In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I'm looking for any first-hand experience with Sand Boa Morphs (http://sandboamorphs.com/). I've got a deposit down on a pair of Triple het Paradox/Anery/Hypos from them and am seeing some troubling comments on FB. Those comments seem to be mostly hearsay, however, so I'd appreciate any real information.

What did you get, Riemermorphs? I've heard from one source that they sell normals as hets, but I haven't been able to verify that from anyone else and therefor tend to discount it.

I can't help you from a breeder's standpoint as we purchased a baby albino female KSB from him online for my son's birthday last year. However, this was our experience: She arrived healthy and beautiful but she wouldn't eat-she was our first snake and we weren't sure if it was because of something we were doing. Spoke with Mark several times via email and he suggested various things for us to try. He was reassuring and didn't try to play the blame game, just honestly tried to help out. In the end we couldn't get her to eat and she was striking us but not the food. So Mark exchanged her for a larger, equally pretty, albino female at no extra cost. The new snake ate for us without any trouble and was not aggressive. We were happy with the customer service and pleased that he stood behind his products. I have watched him at several Repticons and he seems to have a steady repeat business of satisfied customers.

I'd like to ask that a moderator remove that comment. My apologies.
Not gonna happen. What's said on the BOI, stays on the BOI. If you don't think that the person would appreciate having to publicly stand behind their words, what makes you think that they can be taken seriously? It's easy to just pop off at the mouth, when there's no real chance of being held accountable. I'm more inclined to believe that which is willingly, boldly and publicly stated.

I absolutely agree, which is why I posted this inquiry. I tried to be explicit that I didn't give that story much credence due to the lack of any evidence to support it. Guess I didn't do well enough. I'm just trying to find actual hard proof of their track record one way or another.

Ben, I know both Mark & Jennifer.
unless the "rumor" is from a trusted source, I would dismiss it.

I have two breeding female KSBs and asked them advice on them, they were glad to answer all my questions.

I have personally bought a snake from them... They were great to deal with! They were informative, nice, and most importantly... The snake is doing well. My daughter loves the KSB from them and I have 0 complaints!!! Would buy from them again without hesitation.

I've purchased 2 female anerys from them, 1 baby and 1 adult. The baby did take a little while to get eating on a regular schedule but being that she was handled a bit at a show, that didn't surprise me. And Mark was more than helpful trying to offer suggestions to get her to eat and eventually she did and has been doing great ever since. The adult was given to SBM on a trade so he couldn't speak to its lineage other than to say he highly doubted she was het for anything.

I've personnaly watched Mark go above and beyond to help customers out at shows.
One customer had two normal babies that they had gotten from somewhere else but were looking for help. The babies looked like they were super dehydrated, the customer said they hadn't eaten in over a month, they were in very dry sand and both had shed still stuck on them. Mark told them if they were kept in there current conditions they probably wouldn't last much longer. But what really blew me away was that he offered to trade them for one of his Anerys that probably weighed more than both of the babies combined.
Another customer came by and was asking about the KSBs overbite. Mark picks up one of his snakes and shows her what it looks like and explains how its normal and such. And then she tells a story about how she got one at the last show and she had a problem getting it to eat so she took it to a Vet. The Vet told her the snake wouldnt eat because it had a really bad overbite and would have to force feed it. The Vet had the snake for over a month and after a while of force feeding it, it eventually died. Or rather, in my opinion, the Vet had no idea about KSBs and was too arrogant to do any kind of research and eventually killed it...very sad. And then Mark turns around and says here have one of these...and gives her a new KSB at no charge and tells her if she has any problems to call him first.

From a show/business perspective, they might not have 20 or 30 years experience but they are full-time breeders. Yes, they are sponsors of Repticon and I think they have certain stipulations in place with Repticon but I dont know specifically what they are. Personnaly I don't see anything wrong with any of that. Everyone has to start somewhere, remember at one point even the Bells and the Barkers had less than 10 years experience. And we do live in a capitalist society, so if they can get a cometitive advantage over the competition, although it might seem unfair, thats business. And if they have an agreement in place with Repticon to restrict other vendors from selling KSBs or how other vendors sell KSBs, I wouldn't fault SBM for this, I'd fault Repticon for agreeing to it. And also keep in mind they are not the only vendor that has certain stipulations in place, FeederSource is another sponsor and they have exclusive rights for selling frozen feeders at Repticon.

I can also say, that I've never gotten information from them that wasn't consistent with what any of the other experts have said. When I bought my first one from him, I asked about buying a second one and he talked me out of doing it. I've also been to their house and I've seen their setup and I can say 100% from what I've seen first-hand that they are commited to breeding quality animals.

And of course, when buying anything that is "het", there is the risk of the unknown, whether the breeder is well known or not. It just comes down to if you're willing to trust them and what you're basing that trust on. Is it on the word of others that have dealt with them personnaly? If they produced them, can they show you the parents of the animals that produced the hets? If they're selling something they got from another breeder, will that other breeder confirm it? Or...are you hearing he said she said second and third hand stories of how they did someone wrong.

All in all, I have had no problems with SBM, I will buy from them again and I have no problem trusting them.

His costumer service after a sale sucks. A few years ago I bought a sand boa from Mark. My sand boa was shipped to me when it was very cold (below freezing) and the shipment got delayed and was a day late. My sand boa was on deaths door and felt frozen and Mark would not answer my phone calls or emails. That was the first and last time I did business with him.

On one of the groups on FB someone was asking for help in the middle of last year because they received a snake from him in the mail that was not the same snake pictured. It was thin and dehydrated and not only that it was ovepriced. Like a lot of his sand boas.

I got a snake from him 3.5 years ago. It arrived with a respiratory infection. He was also extremely small, and is finally only hitting a reasonable adult male size.

I'm not a fan of them due to my personal experiences in the past, but the latest acts of them taking photos of birthing females they ripped from their tubs to plop them on a mirror for "educational" photos is appalling.
When asked about this, they claimed:

"We appreciate your concerns. However, none of the reptiles pictured have ever shown any negative effects from the few minutes they were photographed for educational purposes. We love our reptiles and give them better treatment than most children receive."

I personally would never do this to any animal, birthing is so stressful as is...I would certainly never ask a woman in labor to move from her birth area to come into a photography studio while she's crowning....(which is basically what is happening to these snakes in human terms).

When asked if they would continue to take photos of birthing females in a professional setting, they removed my comments. They also blocked me.

Just my .02 on SBM, as I personally value customer service, safe breeding and animal husbandry practices, and healthy animals...
