In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Inquiry Has anyone done business with Eric Crider?

Eric Crider

Good morning,

I have purchased some Pilbara Rock Monitors from Eric last year. I accidentally made a mistake and sent him $300 (thru PayPal thru my lizard partners PayPal account) over the agreed amount. Mistake was purely on my end as I have no idea why i changed the amount in my head. I’ve requested many times from him to refund the overage and he has said he would ASAP but never did.

All of the communication was through text on a previous phone. I do however have our last communication on 11/11/17 on my new phone. After trying many times to kindly ask for the refund I’ve somewhat given up.

I do admit the original issue was my fault but I would hope someone with integrity would do help and do the right thing.

Sincerely,
Ryan Johnson

I can’t locate the previous messages.

I haven’t reached out since November as I had been trying to get the refund for many months prior.

I guess I had given up and cut my losses as I’m the one who made the mistake but I can say I still haven’t received the over payed $300 refund.

That’s my $0.02

Ryan,

If someone allegedly owed me money I might possibly declare the unpaid money a bad debt, and for sure I'd put the name of the person who had not repaid me in the required explanations and particulars.

Bad debt

Interesting.

I learn something new every day.

I hadn’t made any BOI thread about this as I’m the cause for the mistake. Eric has been nice and polite upon each of my inquiries and always said he would send me back the overpayment but just never did which took place over and over and over.

I want to say the original transaction goes back to early summer of 2017 (We used my lizard hobby partner Jay Mark’s PayPal account and will look at when it actually took place but Jay is unavailable till next week).

Not that all that matters as I choked it up as a loss but in my opinion it goes towards someone’s integrity which is something I would like to know if I was contemplating a business transaction with them.

Thanks for the info Lucille.

Sincerely,
Ryan

A site search here for 'Eric Crider' brings up both good guy and bad guy results. However, the threads are years old, at least one over 10 years old, I did not want to link them without making sure it was the same Eric Crider as the OP is referring to.

Then, in my opinion, that does deserve a Bad Guy post. Just because you made a mistake, doesn't make it okay for him to keep your money; especially when it appears that he's acknowledged the error.

Eric Crider

I understand. I try to maintain a small footprint and dont often get involved with the BOI but I saw this and thought this would be worth noting.

In my opinion it’s about self integrity.

I will say this, the animals I received were accurately as described and what I asked for. I did in fact over pay and on that note Eric Crider (from the northwest I want to say from Washington State to reduce the risk from me identifying the wrong person) did not do as he said he would on multiple occasions.

If the $300 gets refunded great, if he sends something “Varanus” related worth $300 great, if not oh well I just won’t be a repeat customer.

Sincerely,
Ryan

Is there anything you want to purchase from him? Probably easier to use it as a credit and maybe ask for a discount on the purchase since it took him so long to help you.

Eric Crider

I’ll leave the ball in his court. Sending him more money seems like I’m enabling and I’d be sending more money to someone who hasn’t been honey or kept his word.

But, I like obscure Blue Tongue Skinks and Monitors so who knows.

All depends on what Eric says.

Thanks,
Ryan

Eric Crider

I agree with that.

My statement about it depends on what Eric says was relating to store credit, etc..

I see I misspelled a lot previously. Apologies, fat fingers on a small phone lol.

Ryan, it may be a good idea to send him an email with the link to this thread, he may be more inclined to send the refund (asap) if he knows that his delay in the promised refund may affect his reputation.

Eric Crider

See attached. I don’t have his email but text him the link. Hopefully it will spark a good resolution and show the OP he is reputable will follow through even though may be lengthy on resolution.

Sincerely,
Ryan

Eric is a standup guy! I called him and talked to him about purchasing a T- male blood python. He knew what he was talking about, answered all my questions, and the transaction was easy. He shipped when he said he would and the animal was perfect. I’d recommend him to anybody.

Eric Crider

I just received a text followed by a call from Eric. He stated he will refund immediately and is offended by my post and our business future is non existent. I admit I had let the fire die down and hindsight should’ve reached out again prior to posting the experience but it is what it is.

He wasn’t disrespectful on the phone just expressed irritation with my initiating the post without reaching back out to him again first.

I don’t feel I was disrespectful and did identify I was satisfied with the animals I received.

I actually while typing this just received confirmation he sent the payment. So all on my end is resolved.

As requested by Eric to notify the Fauna community.

He followed through with the refund. Thank you Eric.

If I’ve learned something from this is to follow up again before public discussion. I apologize for that offending you.

You have nothing to feel bad about. If he had refunded you back when he said he would, you would have never had to weigh in in the manner you did.

Someone asked for feedback. You provided it accurately. Do not feel guilty for telling the truth of your experience.

Nice to see you were refunded after new motivation was discovered. ;)
