In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I recently acquired a 0.1 Spinnerblast enchi, a 1.0 Pastel Spider Shatter, and a 0.1 clown pied ball python via trades. I currently have them set up in glass enclosures with a large water dish, shelf liner, and a humid hide (reptishelter with Vermiculite). As they grow I knew they would out grow the cages so this weekend I am picking up a 5 stack 28 QT rack system with belly heat and a VE-100 Thermo stat. I want to continue to use shelf liner but the reptishelters wont fit and the hides I can fit have no bottom and allow for no substrate inside them. with the small airflow can I manage to keep humid environments for the snakes or how else can I keep the humidity at proper levels. Many people have told me if I the levels are low I can mist during shed but I am more of a preventative medicine type of guy especially when dealing with expensive snakes. Any help in this matter is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time,
Branden Vullo

Other than misting, if you find that humidity is way too low, a large water bowl is good to have. You can also place another water bowl in the warm side of the tub/enclosure (where the water will evaporate faster and contributes to adding humidity to the air inside the tub/enclosure).

BTW For wet hides, you don't need to use Reptishelters. Any plastic container will work (just find one that fits). Then cut/burn out an opening that the snake can fit through. If used, the wet hide should be placed between the warm & cool side (middle of tub/enclosure). You must also take care in watching for mold. To be honest, I don't think you will need to use wet hides but figured I would add this info.

Take care, also, in not having the humidity too high.

I use a humidifier in my reptile room and it works perfectly.

Good suggestion.
I forgot about using a humidifier. Funny, that I did, since I used to use humidifiers in my snake rooms. LoL
Depending on conditions, &/or humidifier models, they can become a pain though (with the filters, water, etc.).

Thanks for the replies I went ahead and got Zoo med aspen for the substrate in my new racks but I put the water on the opposite end from the heat tape for the time being to see the results my humidity even with central ac in florida is still relatively high plus now with the small amount of gaps between the tubs and the rack it should hold the humidity better but even with the glass enclosures I never had any shed problems so only time will tell, added a killer clown to the collection today. Starting to get more high end stuff hoping to keep it all in tip top shape never had any troubles with the balls I had in the past just always want to be on top of my game and provide the best conditions possible for the animals.

These are real impressive I think...

on a completely unrelated note I just realized that your name was Deb Morgan, where are my Dexter fans at hahaha

LOL Had to look up what Dexter is. Had never heard of the Deb M. Character nor have I ever read/seen Dexter (& or the series).
So, although you may find some here, I am not one of the Dexter fans.;)

I went with aspen, I just know alot of breeders used to keep babies on that like vinyl shelf liner back in the day instead of news paper
