In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

any snowstorm fans?

It has finally started snowing here in NYC...which means it won't be long before the whole city looks like some Cloverfield monster just finished taking a giant dump on it.

and we'll be shoveling that dump tomorrow..and yeah i was way off on my prediction:eek:, started here on staten island around 9:15.

Not me. I sincerely hope I never see that white crap in person again for the rest of my life.

Florida won't save you..it white-craps there too;)

Although we have had maybe 3 days in the 24 years I have lived here that a few snow flakes actually came falling out of the sky, NONE that I can recall ever accumulated on the ground. It appears that if it is cloudy enough to form precipitation, it retains enough heat underneath the clouds to keep the precipitation from freezing. All things considered, that is acceptable......... :D

Wind's seriously picked up here. There are parts of the front yard with only an inch or two on the ground; other parts where it's drifted to almost knee deep. Pretty much impossible to guess how much has actually fallen at this point.

Well everyone be careful out there; hopefully there's nothing serious enough this weekend that requires any of us get on the road.

I've actually been to (thru) Tallahassee a dozen times headed to PCB and man when it rains IT RAINS!

same deal here except it's like dust to 1" drifts.

I am from PA and I do appreciate watching the beauty of a snow storm through a bay window.

That said, not having to deal with that anymore is pretty sweet and, if I ever miss it too much, I suppose I could always pay to give snow a visit for a little bit.

Before I went to bed last night, I checked the weather radar and was aghast to see pink colors scattered all around me, indicating sleet. But when I used the flashlight to peek out the front door, all I saw was rain coming down. I was afraid I might see ice crystals reflecting back at me. The ground is way too warm for freezing rain to do anything much here.

It's still only 44 degrees here and supposed to drop down to 26 degrees overnight. I don't think I'll be trying out my new battery powered saw to clear out dead bamboo stalks like I was planning to today. This watered down Florida blood I now have in my veins just can't take those kinds of temps any longer. Will have to go out to cover some sensitive plants, however.

All in favor of GLOBAL WARMING say "AYE!" AYE!!!

NYC shutdown

Sooo...all non-emergency vehicles must be off the roads by 2:30, and trains/buses are stopping service at 4pm here. Starting to wish I had stocked up on some more snacks yesterday....

aw, the snow misses you. Speaking of bamboo, is it true about their explosive growth and you can never get rid of them?

Thanks for posting, had no idea.

Well, it's taken years for my groves to start getting some size to them. As for getting rid of it, why would I want to?

BTW, I found a video I took back on 01-29-2014 showing some frozen participation that actually did stick to the ground for a short period....
