Info Need some advice on a situation involving Alea Rodriguez.

Good deeds? Good deeds? Really then why do I have 3 sick snakes now because of his good deeds? He wanted to ship them second say air..... I said no..... he also wouldn't give me the vet phone number where he got this supposed baytril.... I asked twice. And guess what now I've got 2 other sick snakes because he shipped all 5 together. I would have gladly paid extra for him to get better and be shipped at a later time. But no instead they stuffed them all in a crappy put together box with hardly any padding what so ever so sent them on their merry way. He didn't do any good deeds as far as this is concerned. Also I posted a very nice very respectful review not bashing nothing just suggesting what they should improve on... this is the backlash I got from that... also yea I did do a case on paypal for the care because they didn't give them care if I've now got 3 sick snakes that come from their facility. What's even more funny about this is they say they tried calling me... I don't talk on the phone and conversations we have had on the phone were polite respectful no yelling involved and lasted maybe 30 seconds so I'd like to see where they tried calling because they havent.

Incase anyone's interested this is the review I wrote.

I've been having my reservations about posting this, but I've decided it needs to be done. In December I had herps alive alive foundation take over care of 6 remaining reptiles I left in someone else's care. They wound up there because I fell on hard times. In now way is this post meant to tear down the foundation in any way they did so much to help me. I feel the review needs to be put for others to know they did help me but also point out where they need areas of improvement. Keith and the foundation was a huge help to me and I am greatful for that, they also caused me alot of unnecessary stress. So here it goes. In March we started arranging for my reptiles to be shipped to me (in screen shots) I also arranged for them to sell my female irian Jaya to a friend. It had to be postponed the first time due to having a family emergency (also in screen shots). Later that day after I'd already cancelled me and the buyer realized they had gave him the entirely wrong snake. They somehow got my irian Jaya carpet python mixed up with my jungle carpet python. The situation was fixed. A few more times passed of missed shipping dates but he did keep in contact somewhat. Finally they are shipped out April 26th and arrived the 28th (the delay was an error on fedex) the box they came in was sloppily put together with hardly any padding or otherwise (i did not take pics or video as I was more worried about them than proof of wrong packaging). The snakes were incredibly cold on arrival. When they got here I find my largest boa clicking, popping, wheezing, and just down right sounding like a kid with a horribly snotty nose. There is no way he wasn't audible when they packed him for shipping. He was shipped with 4 other snakes sick one of which is a python the rest are boas. 2 of them are starting to get sick now as a result of it. This is where keith communication went down hill. I understand he's busy. Well it got to the point where it felt like he just down right didn't even care my snake was sick as a result of bad shipping and horrible packing. I'd go a couple days hearing nothing back. I lost any source of income I had back in February and my savings were spent trying to survive so I had none for vet care. shortly after moving home our car broke down as well. So I had no money or a way to get him to the vet (keith was aware of this). As a result of fedex delaying the shipment I was due a refund of 100$ from the foundation and planned to use that for a vet visit. I did get the baytril but no Instructions or labels on it and I asked keith twice for the info to the vet so I could ask them about it myself all for it to go completely ignored. I asked for the dosage info as well which u was told 5-10mg of meds. The syringes were filled to 3ml which is why I was asking to begin with I'll add they weren't all the same fullness either. I was very weary of giving him the injections since I had no clue what was what. I ended up calling my vet and they explained what likely was going on. I did give him the injections he (my boa) got his 3rd last night, so far so good. The other 2 are going to the vet this week. This is basically the story some personal conversation that doesn't pertain to this matter was omitted from the screen shots.

I'll add again keith gisser and the foundation did so much to help me they really did and for that I'm greatful.

Where they need improvement:
1. Proper identification of animals going in and out of the facility they were there 4 months mislabeled according to keith.
2. Communication, I get they are busy but communication is part of running anything and I feel they lacked in that area a little.
3. Care of the animals an ensuring their health and safety. My boa should have never been shipped sick let alone with other animals in the box with the sick snake.
4. Packaging protocols. I was told that was the box my animals were originally shipped to Ohio in. Wrong the box i made was not that sloppily put together I spent 3 hours cutting and placing the foam for the box I sent them in originally. I don't know if it was them who made it so sloppy or the person whom I originally sent them to decided to just be rude about it. Either way the box and packing was horrible.

Note: I do not have all screen shots for everything because my phone had an issue and needed to be wiped. There were phone calls and messages between me and keith regarding the mislabeling and selling of the wrong snake.

THIS IS NOT MEANT TO PUT DOWN KEITH OR THE FOUNDATION THIS IS JUST A REVIEW OF WHAT HAPPENED AND SOME IMPROVEMENTS THEY SHOULD CONSIDER.

Another funny he won't respond to where I posted the very polite review but will come here and do it just to draw attention to this thread. I may be a bad person in everyone's eyes here and I don't really care. He didn't do anything good at the end and to me in my opinion that wipes out and good he may have done in the beginning because he didn't do it out of the goodness of his heart, he was paid to do it and didn't. If I were to of been paid to care for someone else's animals those animals would not be shipped sick, those animals would not have gotten sick in the first place. Also my communication with the person would be a lot better than ANYTHING he did. Oh yes this time I've got screen shots!!!! Of all of our interactions well not all but some.

LOL it's not really even that, it's like this guy made a mistake with a fairly unpopular python species that most people get mixed up with. I could name most boa, ratsnake, ball pyhon, most snakes for that matter, and thier thousands of morphs/combos just by looking at them, but australian carpet pythons have many subspecies, localities, and some of the morphs are simply phentypical that show a certain trait that isn't necessarily a mutation, and are extremely hard to tell apart, but this guy runs a rescue organisation and offered to be the mediator/middleman because this phychotic woman was convinced the other girl was attempting to keep her snakes when she wasn't. it was literally like, A:Who said I was going to keep them? B:Fine don't give them back A: I never said I wouldn't give them back B: go ahead steal them...... the fact that the word "keep" was in the conversation somehow nullified and voided every other word in the sentence, so he wanted to help, now she's trying to steal from him(taking back funds), ruin his name, and I know nobody here is stupid enough to beleive this schizoid, but it doesn't matter. How did him having a mixup, selling the wrong snake, driving to switch them and get the right one back, not to mention the fact that he went out of his way to sell it to come up with the money to ship her snakes back to her, make her BOA sick LOL? It's insanity and it pisses me off. Done ranting for now. Without rescues, all the constrictor bans would've happened a lot sooner and those that were fought wouldn't have been reversed, and floridians would be neck-deep in burmese pythons and god knows what the fate of unwanted reptiles in the rest of the country would meet.

While I agree with the vast majority of your post, you are the one who brought this up when the thread was 'revived', are you not? Whether or not she is a diagnosed schizophrenic is, in my opinion, completely irrelevant to this deal. You have brought it up more than once (this makes twice) as if it is something to discredit her and that is not.

I do not know if Ms. Rodriguez is schizophrenic or not, nor do I care, as it is not a reason to discredit her, nor is it a reason to give her sympathy. I find it completely unnecessary to bring up.

She has done plenty to make herself look bad without bringing that into the picture, and bringing it up like this makes it sound like you are criticizing her because of that. I disdain people using real illnesses as a descriptor, as if they are an insult. It is petty, in my opinion, and brings the value of your post down.

Ms. Rodriguez, you still need to prove that any snake you got is sick. You claimed that you got them with a clear problem and you still claim they are sick, but have not bothered to prove it. You post your conversations, but not one photo of the snake being sick.

I asked on the Facebook post why she did the charge back and she claims it was to see how he would react!?! Who does that? That is the most ridiculous reason for doing a charge back I've ever heard. I don't believe the snakes are sick at all, if they were her reaction to my question would have been "because he didnt fufill his end of the agreement and my snakes were returned to me sick and I need the money I paid for boarding back to pay off what I owe the vet" or something like that. Definitely not to see what kind of reaction I can get out of him. Still waiting for proof the snakes are sick, I don't really think there is any tho.

She said the snakes were confirmed sick, if that's true it should be easy to post the vet bill. It will have the diagnosis on the bill most likely, my vet bills always do. Pictures are ok proof but a vet bill with names and dates and a diagnosis imo is much better. She used the word confirmed, to me that means they went to the vet, only a vet can confirm a diagnosis, breeders and experienced keepers can make educated guesses but not a diagnosis.

Maela, you are very good at posting screenshots, so it shouldn't be that hard to post a picture of the sick snake(s). If the RI is as bad as you say, capturing it in a picture will be easy. Since you have acted like a petulant child who has not gotten her way, I do not believe the snakes are sick; prove me wrong by posting pictures.

You very immature, it's sad you didn't reflect upon your actions here and mature some in the passing months.

Keith, I'm sorry you are having to deal with her mercurial behavior.

I agree that proof that the snakes are actually sick is absolutely critical here but, even if they are, you stated yourself that it took two days for them to arrive due to an error in shipping (not Keith's fault) which could easily have contributed/initiated an illness in what was shipped out as a healthy appearing animal. Trying to place the blame on Keith for purposefully sending a sick animal is misplaced at best.

Know Keith casually as we both run reptile rescues (several states apart) and everything I have seen/heard from him only reflects his passion and dedication to these animals. He has driven several hours out of his way, running his own rescue projects, to help me transport an animal to its forever home without ever asking for monetary help in return.

All I see here is Keith once again going above and beyond trying to help animals that 99% of other animal welfare organizations turn away while you stamp your feet and act like a child. Be grateful for everything Keith has done, when he did not have to assist at all, and focus on caring for your snakes.

All I see in the conflict between Keith and Alea is Keith accommodating her. He didn't push 2-day shipping - he immediately agreed to overnight them. When he became aware he sold the wrong snake, he fixed his mistake. When she mentioned the boa was sick, he offered her Baytril so she wouldn't have to incur any further costs. And now she wants more money from him?

1. She insists that he only did the trade to get money. What money? He's out some money from shipping, however much from the transport from Elexis's house, and however much from correcting his mistake with one of her friends (which I do think is rightfully on him to cover). She agreed to pay for Keith to transport the snakes - Elexis laments as much in earlier posts. She lost nothing from the carpet python mix-up. She lost nothing from receiving free Baytril. Keith offered to pay for a vet visit via credit card. Is she trying to suggest he should have shipped her her own snakes back to her for free, in addition to the time, money, and supplies he's already gifted her? Did I miss some additional fee or donation that Keith or his rescue received?

2. If this boa is sick, why is there no evidence of a) the illness and b) a vet visit? Did she attempt treating the boa with the Baytril? Why didn't his offer to pay for a vet visit via credit card suffice? She could have gone to the vet at her earliest convenience and he could have had it charged with a five minute phone call to the vet's office. With PayPal charge backs, the process takes days at the very least. Has the boa been taken to a vet? If it has, how did she pay for it, if Keith allegedly has her only money to afford it? If it hasn't, it seems odd that she would choose to further risk her boa's health by delaying an appointment to contest $100. I feel like most people would quickly and happily accept an offer to have vet bills paid by the rescue - I know I would in that situation.

These animals, if sick, could have been exposed to the bacteria causing their respiratory illness MONTHS ago, the stress of shipping would simply have dropped the immune system to the point it could flourish.

These animals have been moved three times in a short period of time. There is literally no way to know how or when they picked up the bacteria specifically and without a culture being done the bacteria itself cannot even be identified.

Therefore, to place blame on who happened to be the last person that touched these animals is absurd as they literally could have been harboring it in small amounts with their original owner. I mean, seriously, these guys have been through a game of hot potato here.

If you cannot afford the vet then you need to find someone who can. Placing blame squarely on Keith without any evidence to prove he is responsible is just grasping at straws.

He literally went out of his way to help you.

He made a mistake on identifying a snake species he was unfamiliar with, he fixed it; get over that part.
