    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Please don't go offtopic for the sake of engaging this person. She's on borrowed time here; it would be a shame if she took others with her.
 
How can you defend this guy? Ok if a child molester has mental issues it doesn't allow him to be near children. This guy may have mental issues, he definitely shows a disregard for animal welfare. He should never be allowed to have another animal again. Especially reptiles period!

If he is mentally ill he should get help.
 
Did you just seriously compare raping a child with what amounts to someone abusively handling a lizard while having a psychotic break? That's some kind of special logic going on there with a huge splash of having no idea about any of the issues you've spoken of. With any luck, someone with your knowledge level won't be the one making decisions about Ben's care and future.

Ben returning to the pet industry would be like an alcoholic being a bartender

This is not an isolated incident for this guy. If he has psych issues he should recieve treatment.

He always talks down to people and twists their words. I understood what you were trying to say, if someone does something horrible and has a mental disorder or "psychotic break" that doesn't mean they won't be prosecuted or remanded to a psych facility for treatment. I agree Ben shouldn't be allowed near animals until he gets help, and is forced to stay on his meds.

While some medications have bad side effects which is the lesser evil? Thinking a little slower, drowsy, etc or continuing on this rampage he's been on the past few months while people make excuses about his mental health. It's not an excuse if you can get help but refuse. Everyone saying he's got mental health issues aren't helping. To me it sounds like excuses. The man needs mental help and that's not said in a derogatory manner, it's true. And until he gets that help he is a danger to himself, the public, and animals now.

I'm sure I'll get bashed for this but oh well. Everyone's allowed their own opinions but there's some people on here that like to talk down to you for having your own opinion.
 
I have been breeding animals in south Florida for twenty years, and I have never known Ben to be good to his animals. I have never seen him more interested in the care of the animals than he is in the profit he stands to make from their sale.
 
I have known Ben for years since his shop was in Ocala and before he moved South. In the last couple years I have been out of reptiles due to some family issues, however, whenever me and Ben and some of the large breeders hang out at shows he was professional, he has told me about his AA meeting and he was doing great. I heard about his decline through other people, but guys sometimes personal issues can lead to a lack of judgment and cause a domino effect.

Right now he needs more support than criticisim. What he has done is done its in the past, now he needs help as much as he can. just morally and emotionally. sometimes you need a person to hit rock bottom before you can help him crawl out of that well.

posting negative things in the past is not gonna help. Lets post ideas to help him get better not to place blame or piont fingers

ALL we are saying, BEN, needs to stay out of the hobby for good!! He needs to help himself and remove himself from the reptile hobby. I will not condone/support that behavior Winston.
 
I agree with you Casey.

Ben was customer based driven as long as I have known him. He try to satisfy his customers and sometimes go beyond.

I believe everyone deserve second chance
 
I have a very ill brother in law. When he is fine he is the most awesome guy around. When he's not OK he is a handful. He once wiped out all my tarantula's I had with bleach during one of his bad times. It was hard not to hate him for awhile but then I realized that every so often he just loses it. That was a few years ago and he is much better once he got a good doctor who didn't feed him a bunch of meds. In fact he has only had a few very minor instances since that time. So yeah, I hope the best for Ben. It's not easy at all.

Rumor has it his ex wife is back from living in Calif , liquidating the business. Not sure what he can do or cannot do as his ex wife did at one time have a restraining order against him

.This time because of him being incompetent to even understand the charges against him, he must stay clear of his own business as well as his prior employees.
 
Jerry, do you have any supporting documentation for this rumor, like a link, convo, etc? At this point, BSR is still selling animals and holding auctions.

Which would be perfectly normal activity for any company starting the process of shutting down.

BSR's Articles of Incorporation when it was first formed, which are available using the Florida Secretary of State Business Entity Name Search, list a Stacey L Siegel as VP. Assuming that is his ex-wife she could have the authority to close the business.
