In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Bad Experience with Carson Phelps of Herps Etc

I tried to leave and I keep getting emails

Ok Chris
I put my business on hold just for u

Ask me the questions and ill answer them

Posts 97, 98 and 99. Three questions for you. Nice easy ones too. Guess your business is no longer on hold?

Another easy one. In your so called "complete breakdown" in post #6 you completely avoided any mention of a buddy who lost. eggs due to a hurricane. Why did you omit that?

Chris Kennard - what is your business here? You haven't posted an ad in over 7 years. Who are you? Don't you have ANYTHING better to do? Your incessant stupid questions are pathetic. It's NONE of your business. Reading your crap is irritating. Same goes for the few other of you lifeless minions. Go to work or something.

To answer Bobby's question I no longer have the deposit slip from Bank of America when I deposited cash. But, it has not been disputed that I waited for two different season's for scaleless corns and then the following year the ball package. In addition during all of my phone conversation with Carson the time frame has never been denied.

Believe me, more than Carson I want this deal done ASAP. It will be nice to "be made whole."

Ryan, I know this was addressed to Chris but let me chime in here. I have never posted an ad on FaunaClassifieds. Does that mean I don't belong here? I have purchased MANY animals from the ads on this site. This place is for both buyers and sellers and more importantly the BOI is for BUYERS.

Is Chris coming down a little hard on Carson? Probably. Is he wrong to do so? No. After reading this BOI on Mr. Phelps I know I won't be doing business with him... ever. His previous misdeeds were brought to light here by another user and I spent last night reading all of them.

We are all here to be successful, whether that means selling our clutches for profit or buying animals for future breeding projects. It is imperative the BOI perform it's function and it won't function if the tough questions aren't asked.

Since when is posting ads is a prerequisite of using the forum?
Who are you? Don't you have ANYTHING better to do?
For someone who has been on this forum so long, you sure don't seem to understand how the BOI works.
Your incessant stupid questions are pathetic.
And evidently impossible for Carson to answer.
It's NONE of your business.
Interesting attitude. I was of the impression that it's EVERYBODY'S business in this whole community when someone is ripped off. Precisely why the BOI is here.

Insults and name calling is an indication you have no logical argument, and are left with nothing but emotional appeal. Funny, I haven't seen Chris or anyone else asking questions do that. Just people defending the seller...

I am just another person on the side lines wondering the same things. There are a lot of discrepancies for those that choose to see them. Chris has pointed out about every last thing that had me scratching my head but I decided to stay out until I realized why the statement below stuck in my head. Earlier in the year I was interested in one of Carsons snakes that, come to find out, would have fulfilled his obligation to Guy.

No pied? But here he is selling one shortly after the above:

No het pied girls? But here he is selling some just a few months short of having to fulfill his commitment:

Yeah Nick, I'm curious about that as well.

Seems like Carson does not like answering questions and I wanted to make sure this was not missed.

Also, for what it's worth, I do a fair bit of corn/colubrid business locally in NC and SC and I've never heard of a Steve Miles, nor have I seen him at shows or anywhere else. Not that it may mean much, but just offering up an opinion of an active trader in the local NC/SC market. Who knows, maybe Carson got scammed at the start, but it still falls on him to make it right his side of the transaction right with Guy.

For what it is worth, I did locate a Stephen Miles in Camden, SC and it appears he owns a small construction business, I believe. I was hoping Carson would still have some info so I could link and post that info here. I did not want to tie an unrelated party to this thread based off an assumption. There is an address and phone number listed for that name but if he was a scammer, he's either not really into reptiles or under a false name.

I agree with Dale, get the OP his money back. Having this dragged out for three years is no way run a business.

The OP appears to simply have submitted to Carson's offer of "other" snakes. I would guess that the OP has been worked over, tired and is willing to get anything at this point. Working someone over for 3 years to the point were they accept a substitute, again is no way to run a business either.

If I was the OP I would expect $3,000 PLUS interest sitting in my account today, none of this wish wash waiting for yet another 7 months to finalize things. With all the satisfied customers and sales Carson has, surely he can put together 3k and send it to him "today".

Is there a reason you can not simply refund the OP his money Carson and make him whole today?

That's what I'm gonna do

When this went down

The OP wanted other reptiles

Since it got out of hand
I'm gonna just refund the money
I have no problems doing that

Will be taken care of this week

You told the OP he would get scaleless corn snakes.
Didn't happen
You told the OP he would get ball pythons
Didn't happen
You told me you would start a Bad Guy thread on Miles
Didn't happen
I really hope that this refund happens, but I'll believe it when I see it.

Strike a nerve coach? Nobody is forcing you to read my posts. What is your stake here? My posts are none of your business. I do work. Just got home. If you ever need a loan for anger management classes, I'd be happy to chip in. It will help you control your little tantrums.

Warning: all the side comments and personal bickering needs to stop, stick to the topic at hand, take other feedback to the feedback forum or PMs or *hell*

My apologies. Carson, since you are viewing this thread and said you would answer some questions, hows about making good like you said you would? The ones I asked most recently are easy and reasonable. Thank you in advance for taking the time to answer.

once again my 2 cents. Carson is a good person to do business with!!
What is your purpose of keeping this going Chris Kennard? It's done and over from what I can see and I think anyone who knows Caron would agree

Chris obviously smells something and is doing what he thinks needs to be done to root it out. His tactics are annoying sometimes, but sometimes they do work. Whether he finds something this time or not who knows.

If something smells it should be checked to see if there is actually something rotten or not. There have been some people that other well known breeders have stood behind and defended after a "little person/nobody" came forward with their problem. Sometimes those looking into the situation come upon a smell and one or of those folks will try to poke around and bring it to the surface... of course sometimes those making the early attempts end up getting slammed by the defenders. Occasionally the defenders sadly learn they were in fact defending someone not worth the effort...rotten to the core. These are just 3 that come easily to mind:

Chris Johnson (Top Shelf Exotics).

Jeff/Christina Wise (Wise Reptiles).

Current celebrity dejour... Damon Heynen aka Brian Smith aka Josh Burm Guy aka David Beauchemin (HighEndHerps).. mind you by the time this guy reinvented himself as HEH, you had those trying to root things out getting called paranoid and being silly children making up far-fetched conspiracy theories by those trying to defend such a stand up guy and a good person to do business with. HEH's status is in limbo - we might have a plot twist in that there might be a faked death or a real death.. time will tell.

My overall take on this is... ideally, the original person should have only put a small deposit down and not give all money over. Carson should not have taken all money and give that money to a 3rd party when that person did not have goods in hand to give to Carson (assuming there is indeed a 3rd party involved). Carson should have held on to the money until he got the snakes from said 3rd party. He also should have simply given money back once things started going down hill and been done with it. At worst, the OP would have only been out a deposit and not the entire lump sum.

Well said. And an informal way of describing what the BOI is all about.
If a mod with blue handwriting gives directions, listen up.
But if anyone else questions one's right to post, tells one to put the hush on, generally that means that the person posting has said something worthwhile, something the other party wants quashed.

Carson&Co. would have everyone believe that the situation is handled, it is all over, we can all go home. The truth is, the refund has not been given, the $3000 missing for two years is suspect, and the situation is a long way from being fork tender.

This thread is reminiscent of two threads in the early 2000s, both of which I was bombarded by people defending "stand up" and respected guys in the herp community. Both of them were exposed as being quite the opposite. Albury and Felice. Many of the same antics are present here. One thing I learned is that people who are honest do everything in their power to prove it and are usually successful. The elusive, vague ones who LET others stick up for them while lurking in the shadows lack character and often honesty.
