With regard to the statements you have made, I offer a brief rebuttal:
1) The government did not care about the "love" of the pets or the net "worth" of the industry as they crushed the constrictor segment. We were destroyed and the feds never broke a sweat. The fact remains, the industry is not worth much compared to others so to win is to gather popular support from ordinary citizens. Tough but possible.
2) My "love" for the hobby might work to gain favorable attitudes with citizens. Those citizens in turn might help me win my battle with an inefficient, ineffectual and ineffective government rule.
3) I never implied the industry is "dreaded", just inundated at times with "used car salesman" types.
In closing, I think USARK is now better than it has ever been. I hope they can convince more non-herp keepers to care about what we do and why we do it. It will not happen with an economics lesson. It will take communication and passion. Simple.
