In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Obama to Fire National Guard Chief During Inauguration

It is what it is, but certainly not what it was.

The president-elect previously ordered that all of President Barack Obama's ambassadors leave their posts by Inauguration Day.

Trump decision, Not Obama's

Yeah, does seem to be a conflict in how this is being interpreted, doesn't it? Seems like both sides are quite willing to engage in "fake news" whenever it suits them. I have to admit, that I trust Obama much less than I trust Trump. But ask me again in four years....

Yep. Also it's normal when a new administration comes in to do some "housecleaning", and for staffers involved to get a heads-up so they can make the transition smooth for their successors.

I know some diplomats upset because it has been past practice to allow their children to finish school before leaving.

But ask me again in four years....

I am trying to give Trump time but sometimes I wonder for how long.

Yeah, I've been trying to look into this, and I'm still not sure what this really means. Apparently it is SOP for an incoming president to replace all staff and positions appointed by the outgoing president. Not sure if those people turn in their resignations under the outgoing, and the incoming accepts or rejects them, or what.

Apparently there are news organs that are claiming Obama is up to something by firing the national guard general, and others claiming that Trump is up to something by firing him. :shrug01:

Not that it should matter much, I guess. It's not like the troops on the ground would just stand around with their fingers up their nose if some crap comes down and they don't have brass at the top to issue orders.

I'm betting it will be an absolute zoo in Washington D.C. then. Maybe even a zoo where all of the cage doors have been opened up. Probably would be a good place to stay away from, and try to watch a live stream online.

But I guess no matter what the next four years brings, it certainly won't be worse than what we would have gotten with Hillary and Bill back in the White House. I'm actually thinking that from all indications so far, there is a better than even chance that things will get a LOT better. I don't think anyone can say that the way this country HAS been going was looking very bright for us.

Yes Rich it is normal that staff are replaced (although some stay) Usually past presidents would allow time and not have everyone leave at 12:01. Like ambassador to Germany would stay on until his/her children finished the school year.

General Schwartz was picked by President George W. Bush in the summer of 2008; President Obama kept him on for the entirety of his two terms. At least he only loses a position and not his job.

First time I have seen a black man by the name of Schwartz.

there's good old alex jones

I can't say I have followed Alex Jones much over the years, if at all, but honestly with this recent election stuff, he seems to have been pretty much dead on with his predictions and interpretations of events. Sure beats the hell out of the crap that the mainstream media tries to feed us.

It is SOP for the Nat. Guard general to submit a letter of resignation to the newly inaugerated president. That president can either accept it or reject it. This general was originally appointed by W. Obama rejected his resignation letter when he was inaugerated the first time, thus letting him stay on. According to procedure, the general again submitted a letter of resignation at Obama's second resignation, and again it was rejected. Trump has rejected his letter of resignation, so he will be leaving.

Now you know "the rest of the story," as Paul Harvey used to say.

Well, if both Obama and Trump rejected the letter of resignation, then why is the general leaving?

Because I'm an idiot. Trump accepted the general's resignation, rather than rejected it. I'm having a blonde day, and it's Monday. Bad combination. **sigh**

So, effectively, TRUMP fired the general?

With all the talk of planned disruptions of the inauguration with protests and likely conflicts, this sure seems like an odd thing to do. I haven't seen any indications that Trump is stupid, so I guess the only thing to assume is that he has a good reason for doing something like that. The guy has enough business sense to know that keeping your cards close to your chest is usually wise.
