In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Painted Reptile Lied for Money

Geoffrey, he cannot change the title and I assure you that the site would never do that.
Did I miss the recent and so on or perhaps you missed the final step in displaying the info?

I get the sense that Drake is backpedalling.

Okay, the emails coming through when people are responding to the thread is saying "Bad guy Painted Reptile Lied for Money" but in fauna at the top of the page it says "Painted Reptile Lied for Money"

and yes I agree it does seem like there is a little back pedaling going on. I have posted those pics to my gallery, but still can't seem to get it in the thread. I really wish i could figure out how to do that.

Thanks for the info though, I did put in parenthesis that i may be wrong about the name change.

Now that you are here and registered it seems OK to post this screenshot to assist you.

reptileguy112- why did you not return the reptile the next day?

There is really nothing that can be done about this now. The TOS of the store clearlly state that

NO refunds on live animals.

NO exchanging live animals.

Animals will be replaced within 24 hours of arrival, ONLY IN EVENT OF DEATH!

Even though the seller gets bad marks for selling to a minor he knew was going to be a problem.

The buyer has to due diligence on this.

For me this wasn't even about returning the animal. If the situation was presented differently I would have gladly given a return. If the customer had said he purchased and animal he didn't like or event said that the animal was not the right animal for him I would have gladly returned it. But, everything was presented from a slanderous state attempting to make us look bad. I have debunked everything this customer has said and he has backed out on everything else. I think this was a very unfair way of attempting to make us look bad over his bad purchase.

I understand the topic of me getting bad points for selling to a minor, but it was a minor whos FATHER was there, a minor who I DIDN"T EVEN LET TOUCH UNTIL HE GOT HIS DAD. When the dad comes over and gives permission for the purchase, how am I still supposed to turn the sale down?

In this particular case, I feel that if I told this customer no to purchasing the animal, there would have been more slanderous UN-TRUE stuff that was presented.

How should this have been handled? Should I have just turned the kid and his dad away?

ON TOP OF THAT THE KID WAS FEEDING THE LACERTA WITHIN A FEW HOURS AFTER GETTING IT HOME!!! There was clearly no acclimation, there was clearly no regard for the animal they just brought to a new environment and he was pumping it with Dubias with in the same day. This is just an animal the customer treated as a commodity and when he realized it wasn't what he wanted he made up whatever he could to return it.

when he realized it wasn't what he wanted he made up whatever he could to return it.
Buyer's Remorse, but he tried to harm your business over $60.
I think this thread has value, future prospective sellers can read it and decide whether they would want to deal with Drake.
We have plenty of younger members who conduct themselves responsibly and ethically and who research prior to purchase.
If Drake were to try to buy anything from me, I'd turn him down.

I just read this, no I'm not 11, I am a freshman. My father was with me and the person behind the desk said I needed a guardian because im not 18. I do realize now that I mixed up the asking price to what I purchased it for, it was not a lie just a simple mix up. I was going to probably get a bearded dragon or an akie monitor and my father never told me no monitors and if you said monitors were not discussed why did you day he said no? I am not trying to attack the company it was simply a bad experience and you should be able to recognize that as an employee. My father never tied anything not to buy the reptile he simply said it was my money and to do what I want. You are exaggerating so much, it even says in the email you pasted that I said about 16" not that is wont get more than 16", it might get a couple inches bigger.

These are the types of vague statements that are reminiscent of responses from past shady or dishonest people. You're not eleven. Got it. You're a freshman. Got it. You're not 18. Got it. Why did you avoid telling your age? Do you think saying you're a freshman gives you more credibility than revealing your actual age? Clever never works on the Boi.

Is there something wrong with feeding it a couple small roaches? I'm sorry I didn't starve it for you

This thread needs to get back on topic, there is absolutely no need to belittle and harass the OP. He made a mistake and made an impulse buy, then gets buyers remorse. I don't think Painted Reptile has anything to worry about in teputation, from what he said, it sounded like he did everything right and the father is responsible for letting his child buy a reptile without research. Please be wary about posting on the BOI, and use this as a lesson learned.

Immature "suggestions" to the OP aside, this is clearly a case of buyer's remorse.

A young, inexperienced herper who seems to be seeking an impressive lizard he can haul around, perhaps... something more for the ego (?).
No, he did not research the animal prior to purchase; he seemed to be more interested in how large it would get and whether he could handle it, instead, IMWO.

Yes, IMWO he erred in bringing this issue here. I do not see where the seller is at fault at all.

Yes, Drake, do your homework, do your research first. Do not make impulsive purchases; if not for yourself, for the sake of the animal. Decide what you want, make certain you can meet that reptile's needs and requirements first.

If you own chams, you should know they are "look at, but do not excessively handle" animals. They are also very needy as far as their husbandry requirements. I hope you respect and are meeting those requirements, for their welfare.

I applaud your interest ... step back and keep learning. Do not, however, call foul or exaggerate facts when you haven't done the research and didn't get the bad azz lizard you wanted.

Take good care of that Lacerta girl. She now depends upon you.

I do realize now that I mixed up the asking price to what I purchased it for, it was not a lie just a simple mix up.
Perhaps you could go into politics. You were quick to call your seller a liar, but when it comes to your own behavior, well, that's just a 'mix-up'
Jeweled lacerta, I believe its a female. 10 to 11 inches long. Perfect health, has all toes, no nips, nice and plump. Make an offer, not including shipping. Im located in northern California if you want to pick up. I will consider to trade for a nice beardie, an akie monitor, or maybe something else just tell me what you have.
I hope potential buyers beware and realize that you are prone to 'mix-ups' and that there may be legal problems with this sale because you seem to be a minor who seems to suddenly have issues after a sale.

The seller is only at fault for selling to a minor, which turned out to be a punishment in itself, and something I have stopped doing regardless of parental approval. It just never goes well.

http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/showthread.php?t=549316

He is currently trying to sell or trade it for an bearded dragon or ankie monitor.

I would imagine he is trying to sell it. I just want to go out there an say that i do not feel at all that this customer should give up the reptile hobby. I just think things needed to be presented properly.

The customer had even been previously asking about how to CARE for the Lacerta of the chameleon forums, where they got mad and told him not to post stuff there. http://www.chameleonforums.com/mini-tegu-lacerta-care-144059/

The customer has also created the same slanderous post on ChameleonForums.com trying to put out the same wrong info about our company and the sale. http://www.chameleonforums.com/has-anyone-bought-painted-reptile-144152/

Unfortunately, I do not have a Chameleonforums.com account do dispel the rumors and defend our company.

Who knows what else this customer has done to prove his COMPLETELY INCORRECT STORY.
