In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Sheesh, the weather forecast is calling for an overnight low on Tuesday night to be 21 degrees. I'm thinking that since I really don't drive around all that much lately, I should just go over to the garage every day and open up the doors, and start up all the vehicles to try to make a contribution to that global warming stuff so it will actually kick into gear. As it is, I'm likely to freeze to death before the globe actually does get appreciably warmer....

Last week we went from 68 to 34 over night in Ohio. 22 right now and expecting low of 9. Supposed to be 55 again by Mon. I just hope no repeat of last winter. That was just brutal. I live about 9 miles from Lake Erie and when that lake freezes and wind comes out of Canada, Oh boy!

So, tell me again why the earth getting warmer, with a correspondingly longer growing season through much of the temperate zones (where I believe the majority of food crops are grown) for farm crops, is necessarily BAD? ANY change is likely going to be bad some places and beneficial in others. I doubt this has changed much over the entire length of time that there has been life on this planet. Anyone expecting the earth's climate to be absolutely stable and unchanging is likely just being unrealistic with their expectations. Me? I'll take 90 degrees over 32 degrees any time of the week.

Actually as best I can tell, most people can see an average warming trend if they have been alive long enough, but apparently are just not convinced that the government can *fix* such a thing with taxation and by giving them more control over our lives, if history is any guide. Give us a track record of a government much more adept at fixing ANYTHING and not being absolutely self-serving, and then maybe they will get much more buy-in with their hoped for plans.

Besides, aren't the same scientific groups that are predicting the effects of global warming the same people who have developed the modeling for predicting the local 10 day forecasts? If so, good luck on that long term forecast...... I sure wouldn't bet the farm on that one.

I don't know why the whole Global Warming thing is being used between both sides. I would think the idea of reducing carbon emissions, coal, oil and all would be better explained and justified as reducing pollution that sickens millions and kills thousands yearly would be enough.

I also believe there is middle ground on how quickly and efficiently that it happens. One side wants it done yesterday and other side wants to wait until it is too late.

Well, one side's argument is effectively "Let us raise taxes and give us control of even more facets of your life and you will have to sacrifice now in order to try to prevent something bad that we are saying may happen long after you are dead and gone. Trust us." The other side's argument seems to be "Would you mind proving it first, BEFORE yanking even more money out of my wallet? No we DON'T trust you." Personally, I pretty much side with the later argument.

I guess it all boils down to (1) Do you trust what the government says are it's true intentions, and (2) Do you trust what the media says via their supposedly unbiased "reporting"?

In my opinion, I say NO to both.

Neither is known for being truthful.

Last winter, they jacked the utility rates, so our heat & electric bills were 2.5 times higher (than the highest bill in the three previous years in this house). I'm expecting that they'll do it again this year...I just hope that it's to a lesser extent.
I still like this picture....

Yeah, I don't ever want to live someplace where someone could flick your earlobe, and it could shatter.....

That is a very visual statement.

On the other side of the coin, I don't wish to live somewhere that stepping outside midday could result in being boiled alive.

Yes but you are using the whole global warming issue. I am looking at it as a health issue. We know that man is polluting at an extreme rate. We devour acres upon acres of land every day. Just look what has happened in just 200 years. A blink of an eye. No we don't need to fix everything today but we need to work faster than we are now. Most scientist world wide know we have an issue. Gov only twists facts for there agenda. Pro or Con. I could say, Yeah well I'll be dead in the next 25 or 30 years so no big deal. I believe one day a species related to us will be discussing how we died out because we did not know how or when to adapt. ;)

Between making some changes around here (closing off and not heating the huge second story attic bedroom/living area which is only used a few times a year by the kids when they visit and stay over) and by the ongoing contracting for my electric rate, I'm hoping the winter utility bills will be lower this year.

Well there is no doubt that humanity is hell bent on soiling it's own nest. I can just drive down the road through my own property to see all the trash the locals simply through out of their vehicles rather than taking it home and putting it in a trash can. And apparently some people are under the belief that if they throw their trash in the water (we have a stream on our property that the road goes over), it magically just disappears from the universe.

Our highs are in the low 50's and our lows are in the low 20's high teens. We've had the wood stove going for almost 3 weeks now. It's a strange cold as it doesn't feel as cold as it says it is, but it's not as warm as it says it is. The air is only cold if there's a breeze. Supposed to be a pretty bitter winter. We'll see how it eventually goes.

I read that 38% of the USA has snow on the ground right now. In November.... Imagine how bad it would be if we weren't deep in the grips of global warming right now.

How many record low temps have been broken so far this year? I read that there were 1,360 record lows broken over the last week as of an article published mid afternoon on 11-18-2014, which does not include the cold night we had last night.

And remember last Winter? How was that for most people? Nice and toasty warm?

Quite frankly, perhaps we should all be making more strenuous efforts FOR global warming rather than against. This current "global warming" about chilled my finger tips to the bone while my wife and I were covering some tender citrus plants this afternoon. It got down to 24.5 degrees last night and might be a repeat of that again tonight. If this keeps up, I might just wind up being real glad that I still have that snow shovel I kept as a souvenir when we moved from Maryland to Florida.
