There seem to be quite a few bullies percolating around here lately, you got to keep your sense of humor and perspective, and realize that when it is all said and done, they usually hurt themselves far worse by their own behavior than they hurt anyone else.
These posts are permanent, and anyone doing an internet search for Dr. Brunner will probably come across this thread, and he may have some splainin to do.

OP how do you know the ring is fake? Did you have it appraised? Also was there ever a timeline discussed in your deal with the buyer, where if he failed to make a payment how soon afterward you could sell the ring to cover the amount owed? Also on what date did the buyer get the tort from you - did he have it for a few days, a week, several weeks...?

In going over the text messages you posted you offered a refund for the return of the tort several days before it passed away. Did the buyer ever agree to that? In reading over the texts you two apparently live close enough that there would have been no need to ship it.

In my experience the people who threaten to sue never do. The ones who do have an attorney on retainer either just do it, or they have their attorney send a demand letter first.

As an aside, the good Lord above help my husband if he sold his wedding band or used it to secure a loan. Granted it isn't worth much, and since he works with machinery every day he rarely wears it, but he would never hear the end of it from me.

I repeatedly offerred Dr. Robert Brunner a full refund after he claimed the tortoise was sick -- multiple times. Each time, he came up with some kind of lame excuse to keep the tortoise. I will be posting additional batches of our text messages in the days to come.

I think what folks are overlooking is that regardless of whether the tortoise died, I am owed $1300 by Robert.

It is completely flabbergasting to my mind why any individual in a highly competitive profession requiring 10+ years and many tens of thousands of dollars in education and training would be willing to tarnish his reputation in the public eye any way, let alone on a tortoise deal worth only $5k. I'm not sure if it's pathetic or just downright crazy. The layers of lies and deception Robert was willing to put himself through can only be described as a testament of his insanity.

His previous BOI, that has been linked a few times in this thread, was handled in a very similar fashion. Seems as though a common denominator is money shortage. I would venture to guess he will try to make it right, if it is handled like the previous one. Does not explain why he would be willing to tarnish his rep. Just some hopeful insight.

It feels like a cheap trinket from a thrift store. Not to mention, it's horrendously ugly and I can't imagine anyone actually wearing something like that. The moment he presented it to me in person when we were doing the deal, I told Dr. Brunner that it's a fake, but he insisted that I accept it.

I wouldn't go by what you "think" it's worth. After my mom passed away her jewelry was appraised so we sibs would know how much it was worth when we divided her estate (my sibs and I took fairness to an extreme). Two rings that we all thought were rather unimpressive turned out to be platinum, and worth a ton more than I would have ever been willing to pay for them.

Also another thought on the vet stating that Dr. Brunner had never been there - my vet won't give out any case info about customers or patients to third parties without a written release - I know because I had to sign one earlier this year. His vet may have the same policy, hence the reason you were not given any info.

I do find it very amusing and oh so convenient that as this bad guy boi surfaces suddenly a couple of good guy boi appear, sorry but I do NOT believe in those types of coincidences.
However even if all are genuine and is just very fortuitous timing remember this, although it has been said MANY MANY times over....
It is not how people react to good transactions its how they deal with the ones that go bad that really shows their true nature.....

- It was given to this Pathological Obnoxious condescending liar as collateral for an additional 1300 owed...He wanted me to come pick up adapter and gift him thru Paypal ..Hr did not ask for collateral ...I felt guilty owing money so I INSISTED he take it for a few days till he gets the balance
- The turtle was sick ..had pneumonia .. It was wheezing when I picked it up and I questioned him.. But he said it was hissing and it always makes that noise since its aggressive ...and we were outside since he would not let me in ...
- The vet records are real... And actually I am surprised that it is being questioned ... ANY proof it's not real ???!!!!
- I AM upset about ring ...and was a mistake on my part to give him... But I cannot give this piece of trash another cent..my wife and I discussed it and we are getting a new pair
- He has zero proof I did anything wrong ...because I did not !! it's dead as a doornail..Tuan and I were discussing a different radiated
- I appreciate all your concerns ...but thank God I have 5 healthy kids and a flourishing medical practice...no financial or mental issues...and I do operate...and guess what..nowadays u can have your nurse check a website while your operating

The vet who picked up the phone seemed extremely confused and said the clinic was getting ready to close up for the night. Also, read my previous posts stating that I was willing to offer Robert a full refund on multiple occasions.

Almost as though he reached out to the individual to come forward. Not that there are rules against this, but just feels like a feeble attempt to justify his credibility to me. Makes me question his actions more so. Such a busy individual, but IMMEDIATELY responds to the good guy thread. Do you even get notification for good guy thread initiations?

And what? You are telling us while you should be focused, STERILIZED, and involved in a possible life saving / altering surgery, you have your nursing staff update you on this thread? Like am I in a dream world. I don't even want to know how much you are compensated for those surgeries. But, I would hope you are more invested in patient care than that........

You are a doctor ? If it was true that the critter was wheezing, I'd expect that you would have recognized the difference between wheezing and hissing.

This is very true. I'd like to see more proof that this documentation is real / fake.

The photo of the bill from the first post indicates that it was paid via credit card ending in 6818 or 6878. If it's legit, it seems like it should be easy for the good doctor to provide a screenshot of his credit card account that shows a corresponding charge which fits the date and amount shown on the bill.

If the records are real, prove it's the tortoise he sold you. You said you were trading for another tort in the beginning, how do we know YOURS wasn't sick and you're fraudulently using THAT ones death papers to scam this guy? Also I thought you said he wouldn't let you anywhere near his house, now it's that he just wouldn't let you inside? Having trouble with your story there doc?

I thought of that too. Even the nurses are sterilized, they wouldn't dare touch a phone or computer while in the OR. Pathological liar is what he calls the op but we have at least 2 threads that prove that's him who's the liar.
