In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Ebates - as good as free money.

Not sure how many of you already know about this Ebates thing, but Connie's sister turned us on to it a while back, and so far it's been working out better than I had expected. If you make purchases on the internet anyway, some sites offer a cash back deal by going through Ebates that is transparent to you. You make the same purchase you were going to make anyway, and you just accumulate a small percentage back for each purchase that winds up with you getting a check in the mail for pretty much doing nothing differently than you have been doing before making online purchases.

Now not all sites participate, of course, and percentages you get back will vary from one site to the next. But heck, even 1 percent is still one percent back in your pocket. Plus Ebates runs specials that are worth keeping an eye out. For instance, purchases at Walmart.com were earning 10% back a while ago.

You won't get rich doing this, but heck, a penny saved is a penny earned in my book.

So if you are interested, give it a whirl -> https://www.ebates.com/r/ZUCHOW10?eeid=28187

If you sign up through the link above, I get a bonus applied to my account with them if you make a purchase using Ebates, and you also get some money applied to your account as well, right off the bat.

I don't normally make infomercials like this here, but heck, this has worked out pretty well, and thought maybe some of you all would be interested in cashing in on a pretty decent program. Not much you can say bad about getting free money. If there are strings attached, so far I haven't gotten snarled up on any of them.

And moderators, YES this is really me. My account has not been taken over by spammers!

I joined and so far in just two days I got $13 cash back. They pay 4 times a year so I won't actually get the $ until November, but I appreciate the info concerning this program.
I purchase a lot of my non perishable groceries online (instead of lugging stuff like cans of tomato sauce or 40 lb boxes of cat litter to my car and from the car into my home, they are delivered to my door, free shipping) so just ordinary shopping seems like it will net me some Ebate $.

Yeah, this is basically a no brainer for anyone who purchases stuff on the internet. Ebates doesn't cover every website out there, of course, but for the ones that it does, you get money back, even if it if only 1 percent.

So if you are going to buy stuff anyway, what the heck, it IS just like free money with very little effort on your part.

Oh, and for those people who think this is just some sort of money making proposition to benefit me, just go directly to http://www.ebates.com and sign up directly that way. I really don't care. I thought some people might find this program an excellent way to keep more money in their pockets.

I had to take a detour to set up Paypal for my cash back so I certainly hope you got credited for my signup. I don't know why anyone would not just use your link, after all, your effort in creating this thread is going to mean cash in our pockets.

Well, I really don't know if I got credited for your signup or not. But thanks for thinking of me, regardless. There might be a way to check on their site, but honestly, I just don't worry about this stuff. If I get free money, great. If not, I'm not out anything.

Anyway, you probably should have arranged such that they send you a check for the money you get back. I found it pretty funny to get a check they entitled "BIG FAT CHECK", and it was for something like $12. Evidently a lot of people are taking part in this program because when I was laughing about it with Connie, the bank teller said she sees them all of the time.

I signed up using Rich's link. Now I just need to see if their link to Amazon picks up on my "Amazon Smile" so USARK continues to get a percentage of what I purchase as well.

Hope everyone who has signed up gets some "BIG FAT CHECKS" out of it. :)

Connie actually talked me into this, as she has become quite the coupon queen lately. And I think her sister is more like the coupon empress. I have to admit that when I get it in my mind to buy something, I pretty much wring out the internet looking for the best deal I can find too.

I guess not too many of you all are interested in this, but honestly, it's not a scam as far as I can tell. If you shop on the internet anyway, it seems that most places I usually buy from honor this Ebates stuff. So yeah, one percent isn't much, but if you are going to buy stuff anyway, then why not get a little bit of money back?

Quite honestly, I greatly prefer shopping online over trekking all over town in person looking for something that I may or may not find. And even if they may have it locally, I can still pay for it online, pick it up at the local store, and still get some Ebates money back on it.

What's not to like about that? Who doesn't like getting a discount when they can?

Seriously, I hate to sound like I am hawking this as a high pressure salesman, but damn, this just seems like a real good deal to me. I don't even care whether you use the link I provided or not. Who knows? If you earn enough money this way, maybe those that haven't yet can afford to spread around their new found wealth to get a paid membership on this site with the money they saved. :D

Both Connie and myself are using it, and it really is a no brainer, in my opinion.

I tried to use it last night since I had an order to place with Amazon anyway but the redirect from the ebates site to Amazon kept dying on me. Could have been my crappy ISP though.

Sorry, but I believe that Amazon doesn't use Ebates. Which doesn't affect me personally, because I refuse to knowingly buy from Amazon anyway. Honestly, it is a rare occasion where I can't find something elsewhere that is cheaper than what Amazon offers. Plus they have a distribution center in Florida now, so everything from them incurs a state sales tax penalty. Thanks, but no thanks. They pissed me off a while back, and I don't forget something like that easily.

I thought I was going to have to wait but I already got my Big Fat Check, it was around $17, not bad for doing nothing but clicking on an icon.
I am starting an indoor cactus and succulent plant collection and I bought a very nice plant with my $17. :)

Yeah, like taking candy from a baby! But I think maybe I've just become more conscious of discounts and stuff since becoming retired. Maybe it just comes with age and having spare time on my hands to spend looking for the best deal I can find. Or maybe I just inherited this from my mom and it is only now kicking in. She could find the cheapest place to buy gasoline within a hundred mile radius, hands down. Unfortunately I gravitate to name brand gasolines, so that part of the gene doesn't seem to affect me... :D

Something new has been taking place on my browser lately that seems kind of handy. If I am looking for an item on a non-Ebates site, I sometimes get a popup notice pointing me to an Ebates site that is selling it cheaper. Doesn't happen all the time, so there is likely an algorithm involved that may use variables other than price and source. But heck, if I have to choose between a site selling something where I can earn even 1 percent back and one that does not give me a better deal, all other things considered equal, then why not? The internet seems like it can make ANY purchase a buyer's market if you play it right.

So yeah, if some company wants to give me free money for doing what I was going to do anyway, who am I to argue? :hehe: BRING IT ON!

Thanks!
JCPenney, 3 prs denim jeans on sale with 13% rebate, around $40 delivered :D

I tried ebates. But I just don’t buy that much online. Instead, i use ibotta. It’s app that will give you rebates if you buy specific coupons. And i also use Walmart’s saving catcher. Walmart will scan the area for fimilar products you purchased, and give you a rebate if that product is cheaper elsewhere. I’m always up for a good frugal discussion!

I believe that Walmart has decided to stop price matching.
For those of you who purchase a lot from Walmart (I do) the Ebates rate seems to be variable. Right now it is 6%.

Not bad. Bought 3 64 gb micro sd cards for grandkids phones and kindle fire and 6% back which paid the tax plus a little extra. Also found them for $3 cheaper each.
