    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I've been using these with really good success especially where you don't need a proportional controller. They can be set for a very narrow temperature range, so even though they are not proportional, they can keep a pretty right range. They can handle a pretty heavy load so I am using them to control space heaters and fridges. Another advantage is they can heat or cool. I order them prewired from etc supply. I have also used them to control RHPs and they worked fine for that, too.

I have several that I use on my colubrid racks, and they work well for that application. I wouldn't use an on/off thermostat in an incubator, but they work well with heat tape. I have a few units that have been running for 8 years with no problems.

Why??? I use a proportional on my incubator. Started with an on/off and temps would vary 2 degrees with a Vivarium Electronics. I use only Herpstat now,and it varies 0.2 degrees.;)

Not sure I understand your question - you're asking why I don't use an on/off thermostat for my incubators? I don't use an on/off for precisely the same reason you stated (2+ degrees temp fluctuation). I use a Herpstat proportional for the same reason you stated (fraction of a degree fluctuation).

Kathy

I have 3-4 Ranco running rack systems .... they work great for that application and never a problem ... incubators on self-contained or Herpstat proportional thermostats like the above ... the application dictates the thermostat for the job :)
