    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I periodically go through and prune my Subscribed Threads list. Apparently, I have been lax - I added a subscription so I could easily check back on a thread from my home computer, and was surprised to see that I am (well, was) subscribed to 748 threads. Yikes.
Go ahead, fess up - to how many threads are YOU subscribed.
 
0; I never subscribe. I already feel too much compulsion to keep up on what's going on around here. The last thing I need are notifications to prod me into reading even more.
 
Yeah, me too. Zero. I figure if i need to be following something, I'll learn about it soon enough.
 
I was keeping it at under 20 for a long time...a lot of the ones in that list were threads I subscribed to so I could check something when I got back home, or to remind me to keep tabs on somebody. That's also the main reason my mailbox keeps getting filled - messages I keep so I can follow up/check for compliance.
 
I cut back to 247. I let them accumulate automatically via involvement and then prune if I find particular ones especially tiresome or overly well-beaten.

I'm pretty sure I turned email notifications off as soon as I figured out how - even 11 yrs ago, that was annoying.

I do like the subscription feature, which is why I haven't disabled it; but I've tried to keep my subscription list in check since I saw a thread about that a long time ago.
 
My subscribed threads list currently states I have 568.
These are, solely, due to having posted, in those threads, and not due to manually subscribing to them.
I turned off my email notifications awhile back.:yesnod:
