There goes the condescending JCCS again.
Anyways how do you figure they destroyed Ohio (my state)? I've read the laws and been in touch with the Ohio Department if Agriculture, and the big snakes that are listed as "restricted" only NEED permitted WHEN they reach 12ft. Venomous need permits regardless of how big and you must show you have personally trained with someone to handle such animals, have protocols in place incase of escape and financial responsibility if someone was to get bit, also have access to antivenom.
I rescued a retic about 2 weeks ago, he's only 8ft so have 4ft to go before I need a permit which after talking to ODA, seems fairly easy to get as long as you have escape proof locking enclosures, they want to see their food to make sure it's adequate I believe, and that's about it. To keep them is $150 a year and to breed is $300 a year. Although I don't think they should charge you every year and I believe they come to inspect once a year to make sure you are adhering to the law and as long as you are you're good.
Yea the Zanesville incident brought it up front but from what I've read and been told peta and other organizations had been harassing our state government to put laws in place so we have these simple laws. I don't think Ohio was "destroyed" I believe I have the screen shots from the ODA website if I do I will attach.
Rodney, I'm starting to understand your point now.
Do you have any concerns with how Phil is running USARK at the moment?
Ohio's restricted snakes, this is by no means "destroyed"
That is the law, I put up the screen shots. I also spoke to the ohio department of agriculture personally. Maybe you're thinking of the laws Jack Hannah wanted but not what's actually in place. I was read the law by the guy I talked to. And I'm NOT a felon so no reason for them to deny me.pull up the actual law that was put into place and also read up o the required insurance requirements for some of the stuff...also look at the people that were told they would be grandfathered in and the people that were told they would receive a permit. And are now being declined. ..also so when you go to get your permit for the retics they will do a criminal background check and if they decide you don't meet their requirements to have a 12ft retic you have to relinquish it to the state and pay to have it shipped to one of the Irish designated facilities. .the issues in Ohio have only started
I don't break the law, never been caught with weed, never been arrested on a felony, nothing. Do you live here? Do you have first hand knowledge of the permit process ie: applied for a permit here in Ohio? Or just told a bunch of bs by felons who couldn't get a permit when you cannot have a felony on your record. So in Ohio if you got caught with weed ever you probably arnt fit to own a big snake...
Yes I'm ok with this because it's what responsible keepers should be doing in the first place! Only thing I have an issue with is paying every year, but I pay every year for dog licenses so what's the difference??And you're ok with this
Off topic but it's dumb to have to pay the state to own a snake or a dog.

Your point? It's just small stupid stuff you have to follow that's not DESTROYING Ohio! And why don't you post it here? I've looked it up a million times and what comes up is what I posted. So if you have info I cannot find why not post it here?Read the zaa requirements that people have to meet..also I help raise a lot of money to fight that law...I like the part about having a sign on your car for transportation

Oh so you can't post the link? Why's that?
You tell me to read it, I ask for the link, you say no you've read it. Why not post the link? I posted the oda guidelines when you say ohio was destroyed but you can't post one link??No iv read the law...look up the zaa caging standards you will have to meet to get your permit
You're at work, have the time to comment on here, but not post ONE LINK?? I'm also using my phone, come up with a better excuse.I'm at work you look it up and post it..I have it on my computer I'm using my phone

I'll be sure to call the ODA again tomorrow and ask if that 6.5 ft tall includes home keeping. Not many cages built for these snakes unless hand made are 6.5ft tall and I'll check to see if thay means for one or more since right above it says something about keeping more than one together.http://zaa.org/accreditation/zaa-standards
that's the standards the law requires. So, you need a *minimum* 6.5' tall enclosure.
Some of the requirements are just absurd. Even FL doesn't require that...
