In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Painted Reptile Lied for Money

The seller is only at fault for selling to a minor, which turned out to be a punishment in itself, and something I have stopped doing regardless of parental approval. It just never goes well.

Yes, I guess you are right! Thought at least with the dads approval everything would go well, but I guess its time to alter the company protocol.

This OP is fully responsible for his purchase. I agree that he's having buyer's remorse, but he's way out of line the way he's handling it. Take a deep breath OP, and grow up just a little bit. Always research your animal before you purchase it. Everyone has a smart phone with Google at their fingertips. Take some responsibility and ownership in your choices rather than slandering the seller on the internet..

Based on this thread I do not see painted reptile as the bad guy at all, and I have learned a lesson myself regarding selling animals to younger buyers...

Perhaps you could go into politics. You were quick to call your seller a liar, but when it comes to your own behavior, well, that's just a 'mix-up'

I hope potential buyers beware and realize that you are prone to 'mix-ups' and that there may be legal problems with this sale because you seem to be a minor who seems to suddenly have issues after a sale.

Nicely put.

Geoffrey, I would definitely insist in the future that all sales be made with the parents, not just with a parent or guardians' approval. It's just better to cover your behind.

I will add that I was at the Sacramento show, and while I do not think I witnessed this sale, I did hear the guy (presumably Geoffrey) at the painted reptiles table tell people that the Lacertas were not hands-on (I think he said nervous or high-strung) BUT he had seen someone walking around the show with one, so I doubt he told this kid they were cuddlebugs.

The customer has also created the same slanderous post on ChameleonForums.com trying to put out the same wrong info about our company and the sale. http://www.chameleonforums.com/has-anyone-bought-painted-reptile-144152/

Unfortunately, I do not have a Chameleonforums.com account do dispel the rumors and defend our company.
I do have a Chameleonforums account. I did log on and see his post questioning the care/husbandry of a Lacerta.

The slanderous post he made against you, Geoffrey, must have been removed, thankfully.

~ Afterthought ~

I was also amused to see him soliciting other members to offer their chams photos so he could practice his Photoshop skills to enhance their chams. Sorry, but that rubs me the wrong way, especially when I see a Fauna member who does advertise here take him up on the offer.

I was browsing the Sacramento Craigslist and happened to come across this ad. The information (the seller listing them as easily tamed and a good beginner reptile) struck me as odd. Is this the same animal that was sold?

So it looks like Drake, the OP is really the one "lying for money" like he's accusing the seller of. You're not making a good name for yourself in the hobby Drake.

Wow, he wanted a refund because it wasn't "tame like a bearded dragon," and then he flips it on craigslist as "easily tamed like a bearded dragon" for more than he paid. Sounds like there should be a "Reptileguy liked for money" thread instead of this one.

It also rubs me the wrong way that he keeps calling it a mini tegu when it isn't even in the same taxonomic family.

:iagree:

I understand that the OP is on the young side but that does not negate this behavior. Beginning your journey into the reptile hobby by lying about a transaction and now flipping the animal does not bode well for how people perceive you.

So that's the OP's solution...dump an animal you never really wanted onto someone else and be deceptive in order to make it happen as soon as possible? Don't you care that the creature may end up in the hands of someone who has no idea what to expect or how to care for it? Selfish and heartless.

I looked him up on Facebook and he looks really young. One of his posts said 14, but he appears way younger than that. Anyone more versed on with this site than i am can post a screen shot of his Facebook profile.

I'm not making any excuses for him at all, as he is saavy enough to try and bash the seller on different forums. He's ruining his future in the hobby...

Drake had a chance to move past his immature behavior here, and instead he did the opposite. Trying to scam somebody into buying your animal with information you KNOW is false, is absolutely unacceptable, regardless of your age. Shame on you.

Im seriously trying to get past this, I know it was wrong and it wont happen again. Do not post my pictures online

Drake, you've compounded your error by your sales description. Obviously, you are NOT trying to get past this.
