In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I recently purchased a 450+ gram female Cinny Pied from Vincent.
It was shipped September 2nd overnight.
I walked out September 3rd to find the package not on my doorstep but showing delivered.
After looking into it, it either was stolen or misdelivered.
Long talks with FedEx and Mr. Menna concluded that he opted for no signature (without consent, but I can understand why he did that to prevent it from overheating but thanks for the heads up right?) and also opted for no insurance. The cost of the snake was $800, how do you just ship it without saying anything to the buyer when you plan on shipping a snake that cost $800 with no signature or insurance at all?
He didn't state his shipping policies at all regarding the high value snake.
Ok....sure, not everyone thinks of the worst.....

My biggest problem is.... FedEx requires the SHIPPER to complete the claim filing.
They told me that they would have to refund him the money.
Today is the 22nd, instead of trusting his word, I called FedEx to check the status of the claim, they said no claim was ever filed, so he LIED!

And now....he isn't to be heard from. It is so simple as to file a claim, I get my money back and he makes a customer happy and everyone wins.
With him refusing to actually file a claim and lying about it, he gets his money but now I'm out the snake and my original $800, but he doesn't seem to care because he isn't responding.

AVOID A SALE AT ALL COSTS! For me it was a very large cost.

He DID offer me a credit at first.....but he doesn't respond so I wouldn't be able to use the credit if I wanted to!

If you could post screen shots of the conversations that would better help your case, also was it shipped directly through fedex or did he use a company that ships with fedex like ship your reptiles or reptiles express?

I am sorry that happened to you.
He never notified you of shipment, tracking # etc?
I have never heard of him, has he been doing this very long?
Sometimes a more experienced buyer might insist certain thing are done prior to shipment, phone call, sig required, proper temps etc.
Shipping a live animal is a risk, if he did everything without any input from you, he is 100% responsible for the animal until it arrives safely.
Have you checked with the neighbors to see if it was delivered to the wrong addy?
Good luck

I checked with the neighbors.
It was either misdelivered or stolen off my porch.
If you can give me a way to pull the text list I will, but they are lengthy texts tip just screen shot lol.
He used reptiles express who I was supposed to get a call back from however I still haven't.
He gave me shipping number but never told me it was being shipped without any insurance or signature requirement.
Unfortunately, I'm not an experienced buyer of online reptiles, seems tho that if he were in the business of offering such an animal that was so costly, he would require both......
That is what I figure to be common practice for snakes more than your every day $80 spider ball python.

He gave me shipping number but never told me it was being shipped without any insurance or signature requirement.
In the future you will know that when a shipper gives you a tracking #, that means you can get online in a hr. or so and see info. about the package, and when it will arrive.
It is generally not a good idea to make assumptions when dealing with live animals being shipped, he may have assumed giving you the tracking info. was enough. Always always always have a clear understanding of everything that will/should transpire. I have heard of animals cooking on the front porch while the receiver waited patiently expecting the driver to knock on the door etc...
Good luck, but IMO if he gave you tracking info. you are both responsible..

Again... As somebody who doesn't frequently purchase reptiles online, and by the fact that it sounds like I'm supposed to be an expert in my first try and probably never will buy online again because I would think that in any rate it would be explained in detail something such as insurance or signature being declined......
In my opinion, common practice would be to require signature or add insurance for lost packages with it being such a high dollar snake. Is this not? Because at any rate for pivots reasons that sounds way too risky (such as my case).
And anyone that had not had experience with shipping would hopefully think that shipping such a high cost item that IS this small would purchase insurance on the basis that it is that much more possible to be lost.
Doesn't sound like I will be purchasing any more reptiles online if it sounds like it's common practice to put so much risk on the line when purchasing costly reptiles......

But regardless of which is common practice and who is to blame for not having the insurance, a claim is still to be filed as insurance is the no hassle way to receive repayment, and also includes damaged items.
The seller initially stated he would help me file the claim, but then quickly became noon responsive.
His final words were "the package shows delivered, I have fulfilled my duties and the transaction is concluded and nothing else is required of me."
However I replied stating that I understand that he sent the animal and I wasn't disputing that, but that I was needing him to file a claim thru fedex as only he could, and have not received anything since.
All because he got his money and as long as he has that, he's not willing to help me.
So that is why he has failed, and earned his way to a negative BOI.

Brandon can you please post the texts?
I have sent Vincent a link to this thread. I am interested in why from your explanation he first said he would give a credit but is not responding.

All shippers that I deal with, require a sig, keep me informed every step, including how it is packaged for heat, cold etc. I check tracking info. to make sure it is routed correctly ( I had to call Fed Ex once because I could tell my animal was headed south instead of north to Michigan).
And in turn, I contact the seller as soon as I take care of the animal to let them know it arrived safely.
If you talk to very many shippers, I imagine they all have a horror story they could tell you.
Mine is, we shipped a dozen baby beardies to New York shortly after 9/11, (maybe 2 weeks after) and it took the "overnight" package 2 days to arrive. It was cold at the time, and the heat paks died prior to the beardies arrival. They were all alive, but I think 6 did not make it :( That was my fault completely. Good luck in the future. I hope this
[Vincent Menna /QUOTE] makes it right with you.

Lucille,
Somebody else asked me for the text chain, which I will gladly attach, but I can't do snapshots, as the text chain is very lengthy (mostly me with no response from him, only when threatened with PayPal dispute after no response for over a week of trying to get in touch with him). So if you know if a way to download the message chain from Galaxy S5 then I will gladly add it.
And I was hoping he would make right as well.
I opened a PayPal dispute when I realized he was not fulfilling my request for PayPal to get him to file the claim but PayPal doesn't involve with that.
He said that he was told he could not file a claim because it shows delivered, but every time I'm on the phone with fedex, they state that because there was no verifiable way to prove it was delivered to the correct address, that a claim could still be filed, but that only the shipper could file it.
Currently I have had my credit card company reverse the transactions, which PayPal advised me to do, as this would in turn take back the funds from the seller, and then he WOULD have a reason to file a claim, and see how miraculously when HIS money is taken, he would file one.
I've also been in contact with my attorney and local police regarding the case due to the FedEx drivers story changing multiple times.
I get that the seller can only be responsible for so much, but if a claim needs to be filed..... You should do so, especially if you chose to waive insurance and signature.

I was about to ask what was the actual Fedex drivers response but interesting you state " it has changed several times"
Could you elaborate on that?
Even though a signature it NOT required on a parcel, the Fedex or UPS driver still has to scan it himself when he delivers it and the time of scan should be able to correlate to where he SHOULD have been on his route and at least give some idea if possible it was badly misdelivered as you say the neighbours have not seen it.

But above all I so sorry to hear that your very first online reptile buying experience has gone so horribly wrong, it should have been a joyous occasion!
I know that even now I still get excited at the prospect of a delivery with a new animal......wait I DO have a yt cribo arriving today.....
It never gets old and I hope you do get a satisfactory resolution and please do not give up hope for the herp nation!

I looked thru my texts and found the text. I realized that it was when I spoke to him on the phone, is when he offered the credit initially as he stated he talked to a bunch of breeder buddies who he says told him that "it should be all on me", but that he felt bad and offered one.
However, attached is the snapshot, that shows him reaffirming the credit (bottom of the first bubble) , but if I can't reach him, how am I supposed to get that credit?
Also stated that initially in texts that he would "have to check on insurance as he wasn't sure if he got it"

Ann's after this I called fedex and they again told me that I was still allowed to file a claim (until they realized I want the seller). They said they found it odd that he would be told that he couldn't file a claim, they said that nobody should be telling him that he can't file a claim as they admit that mistakes cam and sometimes do happen with delivery.
He put more work into having fedex call PayPal when it was HIS money at risk but didn't do squat for me. Didn't have this fedex rep call ME at any point to "explain" that I couldn't file a claim..... Because I would have told them bull, I have every right to file a claim.
But I don't think that this was the case... Fedex had only 1 record associated with this case and that was a tracer to attempt to find the package, no delivery dispute process or claim attempt.

If he offered you a credit in lieu of having to deal with Fedex but then you did a Paypal and chargeback and continued to talk to Fedex, I can sort of see why he would no longer respond to you. But if the credit offer was recent and subsequent to all of those actions by you, he should respond and honor the credit.

I already filed thru PayPal, but only AFTER he wouldn't respond, that's actually the reason I filed was over his non response.
PayPal stated that they were only able to work out if it was not showing delivered via tracking or if it was received and significantly not as described.
They recommended I dispute thru Visa cardholder bank, which I have.
They said that holding the seller responsible for completing the claim process was out of their hands.
And no Craig, this isn't the same snake I'm selling, lol.
This was the female that I never received, causing me to sell my male.
Here's a picture he sent me of the female I was supposed to get, very beautiful and very high white.
Would have been a GREAT deal had I actually gotten her lol.
