So I received a ten lot of "Rhamphopeleon uluguruensis " from underground- they shipped instead Rieppeleon brevicaudatus . Went back and reviewed their ad here, and even the pics that they have listed as uluguruensis are nothing more than juvenile brevicaudatus. These people obviously know which is which since they've offered these animals before, and it is the opinion of myself and several others that they are knowingly misrepresenting the animals being offered.

Buyer beware!
 
Im sure if you call them up they will be more than happy to resolve the problem. Underground Reptles is very professional with the way they conduct business. Please post some pics of what you bought.
 
here we go:
animal I purchased. Notice
1)the lack of rostral projection
2)presence of horizontal stripes
3) LACK of the diagonal stripes
4) presence of "beard" hard to see in pic, I know



True Rhamphopeleon ulugulurensis should have
1) slight rostral projection
2) DIAGONAL not horizontal stripes
3) No beard

I will be contacting them on Monday. Tried once yesterday upon receipt of package
 
Well idk much about Chameleons but maybe they can shed some light on the situation or maybe you can help shed some light on it and help correct them if they are wrong. Just remember no matter how perfect someones track record they are bound to screw up sometime. Keep that in mind. Goodluck monday.
 
What you have is definitely a brevicaudatus. I've dealt with Underground Reptiles a lot, and I agree, they are usually very willing to fix things. I suspect that the chams were presented to them as uluguru from the importers. (Not saying it's an excuse, just a possible reason.). Technically, both species are from the same area of Tanzania, so I could see an importer saying "these are from the Uluguru area."

So they have brevicaudatus pictured in the ad you purchased from, and you're upset that they sent you brevicaudatus? I understand you're saying they mislabeled them, but why were you surprised that you got the wrong species if the wrong species was pictured in the ad to begin with? Maybe I missed something? :shrug01:

I did not use this ad to place my order. Before making this thread, I checked to see what their ad had listed.

The point of this ad is that a very rare to the hobby species is being misrepresented. I would not have sent them any $ at all were I to know I'd be getting a very common species WC, right off the boat, that I could get for only slightly more $$ CB from a hobbyist or forum sponsor. AND, since they already sell the aforementioned common species, it is unlikely that they are making an honest mistake, since the two species look very dissimilar, even as juveniles
 
I think it is unwarranted to start a bad guy thread less then 24 hours after Underground was contacted...it could have simply been a mistake. Mistakes happen. It's how the seller handles that mistakes that shows their true colors.
 
So the next time I see an ad selling something,with the picture of a "hot woman",I will be pissed if she doesn't show up with my purchase!:rofl:

First off, Have you attempted to contact Underground Reptiles to bring resolve to your situation?? You claim that you would not have sent them any money if you knew that you were to receive the species that you did. Have they rejected to issue you a full refund??

If you can not answer the questions above with YES & YES, you are putting the cart before the horse. Some of us take negative BOI post/ threads very serious (as they become ones permanent record).

I know the guys at Underground personally. They have always been very professional with me and run a tight ship....Accidents/ Errors do happen in life. Its how the (Error) gets resolved that matters! :thumbsup:

I'm not defending them, I'm merely stating that you look stupid. So you knowing full well that Rhampholeon uluguruensis are rare...went and bought some for $25 a pop and then went and cried wolf after you found out that they're the more common species despite being the same price as the brevicaudatus? Then you suggest they're intentionally misrepresenting animals despite posting several, clear, high-res pictures of the animals.

You know what I DO when I see a super-sweet deal I want no one to know about? I ask for pictures, and if there aren't any pictures, I don't buy them, or I buy them knowing full well if I get a mystery bag in the mail that I will live with the problem without whining afterwards.

The distinction between misidentification and intentionally misrepresenting to make a profit (despite the price being comparable or the same) is an important one that you're blurring the lines on.

Despite your contention that they at Underground are experts on the animals, I've had them mis-sex Jacksons chameleons. Yes, you read that right. But I talked to them about it in email and we straightened it out and I was properly compensated.

At WORST this should have been an INFO thread, not a bad guy thread if you've not even successfully made contact with the business post-purchase. In the future I would ask that you use the human virtue of EMPATHY knowing that when you create a bad guy thread talking smack/making accusations on the BOI that those threads are easily referenced via google and do NOT get deleted. I wonder if you would be so quick to help tarnish a brand if the favor could be repaid on the world-wide-web to you, showing any and all things you've messed up business-wise for everyone to see by simply googling your name. I have a heavy suspicion you wouldn't.

Again, I'm not defending them. I have bought from them in the past mainly because the prices are good. I'm not an idiot, and I know I get what I pay for.
 
First I want to apologize for the incorrect animal pictured in the ads. This was a species of chameleon we were not as familiar with and did our best to separate from among the brev's using pictures I found online. It may have been an error that took place during the separation or when packed up. That being said though, I can't seem to find an order placed by Mr. Radany from last week. Any error in sexing or especially a mixup of species should be reported the day the animals were received. I have nothing on my end. This thread is the first I'm hearing of this matter and we would have been more than happy to have the animals sent back if Jason had simply contacted us right away.

You did not even give them the opportunity to respond to the situation before you came here and you only just received them?
To me that is more than premature. That reflects poorly on you as a customer, not on them as a seller.
