Julia, have you read this entire thread? One of the documents Robert provided me (the second one) was a body disposal receipt for $75, issued upon the supposed death of the tortoise. My tortoise is clearly alive, healthy, and in good hands with another FaunaClassifieds user Robert subsequently made a deal with.

As soon as Robert provided me with the 1st supposed vet bill that claimed the tortoise was sick, I immediately called Parrots of the World and was told that no man by the name of Robert Brunner had visited the clinic.

The problem is that you have nothing in writing from them, so no proof - unless you recorded the calls.

I've compared the picture of the tort you were sent by kytuan with the one from your sales ad and I believe they're the same animal, but since the pictures are from different angles and in different lighting it's difficult to match up specific patterns. I see the tort's new owner kytuan is currently viewing this thread - can you post a picture showing the tort in the same orientation as in the OP's sales ad?

Also kytuan do you have a copy of the sales ad for the tort you purchased? Where was it advertised?

It's up to KYTuan to oblige -- frankly, he has no real motivation to do so.

I completely disagree that one cannot discern them to be the same animal. Take a look at each scute. It's not "difficult" at all, and there are no "lighting" or "angle" problems.

Frankly, I never fully believed Robert Brunner's story that the tortoise had died because I owned the animal for 6 years. 15" healthy tortoises do not suddenly perish. Unfortunately, I never had any proof until KYTuan reached out to me this morning inquiring about the history and full lineage of the tortoise -- hence my posting this thread today nearly 2.5 months after this transaction had completed.

Looks like there is pretty convincing proof that you resold the tortoise. You didn't pay him the remainder of the balance and sent him the ring as collateral. Looks like you still owe him money, so the ring is his for now until you pay up. It's a shame the two of you didn't decicde on a reasonable timeline so he could pawn that sucker off and at least get some money out of it. Good luck in small claims court, though.

The good transactions won't show someone's character, it's how they handle the bad ones that do, and you appear morally and ethicallty depraved in regards to the issues that have come up. I sincerely hope that you don't act like this with your patients.

Here's the original deal terms texted to me the night before we did the deal. See for yourself. He promised I would receive $250 a week towards the balance owed.

If read our original text message, I was very skeptical of taking the ring to begin with and I didn't even want it. I wanted the entire $5k balance upfront, but was willing to work with him due to his situation. I took the ring as collateral almost as a favor to Robert because he really wanted my tortoise.
