In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Not happy with Tom Carlton at Cypress Creek Reptiles

I prefer socks for smaller snakes, the long and skinny shape is conducive to tying knots for smaller animals. I don't see where using a new from package sock is particularly unprofessional. The two day air is completely unacceptable.

two days not acceptible. as for using a sock or pillow case i myself would not use a sock but a pillow case is a perfect replacement for a snake bag

Ok but would you want to buy from someone who talks to customers like that?

No!!
Yet again, we have a seller who seems to thinks he can speak to customers in any vulgar manner he wishes, and all anyone is supposed to care about is money. What if your grocer or car dealer called you a f***ing p***k? Would this be okay, as long as the merchandise was delivered? I think not.

As for the sock, it's unprofessional, but not a deal breaker. If he really was not responsible for the 2-day shipping, he should profusely apologize and refund the difference in whatever was paid for shipping. But the vile language in response to a customer complaint? Not okay!

Just for clarification - how much did you pay for shipping?
While I'm not supporting the use of second day service, you aren't really due a refund if you didn't pay for overnight service.

Also when did FedEx allow us to use tape to tie off a snake bag (Or the Sock in this case). When I got Certified to ship live animals with FedEx the only thing I was told I could use by FedEx was a ziptie?

They state anything can be used so long the bag is properly sealed off, by using tape, ziptie, or rubber band.

If he was told its being shipped overnight as the email states by next morning, regardless what he paid, he deserves the refund back as he clearly marked 2nd day to get some more pocket change.

Fair enough - for whatever reason, I'm not seeing the email; so I'll take your word that overnight shipping was indicated (rather than expected).

At least the sock was clean!! I have no doubt socks (and pillow cases) work in a pinch, but come on...invest in shipping bags and make sure to have enough on hand.

I would not want my snakes showing up in socks! Looks cheesy and very unprofessional.
And second day reptile shipping should not be allowed. IMO
I would not deal with him myself after this. Especially after the email he sent being mad when it had nothing to do with the buyer.
I think buyer is right. At least it made it. Watch out for athletes feet from the sock.

The sock is just the icing on the cake after the 2nd day shipping garbage. A small detail that wouldn't matter otherwise, but in this situation illustrates how willing the seller is to cut corners to save a dollar.

First email ill type it out for ya.

One of the largest breeders of boa constrictors uses brand new, never used tube socks to ship neonate and juvenile boas. Many other breeders had adopted the practice as well. There is nothing wrong with shipping a snake in a clean, unused sock with proper packaging.

I do not know why people keep throwing fits over this.

As for the two day shipping, I would be interested to see proof that the OP paid for overnight as well. While two day is never acceptable, if you did not pay for overnight, you are owed nothing.

As I stated, First email states the seller said It will be there Tomorrow, Indicating HE is shipping next day. So regardless what he paid, snake arrived 2 day when he said next day in email

I was posting when you were and did not see it until afterward.

Either way, if he was led to believe he was getting overnight shipping but still only paid for 2nd day, it's a grey area. What exactly would the seller owe him?

The seller no doubt is someone to avoid since he blames FedEx for marking 2nd Day Shipping and seeing how he responded to the buyer being upset. I also doubt the seller is FedEx certified and an issue, such as this (if we are to believe the FedEx counter marked it at 2nd Day, not saying we should, just saying if we are) is easily avoidable by getting labels through SYR.com. I never let FedEx counters have any control over the information to my labels. I make them and print them at my own house and just bring them the box to send off. This limits potential issues like this.

If he paid the price of 2nd day but guy said this is the price for Next day, hes owed the price of shipping for lying. I dont understand why anyone ships 2nd day, since you make the buyer pay for shipping so your never out the money. And if the guy does his sales on taxes the right way, you get all that shipping money BACK

To me it seems he just wanted to save some money. He said one thing and then shipped another way. Good thing we had the email to show. He never offered an apology at all even after I questioned the 2nd day shipping.
The OP had to take off work to be home Thursday AM when it never showed then had to ask to leave work again this AM to pick it up at fed ex hub.

I guess Jeff Ronne has been seriously unprofessional for many years. I've gotten a few snakes in new socks over the years. It isn't being cheap, it has to do with ingenuity, they make better snake bags than the cheap little stitched together cloth bags that are made for it. Anyone who thinks it's unprofessional or unhygienic to ship in NEW socks has some foot issues that they need to address or something.

The reptile hobby has always embraced adapting non-reptile specific items for uses concurrent with the needs of keeping reptiles. I'm not saying that everyone should always ship small snakes in socks, but it shouldn't be something looked down upon.

Chris

Ive posted this before elsewhere. I have no issues with Using New socks.

But some are on the fence saying if its washed its okay, but do you not realize, unless you properly maintain your washer, you're only making your cloths dirtier with germs, disease and or bacteria. So No i would never accept used or used washed socks, both are disgusting and can pass on aliments you wouldnt touch if you could see.

I'm no expert, but that sock looks like its been on someone's foot more than a few times. I would also suggest that whether one uses a zip-tie, tape, or what-not, twist the top of the sock/sack a few times, fold the top down, and secure it to itself.
