    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Inquiry Big Apple herp

I have ordered numerous amounts of supplies from them over the years. Never had any problems, answered questions promptly when I have asked, and the orders came fast and well packed. I have never, however, ordered live animals from them.

I have ordered supplies with no issues.

I can't remember where I heard/read it but IIRC Big Apple doesn't stock critters, they drop ship from ReptMart (or the affiliated wholesaler).
 
Have you considered going to a local show and buying from a breeder? That way you can pick out the gecko and save money with no shipping.
 
I've ordered both supplies and reptiles from Big Apple Herp. The supply order arrived with no issues but unfortunately I ordered 2 Mountain Horned Dragons from them and received one healthy MHD and the other was dying. I contacted them and per usual procedure for such things required a picture and information on anything that was done on arrival. They contacted me about 48 hours later stating they would send me a replacement. I waited about about a week and a half before contacting them and they stated they did not currently have one available and would send me a replacement as soon as one became available.

Fast forward about 2 weeks later and I finally received the replacement MHD, it arrived healthy but I soon noticed the MHD was gravid with eggs. My new MHD about a month later laid eggs. Just in case I purchased an incubator and other supplies and shortly later candled the eggs to see if they were fertile to which they were. Which required me to purchase more supplies.

TL:DR- I purchased 2 Mountain Horned Dragons from them received one healthy and one dying contacted them had to wait a while to receive a replacement only to receive a gravid female. Which should have not been shipped while gravid. Customer service was not terrible but not the best I have dealt with from reptile community.
 
I have, but every time they happen I end up having to work that weekend :/ I might end up doing that though if I'm able to get off from work the next time

I ordered supplies from them years ago. The service was quick but one more than one occasion things I received defective items ; a thermostat that didn't work and ceramic heater/bulbs that didn't get warm.

The made good on them but it required constant 'friendly reminders' about it. I'm sure if I would have relaxed about it they would have let it go ....

Fortunately , since then better places and equipment have come along , like Spyder Robotics and Reptiile Basics.
 
I've ordered supplies with no problem, but personally would not order animals.

For animals, I prefer to always go to a direct source (reputable breeders). Just my opinion.

Supplies are great, but go to a show for your animals, it will be well worth it with the knowledge you will gain by talking to the vendor, and the quality of the animals is very hard to beat (usually). Plus it keeps the $$ local.
 
I have ordered supplies, but you need to shop around. Sometimes they're cheaper than others for the same product or can be as much as $20 or more more expensive for the same things. It's been over a year since I ordered anything but last time I did was an mvb bulb for an iguana I had and it did come in new, working order.

I would never order their animals though. Just like some of those other companies you don't get to choose your animal, they choose t for you.

Yeah, like I said I won't get the gecko from there, but I'm looking into the food they sell. I might be getting a gecko from either samanthas geckos or I'll try to go to the next reptile expo that's in town.

Bad people to deal with. Their TOS woul make you pay for anyshipping return on livestock. They never see the animal as its shipped from elsewhere. Be very careful when purchasing any livestock from these people. Lousy operation with zero customer service.
