center or the back of a truck all day in such cold temperatures.

I don't "flip" or sell reptiles for profit, just the animals I don't need for my breeding plans. I thought the BOI was used to spread information about people that have wronged someone, and I really don't feel I fit into that category. I treat people as I want to be treated and value my reputation enough to post a reply.

Best regards

The boi is here to post all pertinent information about an individual and their business practices.

Why would yo ship a snake if the conditions were so bad that they jeopardized the snake's life? You could have politely declined because of the extreme conditions and no one would have found fault in that.

Unless you knowingly used a slower, sub-par shipping method to offset any losses incurred from your own lack of forethought in factoring actual shipping cost into the final price, I don't understand the relevance of bringing that up. Unless the buyer was made aware of a TOS that specifically stated that there was no health guarantee, their location doesn't make any difference. As the seller/shipper, you're liable for providing an animal that arrives in its described condition.

Obviously, neither of you have posted any verifiable proof of what you're saying, so I'm just pointing out that I think your argument is moot, no matter what the details may be. If the snake arrived sick, and the buyer didn't previously absolve you of any responsibility, it's on you.

I'm curious as to how soon you were contacted about the RI...

Was this same day the buyer received the snake? A few days later? A week or more?

If you can post the actual emails it would help alot. You might very well have nothing to worry about if the buyer reported an RI days later.

Exactly. If the snake arrived with the issue, then I would question the health when it left the seller. If it was a week or so later, I would question the buyers husbandry.

The reason I find it hard to believe that a healthy snake developed a severe resp infection from being in transit for 2 days is because I had an issue years ago (way back when with DHL) where they lost a shipment I sent out in the middle of winter. It finally arrived at the buyer 4 days after I shipped it. The 60 hour heat packs had expired by then but other than being a little cold, the snake was fine.

I contacted the moment I received him. And I was never told he was coming on a 2 day shipment (as I can remember). I thought he was shipping him next day and he never arrived. I grew super worried. Then that night I received the tracking number. I've always had all my snakes arrive safe and sound on one day shipments. And it was early June when I got him.

He also told me that he had an RI a few months ago. Which he did not inform me about that till after I got him.

Are you saying that after you received the snake, the seller informed you that it had had a respiratory infection a few months before you bought it? A pre-existing infection that wasn't 100% cured could explain how severe symptoms could manifest themselves after the 2 days it spent in-transit. Don't suppose you still happen to have any of the emails? What was the seller's shipping method? Was it a Priority Overnight shipment that simply got delayed, or did he choose a different service?

Yes that's what I'm stating. I received it, told him he was sick, and he said he had one a few months before. Unfortunately, since it was a couple years ago I don't think I have the emails anymore. I'm not sure what he chose for shipping. I thought it was coming next day, But it never arrived. Then I got the tracking number that night. That was the first time I've ever had a problem with having a snake shipped.

Unless you put the emails in the trash, you should still have them. I'd at least make an effort to look, as it would go a long way toward substantiating your claims.

Neither the seller or the receiver have any proof of their story??

Also curious as to why the seller didnt feel the need to address the first two posters about his bad communication.

In my experience, "overnight" shipments to/from Alaska take two days. I suppose that is dependant on the starting point; but FedEx shows that information pretty clearly, so there is no reason for either party to have been surprised.
