In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I got this female normal in a group purchase. She came with 2 other normal girls, a pewter, and a rack. She is a lot lighter then the other girls, and is around 1200 grams, if not more. I have had her for a couple months now and i noticed when i try to handle her, she hisses and then strikes at me.

Today i picked up up and brought her partly out of her tub, and she continuously tried to strike at me, pushing herself out of the tub just to get at me.

I tried to feed her roughly 3 weeks ago and she ignored the rat and went for me. So i removed the rat after i put a newspaper over her head. I tried again to feed her 2 weeks ago, but i offered her a small rat, she took that with no problem.

My issue is her aggression. I do not know if she already was this aggressive or if its new. When i got her i was told that her name was "Almost" Because she almost bit someone every feeding.

Is there anything i can do for her? If there is not, then if anyone is local and is willing and able to handle her, i will give her to you.

I am NOT new to ball pythons, and have been bitten once by a big girl, however, this girl is just out of my league. I am unable and unwilling to deal with a snake that i can not even hold.

I love feisty snakes! Meaner the better for me. Lol.

I am somewhat local, but I don't even take snakes into my quarantine area anymore these days. However, PM me if you can't handle her, I can get her from you if you like, and have a room I can put her in for 6 month QT.

I have many balls that others would call aggressive or mean, but I think if you know their personality it can be enjoyable as well.

"Almost" that's a funny name. Once you have her out of her enclosure completely & after confidently holding her for a few minutes does she still try to bite you?

Yes she does, even after i have picked her up completely she is still striking at me, always tense, she never relaxes like my other girls do.

Is it possible she may have been abused or mishandled at some point in her life? How long have you had her? If you haven't had her long give her a few months to settle in and get used to you. It took a couple of my shy snakes around 4 months to really get comftorable with me handling them. This also may just be her personality. Brian Barzyck from snakebytes has a huge Burmese python female named Satan that is seriously nasty and it seems to just be her personality. Good luck with her! If I was close to you I'd offer to take her but I'm way to far from you.

I have had her for about a month now, when i first had her i held her a couple times and she was okay. But once she relaxed a little, shes just way too much. If you want her, if you pay shipping, i can try shipping her. Shes a very light colored girl, i will try to get a photo or two up if she lets me.

some snakes take a while to get acclimated & like mentioned some snakes will be... snakes.

That may be, though i have never encountered a ball python that acted as she does. I will give her time, and see how things go. Should i attempt to handle her? Or should i leave her alone for an amount of time?

What I did with my shy girls was after a month or two I'd go in their cage once a week, take them out and put them on my bed with me and just chill with them. They mostly go hide under the blanket and wrap around my feet for the warmth lol! With her you will probably need to just get her used to your presence. Take her hide out of her cage if she has one and sit by her cage for a few minutes a day or every couple days. Put the hide back when your done. Is it possible for you to get a video up of her being aggressive?

Some people say to leave the snake be with no handling or feeding for a week or two & others say feed but don't even try handling until after the snake had 3 meals & then slowly work your way into handling more & more.

The acclimation time can vary from animal to animal. I would double check the environmental conditions, make sure she has a hide or two, & give her some privacy. Ask the previous owner about the snakes "personality" & if it wasn't as your describing maybe try to match some previous settings like substrate or something.

The weather is starting to warm up, she was just shipped, & now she is in a whole new place so she probably has a little stress going on so try to not handle her or do anything that could add stress. I know it's tough when you get a new baby & want to play with them.

Just curious because you mention you tried to feed her about a week after feeding. Are you or do you know if she feed prior to you owning her feed in a separate inclosure?
