In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Bad Experience with Carson Phelps of Herps Etc

The problem I see when I read this thread is that someone who makes their money as a dealer that buys from people at wholesale and then turns around and sells at retail got a bit ahead of themselves.

My personal take - buy from the breeder not the dealer if you want to be sure of the animal in question. Breeders will show you pics of the animals they have available and don't often have to spend your money to acquire the snakes you seek because they produced them.

The money was sent through Western Union but then refunded to Carson around 10 am EST according to Western Union for security reasons, because of the amount they were concerned with fraud. Just my luck. Spoke with Carson and he is overnighting a cashiers check for a Saturday delivery.

Once this is complete I will let everyone know. Thanks.

Did he fulfill his obligation?

I am sure this view has been stated already but I figured I would provide my 2 cents.

From the buyers point of view I would have been skeptical of handing someone 3000$ for them to purchase an animal for me. Although it seems like a nice gesture, problems like this seem too probable to arise. I would have asked for the breeders info and spoken/dealt with them personally. If that were done it seems this could have been avoided.

From Carson's point, if the snakes were not able to be purchased from the breeder the first time, then refund the money. A few years is a good amount of time to (a) have someone's money and (b) if you spent the money, it's more than enough time to have the money made back to return it.

Now regardless of being "burned" by a third party, you assumed the responsibility of taking a customers money and assuring them a product. You unfortunately did not deliver. Therefore in taking his money from the start, the deal was between you two.

Is there any type of proof that you paid this "breeder" 3000$? I may have missed it, but if not can you please provide proof? It is easy to blame another individual for your mistakes. It takes a real man to assume responsibility. In this community, regardless of how many good guy posts, one will ruin you. Make it right.

Again just my 2 cents

I am worried about Carson being honest enough I sent him 575 today for a male queenspin. Spent a good amount of time with him on the phone. I am confident things will go off with out a hitch

I finally received my cash refund from Carson, which is ironic because after the original deal did not go trough with the scaleless corns Carson told me I could not get my money back. He said I could get balls or nothing. I wonder why after almost three years of trying to get anything from Carson I finally received something, could it have been the public pressure? Is it a coincident that after 6 days of posting my first pot I accomplished something that our phone conversations could not do in several years? I know that anyone in business will have most transactions go through without any issues, but how will hey treat you when something goes wrong? The true character of any business or man will show when they have a difficult situation and need to make it right, normally it does not take years. I would also like to point out that I did not request anyone to post on BOI on my behalf or ask Carson not to respond, as he did.

Another a main point Carson never counter any of my allegations except for we had a deal on the banana, which we did not, and the time frame - it will be 3 years this Spring.

To everyone that questioned the inconsistencies in Carson's stories -Thank you.

Thank God, I live I Texas.

That is great. I wish it did not take this long, but the main thing is Carson did the right thing in the end. Good job for taking care of your customer Carson.

Paul,
I have to disagree with you on Carson taking care of his customers. For starters I did not even get a full refund. I received $2950 in Cashiers Checks and $25 in cash from Carson. Had he repaid me as soon as I did not receive the scaleless corns he would have come closer to making me whole. But keeping my cash for 3 years without interest is not right. If you fell Carson is so good the next the you buy anything from him let him keep your money for almost three years, you never receive anything that is promised and then to top off, not even repay you in full. Also, is it right that something had to be posted on BOI to cause a reaction instead of empty promises on receiving my money? I think any reputable dealer would have fixed this as soon as the customer asked for a refund when nothing was ever shipped, which was the original deal and I did as soon as Carson told me the first year I would not receive the scaleless corns.

But not for this thtead, I don't think Carson would have come through. Short of proving that Steve Miles was ever really a factor in the trasaction, Carson and his antics here will remain questionable. I think the buck stopped with Carson. In the future, buyers beware!

In my opinion, giving someone back "their" money after three years is not taking care of their customer, it is simply an act of self preservation, public relationship management & damage control caused by the affects of the BOI.

This is not a shining moment of customer service, this is only a response of "oh crap, now everyone else sees what I have done".

In every post Carson submitted here, Carson made it seem as though you wanted other snakes and not a refund.

If you read this thread in full, you would know that Carson has made NO attempt too prove anything. I Don't believe there ever was a third party involved.

Ok so I have done numerous deals with guy on scaleless ratsnakes
Plus I was shipping them and corn morphs and other colubrids to a exported to go overseas

So I posted on line that I was looking for corn snake morphs and king snake morphs hog nose morphs and other rare mutation and scaleless rats etc for overseas customers

I received a phone call from a guy name Steve miles from Camden SC
Stating he had some scaleless corns and hets and some regular corn morphs
So I was very interested I needed corn morphs for a overseas order and I knew guy was really liking the scaleless corns

I asked Mr.miles where he picked up his scaleless corns and he told me BHB
And he sent me a few photos and answered all my questions and I felt very confident on sending him money

So I sent Steve miles the money

We set up shipping a few times and nothin happened
I started to get stressed about the situation and I asked for the money back and I was told let me see what I can do well what he did was shut off his phone

I took some steps to see what can be done and nothin was accomplished
So I just gave up and wrote it off for the year

So I was telling one of my buddies about what happen and he called me a dummy because he had scaleless corns and eggs in the incubator and I had some kind of hope
Well the eggs went bad along with 80 percent of the rest of his eggs due to hurricane sandy

So I was back to square one

So I talk to guy about the situation and he was all about the balls
Which was great because I can get that done

We talked about het ultramel etc
Well the male didn't breed last season
So we came up with a new deal which is getting taken care of ASAP

That's really about it

It sux and I'm not trying to give anyone a hard time
Just tough for me to explain myself to people I don't know that has nothin to do with the situation

This was 2 years ago
I couldn't even tell u anything else about Steve miles and I'm not sure i have any of the letters ect

I just wrote it off and didn't look back

I hope this help

Not sure what else to tell u guys and gals

Here you have it. Wrote it off for the year??? What does that mean? Guy was all about the Balls?

I'm sorry you guys were not able to pick up on my sarcasm in my post lol. You are correct this should have been resolved three years ago. I was being sarcastic when I said good job.

Paul I am glad you clarrified that. You had me scratching my head wondering who had gotten on your computer.

Just keeping everyone updated, Carson let me know today he is going to get me some scaleless ratsnakes. He feels he needs to do something a little extra. I'll make sure to do post when I get them.

It appears to me Carson takes this matter serious and is doing the right things to correct any errors or misunderstandings.

William, could you clarify which actions prove the seriousness he has shown? From our original deal the only misunderstanding if you could even call it that, was I would get my money back if I did not get the scaleless corns, which only took almost three years.

It was my understanding from your above post that you received your money back and some scaleless ratsnakes in addition- did he not address your concerns and refund your money and is giving you "something extra"?

My understanding is that you agreed on trades in lieu of the animals initially- this did not work out and at that time you requested a refund of your money.

After reading so many "bad guy" threads here yours doesn't sound so bad.
