GENESIS frogs are ecologically sustainable, totally harmless, SAFE® captive bred pet frogs having superior combinative genetics originating from same species, dissimilar parents of thoroughbred like quality. These pets replace the disruptive, and often destructive, harvest and importation of rare, wild caught or yet undiscovered, poison dart frogs. Every purchase of a captive bred frog is a conscious decision to support conservation and preservation efforts for the wild dart frog habitats and the frogs that live there before they become endangered. On that basis, and the fact dendrobates, including Tinctorius, Auratus, and Leucomelas are naturally polymorphic in identity and behavior, their offspring of the species not only vary in color and pattern depending on the mated pair of parents, where they are located, found, or moved, we should never forget they often interbreed on their own.
Still, breeding designer frogs not only requires a strong working familiarity with breeding captive dart frogs, and we surely have that in our 6,000+ offspring and ourMated Pairsphilosophy, there should be a serious commitment to observation during the courting of the parents as well as egg production, fertilization, time to morph, and all other factors associated with a successful dart frog breeding program. Like all polymorphic species, the offspring of dendrobates will range in color and pattern, with the most dominant traits of each parent being represented. In this way, the frog offspring should exhibit the best (most dominant traits) of both parents. Accordingly, all designers (i.e., breeders) should also give much consideration to the offspring that may be produced, and stay within species, e.g., tinctorius x tinctorius, auratus x auratus, etc.
When you do, the results will be stunning as seen in the gallery photos (to be added). No doubt, each and every one of our designer offspring is truly hardy, bold, energetic, and demonstrates superior athletic ability. Even at a young age, they can live harmoniously with larger frogs. Perhaps more importantly, we have proven these are not hybrids–they breed and reproduce normally. The public awareness of the importance of leaving frog specimens in their natural habitats undisturbed, but for purely scientific and discovery purposes, is fundamental to furthering the conservation of the wild counterparts and ancestors of these designer frogs and their habitats. With that said, some of the proceeds of each GENESIS frog we sell will also go towards funding research projects in the frogs’ native rainforest habitat, in hopes of discovering more about these amazing creatures, while further evidencing the dwindling numbers of frogs in the wild and underscoring the need for captive bred designer frogs as the responsible alternative to wild caught animals. This multi-level approach insures education is part of the equation and the scientific theory is backed up with real study and observation to properly conserve and prove the need for conservation and ecology.
