In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Inquiry USARK/Andrew Wyatt, What's the story?

So the way I see it is usark is now just a entity of zoomed ... And I'm not happy about that. I deal with Large pythons zoomed doesn't make money off large constrictors they make there money off of people with ball pythons, geckos, bearded dragon ect... So what vested stake do they have in fighting for the large animals. Please show me evidence there going to help individuals with the large constrictors I know boas will be fine because the new pres breeds them.

the truly ironic thing is that i looked at your website and you have more non big snake items for sale than you actually have in the way of large constrictors. So your position is really a bit hypocritical. I also am very alarmed about some of the things I see on your site and a bit unsettled about some of your statements and potential issues with your ethics.

to Fangme... This statement I copied from your home page is very very alarming and speaks volumes.

"So I started it, it hasn't taken off it hasn't made me rich but that's not what I'm concerned about if i only sell 5 items in a year and only make 15 dollars in a profit so be it. As long as that kid who wants that Burmese Python, Reticulated Python, Ball Python, Blood Python, Boa Constrictor, Chameleon, Alligator or whatever they can imagine gets what he wants I accomplished my Goal."

As long as that kid gets that burm, retic, boa, blood python or alligator you have accomplished your goal? yikes! your goal should be that kids don't get these things. and most chameleons are not great for kids.

Also this statement.
"All animals on this website are Captive Bred unless otherwise specified. Female animals will be labeled as such."

I see a ton of wildcaught stuff on your site that is not labeled as such. You should either label them as wildcaught or take this statemenet off your site.Short list of examples...white spot gecko, tokay, marbled, flying gecko, pygmy chameleon. These animals I know for a fact are not cb. if they are labeled wildcaught and I just don't see it than i apologize for my mistake here. but still i have a huge issue with anyone whos goal is to arm kids with retics, burms, crododillians etc.

This doesn't need to be a smear campaign. I think that's the lesson we are supposed to be learning from all this.

It's not a smear campaign. the lesson from all of this is to not to defame someones character or slander their name with lies. The post by fang me was accusuing Zoomed of not protecting big snake keepers rights. The problem is that alot of big snake keepers are not responsible or ethical and that lack of ethic or moral compass has participated in alot of the motivation for the legislations we are facing. It certainly is fuel for the groups against us. So when someone complaining about Usark not sticking up for their right because zoo med doesnt care about big snakes, has on the home page of their website that their mission is to get crocodillians and large constrictor in the hands of children thats a huge issue we should address. Not a smear campaign an alarming issue that should be addressed.

this attitude of some people in the hobby is a systemic problem in the hobby and is very widespread.Unfortunately it is prevelant in the circles of keepers of crocodillians and large constrictors.just look at craigslist ads all over the country. Noone should be protecting the rights of people who would sell dangerous animals to people who are irresponsible or too incompetent to care for them.It is not a right and we as a hobby should not stand for it. I think everyone should be able to keep just about any animal they want if they can keep them contained and give them the care they need. Unfortunately there is a demographic in the hobby that keeps these animals and doesn't house or care for them correctly. I won't apologize for my having an issue with someone whos goal is to sell kids large constrictors or crocodillians. especially when they are wanting us as a community to stand behind them and protect their right to do so.

Look, there are no simple solutions. If there was, we'd have solved everything ourselves long ago. The fact is that the field of herpetology is vast, with many aspects and many players. Not all of us have the same goals or share the same interests. But we do all have one thing in common, herpetology. And in this respect, we are all brothers and sisters. No matter what interest you have in this field, from just walking out into the woods and taking photos of your local herps all the way up to a giant manufacturer that makes millions selling supplies to herpetologist, we all share one common thing. And it's not just us either. It's the dog and cat and bird and fish people too. It's the cattle ranchers and the horse racers and fishermen and hunters. It's anyone that has any interest in animals in any way, shape or form. We are being attacked by cults, whose view is that any interaction with any animals is a sin. They want to impose their fanatic beliefs on us. All of us, world wide.

And how do they achieve this long term goal? By attacking the "weakest" of us first. So here they are, going after tigers and lions and bears and big snakes. Why? Because these are the animals that conjure up the most fear to the uneducated public. And once they concur us, they will move on to the next animals. I predict that will most likely be small animal keepers, everything from ferrets down to hamsters. They will fabricate lies about these animals, just as they are doing with big snakes now. And once they make us get rid of our gerbils, they will move on to the next animal. Eventually the United States and Europe will be pet free.

How do we stop it? Easy. Most dog and cat people don't care about us, or our snakes. That's a fact. And they aren't going to help us, because they don't perceive the threat to them yet. So, we, you and I, and everyone else involved in the field of herpetology, no matter your discipline, must take a stand, here and now. Not just for the sake of ourselves, but for everyone. We must stop the cultist here and now. We have to not only save our own hobby, but insure that it goes no further. If we can make a successful stand, right now, the march towards the rest of the animal folks will be stopped. They can't really go on if they don't eliminate the "scary dangerous" animals first. So, we are not just fighting for ourselves, but for everyone. We are all in this together, like it or not.

So, I'm not going to piss and moan about the hand we have been dealt. I'm going to support our advocates. Like it or not, these are the tools we have. So get off your asses and fight. Most of you have never donated a dime to any of our causes. That's a fact. So, shut up and get out of the way.

I've been in the field of herpetology for over 42 years, in one aspect or another. I have seen everything change over all these years, a lot for the better, and a lot not so good. I've had parents that would not allow their kids to play with me as a child because I kept snakes at my house. I've been through it all. And I'll be damned if I'm going to just lay down and let these cults tell me what I can and can't do. You can have my Burmese Python when you pry it out of my cold, dead hands. Let's all make a stand. Stand with me, stand with us. Support what we have, which is USARK, NRAAC and PJAC. Support your local rescues (if they don't have their heads up their as that is). Do something besides piss and moan.

On a side note, the guys in Ohio need money to help contest the court ruling that was not in our favor. I've sent them $100 toward this end. If everyone sent them 10 bucks, I'll bet that would be enough to pay for the challenge. We need to fight. Words are great, I love words. But actions are greater. Let's see some action. And if you just want to sit there and watch, once again, shut the :censored: up and get out of our way. We have work to do.

right there with you Ken. Nobody really knows what is really going on because of some peoples puppeteering of the hobby.I personally can't run my business in the state of California because Ambystoma are banned. We are moving to San Diego and we have to maintain our Axolotls business in Missouri. It is worth the trouble because of the income and it is a project and species we believe in very much and have too much into it to let it go plus the new morphs we have produced are only gong to go someowhere if I maintain the project. So we are moving to So Cal. oh but wait not only has the threat of aan injurious wildlife listing of all amphibian in the lacey act been stressing me the hell out for 2 years.Buit waitnow the state I am moving to has been thinking of banning frogs and turtles?Christ. The frustration over noone addressing these issues for the last 2 years has me going crazy. All my attempts to get Wyatt to do something have fallen on deaf ears. When big snake keepers needed usark they were all for it and now when we need them they want to stop support? We are all in this together. Now that there have been changes in USARK i really feel it will be the organization the hobby really needs. All of the hobby. My confidence is at an all time high with USARK. I wanted to be excited in the beginning but my radar was just not right. The only reason Wyatt ever gave me the time of day was because people he respected respected me. USARK has my full support now.We are all under attack not just big snake keepers.

At the NRAAC conference this past fall, we got the chance to meet, speak and comment to the people that actually make these laws. I met and personally spoke to the woman that is the head of the injurious animal division of USFWS. In my opinion, this woman is our main threat. She's the one that pushed the python ban, and she's the one that's pushing the amphibian ban. Gary Bagnell was also there, along with other industry leaders. It was an eye-opening conference to say the least. I got inside info from the lead vet for the CDC about baby turtles too, and ways to combat this ban and possibly win. I'm going to explore these options when I have a bit more time.

Dr Dante Fenolio gave a presentation on the fungus plage that has swept the world and has a direct correlation to the proposed amphibian ban. He explained the history of the infection, which it seems has been around since the 1800s. I pointedly asked him if a ban on transportation would do captive and/or wild populations any good. He said "it would have been a major impact if we'd done it 50 years ago, but now it's too late, so no, a ban would be useless now". He then said he's not sure who idiot proposed the transport ban, but they are wrong and out of line. Said to have a ban now was like watching your neighbors house burn to the ground and then offering him a fire extinguisher to spray on the ashes. This woman (can't recall her name, and I don't have all my notes in front of me) left the room.

Science is on our side on this issue. Scientist are on our side on this issue too. It is just the USFWS injurious division that is not. NRAAC is scheduled to have another meeting next fall. In Washington DC. That way more government officials can easily attend to brief us and answer our questions. I was very combative and sometimes vocal at the last NRAAC meeting, and I challenged the science and the thinking taking place in our government. I think I personally made some headway, and I believe the conference was a huge success. At this upcoming conference, I plan on really attacking the amphibian issue, and I plan on bringing as many amphibian specialist as I can get. USARK and PJAC should also be encouraged to take up this issue NOW. If we start pressing, and a bunch of us show up at the NRAAC conference this fall, we might just make a big impression. Might not, but it's worth a try. Or we can just sit back and take what's coming to us.

And on a side note, Zoo Med, independent of USARK has been spearheading the fight in California on these proposed bans. And they've been very successful so far. Someone to think about contacting if anyone is in or moving to California. Just a thought.

The people who petitioned USFW to list amphibians as injurious wildlife are the Defendors of Wildlife. Here is their petition

http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/FR-2010-09-17/html/2010-23039.htm

The frog and turtle issue in California was brought up by animal rights groups who were trying to stop Asian Markets from selling frogs and turtles for human consumption. For a while it was a little scary and then some politions stepped in and the fight got some teeth. Now the issue seems to have gone away and the deciding board for California dept of fish and game defered it to legislation. This is in my opinion the best thing that could have happened. If it goes forward(and i doubt it will) it will require a vote, economic impact study and the people voting are elected officials who have to worry about the consequences of their decisions. The economic impact alone in the state of California would make it so no politician would dare touch it in this economy. The biggest threat to our hobby is that people who are not elected officials somehow have the power and authority to ban animals and make decisions and have no one to answer to. The don't have to do the will of the people they don't have to worry about being out of a job.The only people who should have the power to pass laws in this country are elected officials that are supposed to be representing us.Unfortunately that is not the case.We as citizens have no power to keep these wildlife agencies in check and control the power they have. That to me is the biggest injustice. They are easily infaltrated and influenced by these cults.

So for now I think californias issue is not something to worry about but these folks are sneaky and always testing weaknesses and trying to catch us off guard. They almost did catch people asleep at the wheeel in Cali. When all this first went down noone found out about it until two weeks before the first public hearing on the issue in Ontario california. That initial alarm was sounded by Kim Thomas. Thank god he found out or the hobby in California would have been sucker punched.

I would still really like to see Andrew or his lawyer come here to address this.

I see Herp Alliance passing stories and photographs around on Facebook, and it feels as though they are trying to subvert anyone they can by sharing interesting things and tacking the link to their website onto the bottom. Plenty of good people who are friends of mine on Facebook are still sharing Herp Alliance links.

I link to this thread whenever I get the chance, but I'm still infuriated and disgusted by Andrew's complete lack of willingness to address this like a man, instead of hiding behind his lawyer and his Facebook account.

Is there nothing else we can do to educate the public, or to take down his organization?

Believe me, I'm trying. It's a lot harder to find a lawyer that is willing to help you sue for defamation then I ever imagined. Because the only person with any money is Erika Walsh, and her being an attorney capable of stringing this case out for years, almost all the lawyers I've spoken to are not willing to spend the time needed to pursuer this case. Andrew and Justin have no money, so even with a judgement in my favor, there is little to be gained besides the legal clearing of my name and the satisfaction of beating them up in court. Lawyers don't seem to care about that though lol. But I'm still working on it.
My plan was to have them all served here in Nevada if they were stupid enough to come to Carson City to testify before the Senate here on the exotic animal ban bill, but that doesn't seem likely now. The bill is due to be introduced today, and my time has all but run out. I've been concentrating more on killing this bill then dealing with Andrew. I have the bill looming over our heads now, but I have two years to actually file a suit against Wyatt, so I have to make priorities with my time. The bill first, for all of us, then Andrew, for me. It's the way it has to go.
As for the behind the scenes stuff, Andrew Wyatt and Erika Walsh have been banned from attending or even entering the building of any major reptile show, period. The Herp Alliance is also banned, so even if the two of these people don't attend, no one can represent Herp Alliance in their stead either. It's small consolation, but it will have to do for now.
The only thing I can suggest is that everyone support USARK and PJAC, and tell your friends and colleges not to support Herp Alliance. I don't know if anyone noticed, but last month Herp Alliance had a huge jump of "likes" on their face book page. That's because they bought the "likes". From Indonesia and South America. If you look at their page carefully, you will see that about 6,000 of their likes come from Jakarta and South America. So don't let the number of people liking Herp Alliance fool you, it's all smoke and mirrors. Wyatt is using money donated to Herp Alliance to bolster his own image to make himself look relevant and important. As far as I can tell, the rest of the money is being pocketed by himself. I can't detect any money spent on anything else to help our causes anywhere.

This is already too long. I'm going to stop here. You guys can digest this for now.

I am glad to hear that they are banned from major expos, at least. That is a very good start.

I did take a look at some data on them, and it corresponded with what you said about them buying likes from other countries. I am very glad you brought that up, otherwise I never would have noticed. Facebook says the most popular city (the city with the most people who have liked the page) is Mexico City, Distrito Federal, Mexico. That is pretty disgusting. They do have over 8,000 supposed people liking their page, which I found to be shocking until now.

I did send messages to most of my friends who have the page liked. Some positive responses, some neutral, and a few negative. It has at least opened a dialogue where I can provide links and information so that they can decide for themselves. I would rather be on the receiving end of some negativity than have people NOT talking about this.

Here is a screenshot of some statistics about their Facebook page.

For contrast, here is a screenshot of the USARK Facebook page. Note how their most popular city is LA, California. The age group is also different, as well as the graphs.

If you look at the surge of likes from about a month ago, most of the likes came from 18-24 year old men from Jakarta. I was not aware of Mexico, so it appears they are still using donations to pay for likes. USARK is doing it the old fashioned way, they are earning their likes. Too bad Herp Alliance doesn't use the money donated to them for something like helping us, instead of just helping themselves. But I warned everyone this would happen. I have no proof, just speculation, but I'll bet Herp Alliance paid for Andrew to move from S. Carolina to Chicago too, so he could be closer to his girl friend. He has no money, so he's got to use Herp Alliance money to live off of. Pathetic.

Received this nauseating email not too long ago from Herp Alliance.

On April 23, 2013, Herp Alliance, with your help, passed a milestone since our inception in late December 2012: in just four months on Facebook, we received over 10,000 likes.

Founded by a small and tightly-knit group of individuals, we have tried to hit the ground running to help protect herpetoculture from an ever-encroaching animal rights industry, to help conserve reptiles and amphibians through captive propagation, to protect science and education involving these magnificent animals, to promote high quality captive breeding, and of course, to preserve the ability of individuals to keep their cherished pets.

Early in the year, we engaged Frank Vitello, of Vitello Consulting, to assist us at the federal level, and Frank has delivered in abundance with our legal strategy, outreach, and connections to help protect against additional bans on the keeping of reptiles as well as seeking closure to the Lacey Act Rule Change that went into effect in 2012.

The 2013 legislative season is not yet over. Since January, the Herp Alliance team has accomplished the following:

* Herp Alliance was the first to initiate closure on the python rule to remove the 5 remaining species of constrictors from consideration under the Lacey Act.
* We issued an Action Alert that has generated nearly 700 letters to President Obama urging Secretary Salazar to close the Constrictor Rule before leaving office and Herp Alliance sent our own.
* We broke the news and took the lead on opposing HR 996, Representative Louise Slaughter's proposed Invasive Fish and Wildlife Prevention Act.
Herp Alliance president, Andrew Wyatt, together with our DC consultant, Frank Vitello, visited Washington DC in March and met with Speaker John Boehner, Senator Bill Nelson’s Chief of Staff, Pete Mitchell, Senator Marco Rubio’s staff, Chairman Darrel Issa’s House Oversight Committee staff, Ranking Member David Vitter’s Senate EPW staff, Chairman Doc Hastings’ House Natural Resources Committee Staff Director Harry Burroughs, and others to raise awareness of herpetoculture's most pressing federal concerns.
* We learned of HSUS's push to President Obama and Interior Secretary Ken Salazar to finalize the ‘Constrictor Rule’ and to add 5 additional species to the constrictor rule of the Lacey Act and we exclusively brought that news to you.
* We learned that learned that Senator Bill Nelson (D-FL) would introduce his own version of the ‘Nonnative Wildlife Invasion Prevention Act’ (HR 669 from 111th Congress) in this session and brought that news to you along with the first "discussion draft" of his bill.
* We broke the news on ballot initiatives in Illinois, California, New York, New Jersey, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia and Connecticut and immediately issued action alerts to challenge those bills.
* With over 400 letters sent to committee members in Connecticut, we engaged in that state with you until the ban on boas and Burmese pythons was killed in committee.
* As a result of the incredible efforts of Jared Watts and VIIPER, outstanding ground support in Virginia and Andrew Wyatt's involvement and influence in the Virginia Dangerous Animals Initiative, together we defeated Virginia SB 477 and HB 1242.
* Along with West Virginia Reptile Watch and its leaders Joe Perdue and Greg Stephens, together with approximately 500 letters from our supporters, Herp Alliance engaged in West Virginia against SB 466 and HB 2209 and both bills died in committee without moving forward.
* We engaged in Wilson County, Texas, with Jason Royer and Dave Barker, where Andrew Wyatt proposed a ‘policy solution’ that ultimately reversed ordinance 1998-1 banning constricting and venomous snakes.
* We have reviewed in excess of 550 state level bills for their potential impact on herpetoculture.
* In all states with open legislation, we remain actively engaged and hypervigilant.
* It has been a busy first four months, but we are not tired yet. The reptile community has been sharply divided and politicized for some time. For those of you who have had the faith in us to give us your support on Facebook, on the forums and in emails, we thank you. For those of you who have contributed financially to our cause, we thank you. And for those of you who have sent letters, made phone calls and taken direct action to help fight for herpetoculture, we thank you most of all.

Andrew, Kim, Doug and I appreciate all that you have done. We are in this fight for you and with you, and we are not going away anytime soon!

Well, just by coincidence, I got this email today from Bob Ashley, owner of NARBC.

So far allegedly Andrew Wyatt has not returned the expensive backdrop that supports the banners for the display that you, the reptile industry, paid for. I made sure that Andrew knew that I was going to post this information late last week. All he had to do was supply someone with a tracking number proving he shipped it. He did not supply us with a tracking number or a response. He does say he shipped the banners but will not respond to the backdrop and case, the very expensive part that we want returned to USARK.

1. Andrew announces to the industry January 1st that he is leaving

USARK for philosophical differences, boiler plate for, you do the math.

2. He tells the industry he wishes USARK future success in their

endeavors.

3. January 1st the USARK Facebook page is completely deleted. So

much for wishing the industry well.

4. January 1st Andrew announces his new organization Herp

Alliance.

5. A mass of people around the country start getting peppered

with emails from herp alliance that only signed up with USARK. Andrew gets heat for allegedly stealing the USARK email list on many forums from the effected USARK members. As everything, after a week people forget. These emails still go out to the ones who did not publicly complain.

6. Andrew has been silent on any and all posts that call him out on

anything. Andrew has been a virtual ghost to the industry other than around his very few supporters. Groups like Rexano would ask questions about inconsistencies and false statements that Herp Alliance claimed. Groups and people that asked these questions were deleted and blocked from the HA facebook page.

7. I have posted about the issue of the return of the USARK

property on two other occasions and Andrew has not publicly answered why he refuses to or has finally shipped the most expensive piece of this property back to USARK. I guess he thinks he can ignore this and just let time heal these wounds. My guess is he replaced the USARK banners on the display with H.A. banners. This is only a guess but I cannot think of another reason why he would not return it.

My allegation to what Andrew is up to is as follows. Once Andrew was fired from USARK Jan 1st he chooses to start another very similar organization, Herp Alliance so he could continue to have a job. Can't blame a guy for that. He then allegedly deletes the USARK facebook page and takes the USARK mailing list. He refuses to return property to usark for several months until I post that it needs to be returned back in mid Feb. He then returns T-shirts and some roll up banners. The expensive commercial backdrop and case that helps to support our industry was kept. All this shows that Andrew Wyatt has no interest in aiding our cause in the reptile industry unless it serves Andrew. These acts show to me what kind of guy Andrew is and his true intentions. These are my opinions from all the past acts by Andrew and the many more details about Andrew that have been posted publicly over the last several months.

Andrew Wyatt of Herp Alliance has yet to return the expensive equipment he stole from its rightful owner, USARK. This is expensive material that is used to help our efforts against unjust legislation. Contributors to USARK paid for this equipment with their hard earned donations to USARK. Help us put pressure on Andrew Wyatt to do the right thing and return this property to its rightful owners. That would be us little people, in the form of USARK. Don't let him get away with this theft. Act now. Go to the Herp Nation face book page and demand the return of our property.
