Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I placed an order for 2 cages on 4/20/14 after speaking to Steve & being quoted a wait time of 4-6 weeks. On 6/16 I asked him the status of my order & received back I'll check/ I'm busy/ I'm only 1 person. No further reply for a few weeks so on 7/5 I ask again & he replies my order is due in next week & will be out to me.
So after another month had passed on 8/19 (16 weeks after being quoted 4-6 weeks) I had had enough & told him to refund me. His reply was to again tell me my order would be out next week. We argued a bit with him telling me to read the terms on his website & me telling him the terms were 4-6 weeks not 16.
On 9/5 I receive the cages (never sent me a shipment notice/tracking#) & they have keylocks instead of the normal handles which I ordered. I emailed Steve to let him know & his response was that they were free options he gave me (read oh well/I should be happy with them). Ordinarily I wouldn't care had these been larger cages, but since they're small the locks take up a large portion of the doors.
I asked him to send me new doors & he told me I'd have to wait "a few weeks" (16?) as he just received his current order & I would have to wait for the following order. So a customer that has already been strung along & sent an incorrect order must now wait until other orders that were placed after mine are completed to have mine corrected? I really don't want to deal with the copying & pasting of emails, but I will if I have to. Buyer beware, there are better options out there, & FAR better customer service

I can't stand when someone tries to discredit a person when they are innocent of all charges. I've dealt with steve for 9 years and have spent much more money than you have and have never had any issues and everything has been superior quality. He's the best in the business in my opinion. And your lock complaint is total BS. You're complaining about something that you got for free and 9 out of 10 people would be happy that they got something for free. I have both the lock and the knob and the lock 3/4 round and the knob 1 1/4. How does that take up the entire door...total BS..you're just reaching for something to gripe about. As any business gets one or two a year that complains about something stupid. As a customer I know that everything is not set in stone and is marked on his website and at checkout you have to check the box that you agree to their terms and policies. It's always the people that don't read that complain about nonsense. It seems from what you wrote even tho he sent you free stuff he still was more than willing to send you another set of doors (good customer service in my book!!) You still had to complain because he didn't have it in stock how is that his fault? I'm sure you'd still complain if he had it and sent it out the same day.

I personally know of museums zoo science centers and school that have bought a lot of cages and no complaints period. It's the little guy that complains. I didn't see you mention that you didn't like the quality or the craftsmanship being that you decided to keep them. I guess the 100 people that left feedback on his website were all lying too. if i'm not mistaken hes been in business 9 years and thats for a good reason. I'm not going to let you discredit one of the few top notch cage businesses out there. Everything is top quality and excellent craftsmanship.

I decided to contact him to let him know i've seen this posted about his company and told him the name of the person. He said you're not in his data base of customers. Who are you to be writing this when you never purchased anything from him?????

And this is why I can't stand when people try to discredit a good company when they post lies to make them look good because they aren't happy with their own lives.
 
Lol, relative of Steve's eh? I see you're in the same part of Texas & a friend of his on Facebook. You sure are butthurt for somebody that just bought cages from Steve. Let him come here & defend himself. I'm not keeping the cages, they're for sale, want to buy them? They're even close to half price, the money really doesn't bother me.
The locks were free so it's ok? You must be related. Guess if he had given me white instead of black & sliding doors instead of drop down I really should've been happy huh?
You emailed him, he searched his data base, emailed you back & you posted back all within 5 minutes? You're stupid is showing, can we get an IP check?
 
It shouldn't take 16 weeks to make 2 cages. Especially when you're telling customers that they'll receive their cages in about a month.

As soon as you asked for a refund, he should have given you one.

And yeah, if I didn't get what I ordered, I'd be upset too. I'm paying for what I'm buying. And if he was going to do different locks, maybe he should have asked to see if it was okay first.

I don't care for the swing down doors. So if I paid for sliding and I got swing down, I'd be upset. It wasn't what I ordered. I don't care if the swing down doors were more money. It's not what I ordered.

This is a common complaint with Steve. I've done a couple of orders with him and the wait times were over double what he quoted.

Won't do business with him again. Oh, and if some clown say I'm not in the database, I got the proof to back it up.
 
After being told the wait would be 4-6 weeks then taking 16 weeks to deliver is very unprofessional. then not refunding after the customer asks for a refund is also unprofessional.

My thoughts exactly . It's so funny seeing this happen time and time again.

This is what happens buying from a one man building team. It's just not worth the savings for these cages.
 
Since Eric Schjerven is calling the original poster a liar I figured that readers of this thread should know that:

1. Eric has 10 posts on this website and 4 of them are defending Repti-Racks on BOI threads.
2. Eric mentions in a previous Repti-Racks BOI thread...

3. Repti-Racks is also the first one to come to the defense of Eric in his own BOI thread. Steve writes...

I don't think there is anything wrong with coming to the defense of your friends in a BOI thread but it seems wrong to act like you are just one of his customers if you are close friends. It also seems wrong to call the poster a liar if you don't have any facts.
I hope Mark will post any correspondence he has regarding this transaction.

Thanks for posting that Mark.

That should blow away the claim that you are not in their data base. I guess they were implying that you were not a customer or did not buy cages from repti racks.

Eric has posted from a bunch of IP addresses, all of which are unique to him....except the 3 that match repti-racks.

This isn't the first complaint of this nature against Repti-Racks. What's surprising to me is that people continue to be surprised when it happens to them.
FWIW, I believe that Eric has had good experiences - he's local, and a good friend.
 
Nothing wrong with supporting a seller or friend when they are in the right.

Repti racks is not in the right here!
