In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I think the status of the snakes is a grey area. They were not abandoned but the OP did not want them at his house. They were unloaded by the OP for long enough so that their possession was no longer the risk to him that it obviously was at first.
I did report to FWC that the animal is no longer in my inventory.
I would think because of the length of time involved, and because during that time the OP would not have wanted to reclaim the critters because FWC was lurking, that Underground has every right to send a bill even at this late date for boarding, especially after the OP agreed to pick the critter up and did not. I would think that being venomous, such a bill for several months would exceed the sum in question.

His friend took back the other one.

Only 1 snake was sold, the OP's friend received the other, neither side is saying that there was a charge of any kind when it was picked up. I think the boarding fee solution is simple and each side gains something: Underground gets a boarding fee for months of boarding two venomous snakes, the OP gets the benefit of the boarding and does not get fined or otherwise receive unwanted action from the FWC. I think these gentlemen should call it a wash and go their separate ways.

Did you pass because those 2 snakes were not in your possession at the time of the inspection? Or did you pass inspection while in possession of the 2 snakes?

No time limits where discussed by either side, ever. This was a nice looking animal and I assumed that maybe they intended to use it themselves in the retail store. A few weeks is not an outrageous period, give the circumstances and the information I had at the time. Only one week passed between agreeing to return the cobra and selling it, with no further conversations.

A few weeks is not an outrageous period
That is your point of view, a seller caring for a venomous critter may think otherwise. And after you agreed to pick up, it would in my opinion certainly be appropriate to charge a venomous boarding fee. There are no set rules on fees, I would think a higher fee for venomous would be appropriate, and as I mentioned before, the bill may very well equal the sum in question here.

Robert. Good question. I never should have been trusting just because I was told an offer would be made. That was my mistake. They are lying about all these conversations and explanations that took place. The lesson for me is never trust a company at it's word. Especially one that claims some kind of long standing relationship. They pretend to recall in detail these alleged conversations and had to ask for a copy of the few texts we exchanged. A lesson was learned there by me. Anyone is free to draw their own conclusions and decide whether or how they want to deal with this company. Obviously I have burned that bridge and can't see ever giving them my business again.
Lucille. You have got to be kidding, right? Thanks for the laugh.

Did you tell them that you it would be a week before you had someone pick them up? Or did you say that you would pick them up and let a week or more go by before doing anything? If the latter they probably assumed you weren’t coming back and without an agreement I would think it would be up to the legal definition as to who the snake belongs to then.

What month was the inspection? Since you say it had no bearing on the deal with the snakes, but Rian says differently. I'd like to know the month the inspection was done.

Not sure of the Florida laws but I would think it's similar to California in regards to reporting stolen property, if you left them and report them stolen you'd likely open yourself up to arrest, filing a false police report, expensive lawsuit from underground reptiles, it is only my opinion but only an idiot would leave any kind of product without even a basic piece of paper work showing any kind of terms. And as far as a store is concerned, only an idiot would take any kind of merchandise without paperwork and a signature by the person leaving it. If you do report them stolen based on your own statements if I were to believe they are 100% true I hope underground reptiles who I've never done business with sues the crap out of you, rediculous. This is a civil matter and if you don't like the way it is gone simply go to court and seek Financial remedy

He finally came to our retail store first, and told the manager, that he needed to get rid of the snakes quick, due to the regulation change with fish and wildlife..
These snakes were included in my inventory and present at inspection.

Well there is certainly two different versions of reality here, but I bet some research will help. I'll take a look tomorrow, send some emails.
