In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Steve Lloyd [Vfxsteve1815]

I feel its only fait to defend myself. I was contacted the day the animals arrived and was told they look good and thank you. I was then contacted almost 3 weeks later and was told that only the female had mites and what to do. I was contacted this past Friday and I emailed right back. Then I was contacted again on Monday and told that the problem had gotten worse, and he asked for a full refund. I told him that I would not offer a refund because it has been 3 weeks and I can not be held responsible for a animal 3 weeks out of my care. Maybe the husbandry on his end was not correct, maybe he didn't give the animal water, maybe he has not fed them. How am I suppose to know what happened to the animals once they leave my care. but I said let me think about it and I will come up with a solution. I emailed him back later Monday night and said I am willing to replace the animal but it would have to wait till next season because I do not have any left, but I would give him first choice next season. I also decided to offer him a partial refund even thought I didn't feel I had to since this was 3 weeks later. I retracted my offers today since this post went up and he blasted my personal info (but covered his up) I was hoping to be able to deal with this as adults but I guess he does not want to deal with it that way. If there is anyone else that has any problems with any animals past or future, contact the seller within 24 hours and give the them a heads up that there might be a issue.

Sorry but the picture presented of the animal BEFORE it left your care is a VERY sorry looking specimen and one I would be ashamed to even claim ownership too never mind sell and ship to some poor unfortunate new owner!
There is NO getting away from the fact that it looks like you sold an animal that was nearly at deaths door already and you should be embarrassed and ashamed!
No we do not know what the op has done with her prior to this thread but from the looks of pre shipped animal it probably would not have mattered at all........
Offer a partial refund and be done with it, or is what is left of your reputation worth so little to yourself!

Steve,

You failed to get em a tracking number. I had to do that myself - remember?

You failed to get me the name of the product you 'recommended' from Petco - remember?

The people of this thread seem to think the picture you offered, and clearly my fault for being a sucker, shows the animal was in bad shape to start.

I didn't say the animal looked good when I got it. I just said it had arrived - remember?

Many over the years. I have never been burned before. I guess this is life. I'm very disappointed to see him make an offer to give a partial refund only to retract it. I know this community is forgiving when people try to make things right. I've seen people exiled and welcomed back. I still genuinely believe that he was under the impression this snake was fine. Which is why I bought it. Why did I think this? Because I believe in people, and when we lose hope, we lose everything.

Its this kind of aloof-minded trope gobbledy-gook that will leave you up the creek without a paddle. People for the most part, suck quite frankly. And if you have many years of experience in this hobby, you should've known better is quite the understatement. You cannot be that naïve, at least for your sake I hope you're not.

That being said, there is no defense for the seller......the animal he knowingly shipped out not only had mites but also was clearly in a steady health decline before the buyer received it. Not ok, not even remotely.....EVER.

Steve sold you a crappy, poorly maintained snake. The photo by Robert Walker showing the poor care this snake received is a great tool for anybody contemplating a purchase.
Womas are tough as nails; you almost have to try to kill them. I have had several and I can say this snake was on death's door when you received it. Truthfully, I would never in a 100 years buy from a guy who maintained a baby woma like this. And to top it off he has mites in his collection.

How about you explain why the snake was covered in mites and why it was in such poor condition prior to YOU shipping it out? Maybe YOUR husbandry was not correct (actually, scratch the maybe, it DEFINITELY was not correct). Maybe YOU didn't feed them.

Forget contacting the seller if there are problems, STOP shipping out problem animals to make a quick buck and the buyers won't have to police you.

Kyle, open a Paypal claim, and if your Paypal is backed by a credit card, start gearing up for a chargeback. Send the 'before' picture and a copy of this thread along with any other documentation you have.
Do it now and do not close the claim until you are satisfied, once closed it generally cannot be reopened.

Steve, if those "before" pictures are yours, this is pretty clear cut without wiggle room. Are those before pictures yours?

If they are, just send him a refund and be done with this. You shouldn't have sold the snake to begin with. This is a simple:
1. Make it right and move on
OR
2. Go down in flames over a sick snake & $200

pretty simple...

Look at the condition of that snake when YOU had it! Disgusting! Looks like you sold someone a sick snake and it isn't t an isolated instance or a one-off mistake because you've done it to someone else recently too! Now the buyer's out the snake and his money, and you aren't out a damn thing. You sold a sick snake to someone unexperienced who would've known better otherwise with the pics that you presented BEFORE purchase. Now the snake is dead and you're blaming the buyer. If you want to deal with things as an adult, then perhaps you should behave like one and operate with some honour and integrity and NOT sell sick or poorly kept animals. Go ahead and try to pass the buck, though. Despicable.

It's sad that you're right, and I'm trying my best not to let this experience ruin my outlook on people, but honestly I'm very upset, and afraid I will never be able to purchase an animal from someone on this forum again; without a positive BOI. I really try to treat everyone with the respect I would like in return. I just wish Steve had felt the same as I did. This transaction has been a nightmare. I hope there are no hard feelings about our exchange previous. I appreciate your insight and knowledge.

In case there is any doubt I wanted to add this picture to the thread showing the pictures he sent me on OCT 13th 2016. You should be able to see the attachments listed in the body. The Male is on the right, but as mentioned before he seems to be alright despite the mites I am treating now.

Thank you for taking the time to break down the photos and point out egregious signs that I over-looked. I hope this helps someone else not get duped. You have been a great help too and I really admire that quality in you. Thank you.

I did send a request VIA PayPal requesting $200 dollars back, but I didn't 'turn it over to PayPal.' Would it be best to do this? I think currently the dispute I have sent is to allow the buyer and seller to work things out. If I escalate this to PayPal it states that it may take up to 30 days and their decision will be final, and closed. I've contacted my credit card company and they have suggested to try through PayPal first and if that fails to contact them back to dispute it. My PayPal is linked to me credit card. I felt I'd be more protected this way as opposed to my debit card. I just want the $200 back, I don't feel right asking for the entire transaction to be refunded. Thanks a whole bunch for all your and everyones help in this matter.

I am sorry I have made a mistake. The photo I attached shows the male on the LEFT.

The female is on the right.

I retracted my offers today

Do you feel this seller is going to 'work things out'?

In post#2 there is a screen shot of your buyer saying he received the animals, and thanking you. I didn't see where he said they looked good. Where is that? I'm sure you can't be making that up?

i am confused as to what steve is trying to say there
is he saying that mites from other peoples reptile shipments that are in the same cargo area as his are going to jump ship from their box and dive into his box????????
that is a mind boggling thought
or am i missing something?
smells like prime horse manure to me.......

Sure looks like that is his claim.
The chance, of this happening, is so *extremely* remote that, if not ridiculous, it borders on the ridiculous.

....

It also seems quite telling that Steve jumped on here , made one completely thoughtless post that only dropped him further into the deep brown smelly stuff and has not been seen or heard from again.
From present actions and correspondence I very much doubt he will "do the right thing" at all and ops present action of filing PayPal claim would appear to be his best direction in this.
This seller has been added to my "no fly" list for sure and hopefully many other peoples. I have had many Woma,s and they are not like BHP babies who can be difficult to get to start to eat, they generally start off very easily on rodents and eat like little pigs so to be in that condition reads maintenance feed only...or worse!
Feel sorry for the op and the poor lil girl who did not make it due to some sellers lousy husbandry or greed or maybe both!

Well said and thank you. I have submitted the dispute and hope things will work out in my favor.

You deserve a refund for the female. It is clear that she was not healthy at the time of purchase.
Shame that the seller has not, and will not, do what is right.
I hope that you win the dispute.
If, for some reason, Paypal does not find in your favor, don't forget to follow up, with your cc company, for a charge back (on cost of female).

....

Maintenance feeding would keep a snake healthy and in good, sellable condition. This is definitely not what happened here. Poor thing. :(

You will need to follow up with your credit card company, PayPal does not cover live animals under their refund policies. That being said, the animal was obviously ill prior to being shipped.
