• In the past two days I have gotten emails asking about being requested to provide credit card info in order to register and also to make a post in the classifieds forums. PLEASE NOTE: In no instance will this site ask you for this sort of information. The only time any request for payment is made is if you choose to opt-in for a higher membership level, and that is done SOLELY through PayPal. Anything else is coming from a source other than this site. My guess is that this is coming through Google Adsense, but when I can get someone to send me a screen shot of this sort of request, I will know more.

    **************************************************
In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Youngstown Reptile Show, OH Nov. 24th

Do you have any experience with this show? Is it worth a 6 hour round trip to come see?

We will be there, vending and doing rescue outreach, but to be honest, I don't think you will see much you would not see elsewhere. It has the potential (I think this is their third show) to be a good local show for the folks in Warren/Youngstown and points south who don't want to drive 75 minutes each way to Cleveland or Pittsburgh. Easy to get to, that is for sure.

Update - show was sold to a new promoter five days prior to the event. As a result, promotion suffered. Combine that with the first really cold weather of the winter and forecasts of lots of snow in areas, there were a number of vendor cancellations (nothing looks worse than a lot of empty tables) and traffic was slow. However, most of those who were there seemed ready to buy. Despite the slow day, we hit our targeted sales figure.

I believe these new promoters will do a good job. They are trying to go monthly,, and they are adding a December show on Saturday, 12/21. I am told Saturday is a much better shopping day in this area. The next day is the Pittsburgh show,, so they may get some vendor synergy the way Cleveland/Columbus do. I also think the greater frequency will help with promotion and attendance. We WILL be back next month.

Was at the Clarsville, IN show (had a program at a local college so deciided to check it out) and confirmed that there IS a Saturday, December 21 show at Youngstown. We will have some animals to rehome, lots of used supplies to sell (all supporting the rescue) and will be doing rescue outreach. Stop by and say hello. Located at the Rodeway Inn in Girard.
