In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

"God-Awful" Stench: Hundreds of Pythons, Some Dead, Found...

oh gawd that is terrible. The video was so sad.

Here is the text from the article:
An elementary school teacher was arrested for animal cruelty Wednesday after police found hundreds of ball pythons in his Santa Ana home. According to animal services officials 95 percent of the snakes are dead or are in various stages of decay.

William Fredrick Buchman, a teacher at Mariners Elementary School in Newport Beach, was taken into custody after police served a search warrant on his home.

Some 300 to 400 snakes, both dead and alive, were found in cages throughout the home in an environment that Santa Ana PD says smelled "god-awful." Animal services officers are wearing special suits and masks in order to bear the stench.

The front four rooms of the home were packed floor to ceiling with snake cages, officials said. Buchman was breeding the ball pythons to sell them.

The home, located at 2908 North Fernwood Drive, was also infested with mice and rats, police said.

Animal control first received complaints about the home one year ago when neighbors suspected Buchman was breeding snakes. At the time the snakes were healthy and animal services did not have a violation to allow them to seize the animals.

Four months ago, police and animal services were notified of a dead body smell coming from the home. After it was determined that it was actually a dead animal smell, animal services sought Buchman's cooperation to allow for a search of the home. When he refused, a warrant was obtained.

God-Awful Stench

The person with the 300-400 Ball Pythons was a school teacher. In the past schools allowed pets, such as snakes, in the classroom. This is no longer the case; snakes and other small animals are forbidden.

the video was all the balls in their tubs being brought out of the house, the majority dead in their cages with multiple shed skins. It did appear to be dehydration or heat/temp related possibly? they looked fat. Poor snakes.

more than just the lithium.....

Wow. I feel for him as well as those snakes.

I sure hope he's getting some needed help. This does sound like a therapy intervention would be a good thing.

Yeah it's too bad someone didn't realize it sooner and get him help. He obviously cared about them being the first to produce those in 08-09. If the animal controls knew he was getting bad in 11 when his mom died, why didn't they step in? Now we can just hope he gets help and the snakes that are in good condition can get adopted out to good homes, not just ones seeing free snakes they can try and breed this season.

We ended up taking 184 live Ball Pythons. They have to be held for 30 days. They are part of a criminal investigation. Many will require longer term care. All deemed healthy enough, will only be adopted out for educational purposes.

I'm glad they will go for education and not breeding, the poor things have been through enough.
