Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them.     Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Ian Curtis - Stolen African House Snakes

Ian has his tongue so far up Will's butt, you'd swear you were watching a voluntary episode of 'The Human Centipede'.......don't count on hearing anything negative from Will about the matter.

Wow, I thought that this thread was about Ian and Sarah, so why are some people dragging this Will guy into it? He seems to do a lot for the hobby and just because you don't agree with him doesn't mean that he's a bad person! I've never dealt with him so who knows?

This is the only "official" response from Ian. I included Chris's response so you can see how they are hypocrites. They delete mine and David's posts, yet keep Ian's in there.

Will is the former president. I do not think that he is personally obligated to comment, and like me does not speak on behalf of the KHS. He has no responsibility in the matter. The h.s. AS A GROUP "should" determine who is fit to hold higher office. That should be the extent of their involvement.

So this Will guy has nothing to do with the club now but once did and people keep dragging him into it? Whatever.

This group appointed Ian as an officer instead of electing him and no one in the group has challenged this, so why are so many people on here upset? Are any of you actually members of this group? If you don't like the KHS and their rules then don't go to their meetings. I sure don't need them to enjoy my animals! I hope that I never run into Ian again after our encounter as he came across as a shady character. The fact that he works for animal control scares me.

Sarah, I hope that you get your snakes back or are reimbursed for them. Court seems to be the best way to do this. Good luck.

Well, Ian drug Will and the other KHS member into this. They can say it's a personal issue, and it is to a certain extent. However the manner in which their leaders address issues should be a group issue. Those in "power" should lead by example.

People are upset here, because this group goes out and "represents" the rest of us in the area - with or without our permission. So, their actions affect the community as a whole. If a leader of these self-appointed advocates for reptiles in KY can't be a role models...they're probably doing more harm than good to a hobby that we all participate in. That's why people are upset.
 
I was a member of the KHS for several years. I attended meetings, helped with manning the booth at reptile shows, went on field trips and spent personal time helping members with projects.

How are Ian and these people "representing" us? Do we take snakes on breeding loan and refuse to return them, or give away posters and then ask for cash? You are giving these folks WAY too much power. These people aren't my role models or resemble me in ANY way.

The animosity between certain people and this herp society is clear. Both sides won't change and the dead horse continues to get a good beating. Fortunately Sarah has legal recourse and is taking it. These self appointed "mediators" can stay out of it.

I'm not giving them any credit. I'm simply being realistic about how public perception works. If someone wants to join a reptile group or get involved at a local level, the KHS is the first Google result they see right after the KY Zoo. They're at the shows, they're out in the community, they're presenting for kids... I don't want that group to "represent" me as a herp enthusiast either, but until I make more noise and do more things within the local community...their voice is heard more.

But, I digress from the issue at hand. Hopefully sarah is working to a resolution.

They don't care what you think. You don't matter to them. They have their agenda and their way of doing things. They won't change and neither will you. Represent yourself as a good person and let them bring themselves down. Ian seems to be doing a bang up job already.

I just want Sarah to get her animals back or be compensated for them.

I too think that Sarah should pursue whatever avenues she has at hand to get her snakes back. She has been so outstanding throughout this whole trying process.

I wish that Christmas morning she would wake up to a stocking with a couple of little bitty house snakes in it while she's waiting. I bet if we all put in $5 maybe we could make it happen? :santa:

My second statement is not only for Sarah, it is for all of us. From time to time, we need to show that our community is strong, and that us good guys outweigh the bad guys.
Just the doing of it makes us stronger, even if each of us does just a little.
