In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Geoffrey Marshall Aka Geomeleon or chamcapture

I don't understand why you wont post the email's and pm's. I see the pictures, is there something to hide in the correspondence between yourself and the seller?

No im waiting for the pics to transfer from my phone to my email so i can post them. Nothing to hide.

I work from 8-5 every day so I had it sent to my friend that lives down the street that actually got me started in chameleons. Hes been keeping balls, geckos, cham, beardies etc for over 10 years. His user name on here is Mirek369. He can confirm everything I say on here.

This is a picture of the receipt with the time the package was signed for 9:50AM

This is the email I sent to geomeleon immediately after i got wind of this BS.

After that i never heard from the seller again. If you honestly believe that in the matter of 17 minutes he was unpackaged and burned so bad that the spikes are missing and scared over you don't know anything about thermal burns at all.

here is a link to educate some of you on thermal burns

http://www.chameleonden.co.uk/thermal_burns.html

"Unfortunately, once a chameleon has been burnt, the scarring will be permanent. The first signs of a burn will be the area turning white and at this point it normally doesn’t seem too bad and the animal may carry on its usual habits, don’t be put at ease by this and a visit to the vets is a must to receive immediate treatment. Over time, the affected area will turn black and scab over, eventually the necrotic tissue will peel and fall off leaving a pink coloured scar underneath. Some severe burns across the back can leave large amounts of tissue loss and care must be taken to ensure the area does not become infected."

The third picture down on your initial post shows some discoloration of the back. Did you inquire about it? Have you taken the critter to the vet to confirm what this is?

I payed Paypal using the friend/family option because he "didn't want to get hit with Paypal fees"

Paypal makes its living from the fees, which are not exorbitant. You decided you wanted a free ride and paid the price.

Not only is this guy a scumbag for sending me this burnt cham hes a scumbag for not taking him to the vet when the burn first appeared

Umm... exactly how was this saving me money? He requested that I send it using the family/freind option. You can see he pushed me into doing it and stressed twice to use the option. I had no idea that it would void my ability to dispute the transaction. ucker got me good.

According to the OP, the first two pictures are what the seller sent to him. The third is a picture of what was actually received.

While it wasn't particularly bright for him to go along with using the "gift" option, if what the buyer says is true, it appears that the seller is the one who made the initial choice to stiff PayPal.

Did you happen to get a screenshot of the ad? I just looked over on Chameleonforums.com, and I couldn't find the ad. Despite the fact that the seller seems content to leave his other listings up after the animals have sold, the listing for this cham seems to have disappeared. We really need to see that ad. Also, you say that the first two pictures are are what the seller "sent" you, which implies there was more communication than what you've already posted. Can you post ALL of the correspondence you've had so far?

For all I know he may have adjusted the price in consideration of the payment method. While you may have not known that you lost the ability to dispute, there is no way you did not know that Paypal would not get its fees from this transaction. You agreed to this free ride when you could have refused.

I'm asking again: Did you inquire of your seller about the discoloration on the back of the cham in that third picture, a picture which was sent prior to purchase?

There was no initial ad for him. he posted pics on chameleon forums and i shot him a PM offering to buy him for 300$ plus shipping if you look at the screen shot of our pms. here a link to where the pics were posted where i spotted him

there is a screen shot of our pms. read it. no he did not mention any scar or burn ever. the first 2 pics were the ones on the ad and the 2nd 2 are the ones i took the day i got him. I knew that paypal would not get the fees but i figured since he agreed to give him to me a little cheaper than we first agreed i had no problem doing it for him to save 3%

I wasn't by any means :censored: talking, only looking for background info to see if there was ever any mention of the burn. No sorry I don't need an education in thermal burns I am familiar and didn't doubt for a minute that's what is wrong with the chameleon. If there was no mention of the condition prior to purchase than yes you are due an explanation, and partial refund or full refund on return of the animal.

What a piece of work!!

OK, let me start off by saying this guy is a piece of work! I kick myself in the ass for being OCD, as every time I get messages via pm's or emails I delete them to keep my box clean. VERY BIG mistake I now see and will be doing things differently in the future! I have been in Orlando since Wednesday on business and just got in this evening to this MESS!! I guess I don't really have a leg to stand on since I can't bring hearsay into this forum without documentation. So, I will just have to state my side of the story.

I posted pics of a Nosy Be male I had, in the "General photography" section of another forum for people to JUST look at. This animal was never posted in a classified ad for sale!! Now, I had NO idea that "Mafia89" and "ReeferCheefer" were the same entity at the time or I wouldn't have given him the time of day! That being said "ReeferCheefer", as he goes by on another forum, contacted me by pm on that forum and asked me if I would be interested in selling him for $300+shipping. I pm'd him back and let him know the animal had a scar on his back and if he still wanted him to let me know. Before he got back to me I saw on his profile page that he was from Chicago and looked up shipping details and pm'd him a price of $365 shipped. A couple days went by and he finally pm'd me back and said he only had $306 and change in his PayPal account and asked if I would take that for the animal. I pm'd back and said just make it an even $305. He then pm'd back and asked if I would ship on Friday for Saturday delivery because he worked all week and he had done this before and picked it up at the hub. I pm'd and told him I wasn't comfortable doing that, but if that was what he wanted I wouldn't be responsible if something happened and he couldn't get a a hold of FedEx til Monday. He then pm'd back and asked if I would ship the animal to his friends house instead. I pm'd back and said as long as his account was "verified" and he sent it using the family and friends option, I would do that. Now, the reason I did it that way? I smelled a scam brewing!! If you pay using goods and services on PayPal and you don't ship to a "verified" address you aren't covered under "seller protection"!! He then pm'd back and said the account was "verified" and it was in fact his girlfriends account which raised even more red flags. He then sent the funds and I shipped the animal THAT day to his friends house!! The next day, right after receiving the animal, his girl friend went on PayPal and started a case for an "UNAUTHORIZED" sale!! PayPal has taken the money from my account already until this is resolved. Now, had it gone under goods and services and I shipped to his friend I would have been screwed!! As it stands right now, he actually put the friends shipping address in the memo section of the payment and I think that may save me as well as giving PayPal the tracking info!! BEWARE OF THIS GUY PEOPLE!! If you are thinking about selling to this guy, I strongly advise you NOT too!! "Mafia89" as he goes by on this forum has pm'd me numerous times downing my animals that have been for sale. One pm was just to say that "Ambilobe's don't have U bars". I guess that meant to him that I was misrepresenting my animal. Well, that particular animal was purchased from "KevinOpp" on this forum, who also happens to be a reptile veterinarian!! As I have found out, this "Mafia89" also has a "BAD GUY" thread on this forum about Kammerflage Kreations, who happens to be one of the most reputable breeders in the ENTIRE US of A!! I see that "KevinOpp" is mentioned in that thread as well. He actually just bought one of my animals about 2 weeks ago, why don't you ask him how his animal looked when he got it!! As far as I am concerned, "Mafia89" has NO credibility and SELLERS NEED TO BEWARE!!

Says the guy who has NO proof of ANYTHING. If he was supposedly made aware of the scar, would it not have made sense for you to either volunteer a recent picture, or for him to request one that depicts the damage? Why would you choose to send pictures that don't show the animal in its actual condition?

You got some nice pics, "today". It's odd that no one would reference the scar that I'd think would be blatantly obvious, if the pictures were indeed taken that day. Let me guess, the burn didn't happen until just after you started that thread? Since the pictures have disappeared, I guess we'll never know what they showed.

That whole spiel really doesn't do anything to make you look any better. You were "uncomfortable" with his proposed shipping arrangement, yet you decided that you'd do it anyway? You were willing to put the animal at risk, as long as the buyer wouldn't hold you responsible for what could go wrong. You "smelled a scam", but not only decided to continue with the transaction, but also decided to request a payment method which defrauds PayPal out of their fees. Yeah, ok. It's just as plausible that that choice was made to take yourself out of an actionable position for selling a misrepresented chameleon. Looks like your sole motivation was making sure that every cent of the money came through, and stayed with you.

How convenient that you just happened to delete anything that would support your claims. I suppose that your "OCD" made you empty your email client's Trash folder, too? It's odd that it doesn't also compel you to remove your classifieds listings, after the animals sell. So many "red flags" ignored. You wouldn't be trying to capitalize on the fact that the OP has already made himself very easy to dislike, would you?

I just wanted to let you know Apex that I really do enjoy seeing your posts in these threads. I used to live down your way actually, worked in Willow Street. Anywho, point is that I hope more people start analyzing these threads in the way you do. It is very easy to dislike Mafia89 here given his tone, attitude, history of conduct & response, and just general classification as a somewhat evacuated receptacle of feminine hygiene cleansing solution, but as you say here, whether you like him or not, the FACTS and EVIDENCE are what determines right and wrong in these situations.

Look, I'm not going to go back and forth with this thread. I didn't need to elaborate on that thread on CF...CAUSE HE WASN'T FOR SALE!! The pics I posted were older pics along with others that were stuck in a broken camera that didn't/doesn't take pics anymore. After working on it for awhile, I was able to get the pics on it downloaded to my computer. Hence the reason I said "I got some nice pics today"! I didn't say I "took them today"! As far as pm's are concerned I already stated I don't have a leg to stand on...MY BAD, lesson learned!! I deleted ALL my pics on CF to make more space on my account, not just the pics of the Nosy Be. Like I said, had I not done it the way I did, this guy would have gotten my animal and my money!! There is a reason the OP isn't liked and it's quite obvious why!! It has NOTHING to do with me capitalizing on his dislikes. I am NOT a chameleon breeder and never claimed to be! I do this as a hobby and never needed to build a reputation, but the animals I have sold over the years have never had problems that I didn't disclose. I have countless people that have bought from me in the last 7 years that are VERY happy with their purchase!! It seems odd that in the 7 years that I have been a member on this forum that I suddenly feel the need to scam someone!!
