But I think we can still have a lively discussion out of this.

The Uranium One Deal Was Not Clinton’s to Veto or Approve
Among the ways these accusations stray from the facts is in attributing a power of veto or approval to Secretary Clinton that she simply did not have. Clinton was one of nine cabinet members and department heads that sit on the CFIUS, and the secretary of the treasury is its chairperson. CFIUS members are collectively charged with evaluating proposed foreign acquisitions for potential national security issues, then turning their findings over to the president. By law, the committee can’t veto a transaction; only the president can.
All nine federal agencies were required to approve the Uranium One transaction before it could go forward. According to The New York Times, Clinton may not have even directly participated in the decision. Then-Assistant Secretary of State Jose Fernandez, whose job it was to represent the State Dept. on CFIUS, said Clinton “never intervened” in committee matters. Clinton herself has said she wasn’t personally involved.
The Uranium sold was owned by Canada. US only had to approve the sale since it resides here.

But from what I have heard there were rather large contributions made to the Clinton Foundation around the time of this "deal" from people associated with Uranium 1 and Russian parties, and Bill Clinton landed a pretty hefty speaking fee of $500,000 that was paid for by connections to the Kremlin.
True or false? If true, why would large sums of money being "donated" NOT be influential to the Clintons? And is the fact that these donations were not reported, as required by law, in any way significant?
Perhaps the Clintons were smart enough to not leave a smoking gun laying around, but if it smells like a skunk........ The point of the matter is that money changed hands between Russian entities and the Clinton's when Hillary was in a position to influence decisions that the Russians had keen interest in the outcome. Is this or is this not at least circumstantial evidence that Hillary Clinton might be much more likely to be involved in collusion with the Russians than Donald Trump? Does anyone really believe that money doesn't buy influence, and BIG money has BIG strings attached?
What sort of evidence, even circumstantial, ties Donald Trump with any collusion, potential or actual, with Russia?
And to clear up a definition, "collusion" is taken to mean:
secret and/or illegal cooperation or conspiracy, especially in order to cheat or deceive others.

Those answers are out there Rich but to tell you the truth I get tired of trying to show people. I have a tendency to research when I hear about issues with government and not just ones sides version of it. I don't care if it is either Clinton, either Bush, Obama or Trump.
Of the $145 million allegedly contributed to the Clinton Foundation by Uranium One investors, the lion’s share — $131.3 million — came from a single donor, Frank Giustra, the company’s Canadian founder. But Giustra sold off his entire stake in the company in 2007, three years before the Russia deal and at least 18 months before Clinton became secretary of state.
Of the remaining individuals connected with Uranium One who donated to the Clinton Foundation, only one was found to have contributed during the same time frame that the deal was taking place, according to The New York Times — Ian Telfer (also a Canadian), the company’s chairman
Now, each and every one of them have shady poop going on. With out a doubt. And each and every one of them will call the other out.
I find if your a republican you'll stand by them no matter the truth
I find if your a democrat you'll stand by them no matter the truth.
Remember when Bush did a tax break? I think it amounted to $600. Rep were saying he was such a caring individual while Dems were saying giving to people who have money, what a waste.
Remember when Obama did the same? Dems said what a caring individual while rep said, buying the poor mans vote.

Yes they are, and I have read up on a lot of it myself. So tell me, when someone "donates" very large sums of money, how long does it take for the strings attached to dissipate?
But in any event, this makes for an interesting read:
Again, if we are talking about the potential for collusion with Russia, who seems more likely to be engaging in such a thing, Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton?

Yeah, I agree, and I believe we could do no worse by having our "representatives" selected at random from an open lottery of all legal residents. Personally, I cannot recall such elevated rancor directed towards a sitting president of the USA in the past as we are seeing now towards Trump. And yes, I have looked into the accusations being made about him, both before and after the election, and I am finding a lot of factual information lacking. Quite frankly, I haven't believed a word from "mainstream media" in quite a long time, but within the past couple of years they have fallen far short of any level of pretense of presenting facts and the truth that it is astonishing. To be blunt, I firmly believe that if you were to believe the exact opposite of what CNN and the like are telling you, you would be far, FAR closer to the truth.
As for Donald Trump, I believe he could actually be a great president and actually make positive changes to turning around the downward spiral of this nation. If he is allowed to. Our country has been eaten away from the insides and those maggots are still entrenched in important areas where they will be difficult to dislodge.
But anyway, for those of you who believe that Donald Trump is a bad president, then tell me, what would a GOOD president be doing for YOU instead?
You may be subject to civil and criminal penalties for hiring undocumented immigrant workers. Civil penalties range from a minimum of $375 per unauthorized worker for a first offense up to a maximum of $1,600 per worker for a third or subsequent offense. If you are found to have engaged in a “pattern and practice” of hiring undocumented workers, then you can be fined up to $3,000 per employee and/or imprisoned for up to six months.

Should have watched the Obama years. Plenty of rancor. Everyone wants to refute what they read about there candidate sadly. Like with any other some of it's 100% true, some has bits of fact and some completely false.
I do not care for Trump personally. Not because he's a republican but because I think he's a moron. Now I thought he was a moron before he ran. Almost every time I hear him talk I shudder. He's about as bi polar a person I have ever seen or heard.
It is what it is though. We have survived every president so far and I'm sure will survive this one. My life barely changes because of it. I'm paying for food stamps or blowing up some country, installing someones wall or fixing someones water where I don't live. Taking my money for someones project that isn't mine.

Honestly, I didn't vote for either major candidate when Obama was running for election and re-election, and I just didn't pay much attention to him unless something affected me personally. Obamacare impacted me, so I had to notice some details about it. All in all I would have to see it was a benefit when I went on Medicare and Connie still needed her own health insurance, but it screwed up the REAL health marketplace something fierce, and the nonsense hoops that have to be jumped through are ridiculous. Connie has had to switch doctor's several times because of it. But was that worth me going out and riot over and demand that Obama be impeached or assassinated? No, not in the least. I don't think any politician has ever moved me in that manner.
I guess our perspectives are way different because I found that I agree with much of what Trump says and does. This country IS in damn poor shape, and likely heading towards total economic failure unless something changes. Putting a president in office that would just give us more of the same that we have been getting was not the answer. Unlike the "change" that Obama gave us, I think I was among a lot of people who believed in Trump's brand of "change" and hope there really is a positive change in the direction of this country. I don't agree with everything he says and does, of course, as I don't believe a person exists in the universe where that would be true for me. But of all the alternatives available, he was the only one I could look at is being a positive maybe of turning things around and if not make America "great" again, perhaps make it "OK" instead. America has not been OK for a long time.
As for Hillary Clinton, she carries far too much negative baggage to put her in charge of the country, in my opinion. Where there is smoke there is fire and she has one hell of a lot of smoke all around her.
But I guess all presidents are best judged in hindsight, so I do wish people would just stop going to such extremes as even calling for the assassination of the current sitting president and get on with their lives. As you mentioned, in most cases the average Joe on the street really is not going to be overly affected by most of the decisions that a president will make. At least not in an easily seen cause and effect manner.
Yes it is a problem. I also believe putting in a wall does nothing though. Most come in legally and over stay or sneak in through vehicles. I believe harsh punishment to companies that hire illegally. No jobs no reason to come. If you hire an illegal without proper paper work then you go to jail and pay a big fine. Double it second time around. After a few get fed time you'll see a decrease. There is only one reason for not hiring legal migrants other than greed.
I don't think he's against foreign workers coming here; he just wants them to come here, and remain here, LEGALLY.
I saw a film clip that said, at the time that building was constructed, sprinklers were not required to comply with current building codes. Yes, he should have installed them anyway, but was not required to do so.
He does/will donate his entire annual salary of $400k. Giving away $1.6 million over his 4-year tenure, is hardly focusing on lining his own pockets.
I don't love the guy, and cringe when listening to the flat tone of his speaking voice, but I do agree with some of his ideas.
First of all, it's hard to know WHAT he believes because he totally contradicts himself all the time, and LIES all the time. And he has knowingly exploited some here illegally (building his buildings, also housekeeping) because he is so CHEAP, and when they were done, he didn't pay them all he owed...that is a true RAT! I do believe he's as racist as some of his supporters...I take that from his OWN words...there's no excuse for how he treats people.
I actually agree that we must have secure borders, not unrestricted immigration, as some do come here to harm us. People must come here legally, that I agree. But a border wall isn't the way...that's just a stupid waste of money as it's not effective. What it DOES do is waste our money, siphoning off more & more to bankrupt us, weaken us...he is doing Putin's bidding & doesn't give a hoot about our nation. You didn't see him serving his country, not during the draft for war, & not at ANY time in his life has he EVER taken an interest in anything but himself & his own pleasure.
As far as the trump tower fire, that is correct: it was built before sprinklers were required. trump fought hard against the later requirements to retrofit. His lack of caring for the safety factor (for such a supposedly RICH guy!?!?) proves that all he cares about is himself & his money. He is nothing more than a con man, not any kind of "business-man" that deserves respect. I wish he were.
There is a BIG difference between what trump CLAIMS to donate and what he actually DOES donate. Why do you think he hides his taxes??? People would find out the truth, for a change. It HAS been proven repeatedly that money he claimed to donate for various causes were actually someone else's money for which he took credit. So I really doubt his 'salary' claim too, but even if he did, he is raking in FAR MORE money with all the "emoluments" that no other president has been so low as to challenge the standards on. And every time I hear the trumpy-bear commercial, I frankly want to hurl. He is a national disgrace in every way possible, he's not "making America great". (for me, MAGA stands for "Make the A**-**** Go Away!") He has NO respect for the rule of law...criminals generally don't, you know.
I did not care for Hillary Clinton or Trump myself. My thought was, This is all we have? It is too bad that both sides could not get together and do something positive with healthcare. The 8 years that Bush was in health care went up 97% then addhow much more it was during Obama years.
Last month I stopped at CVS pharmacy drive through to pick up my wife's meds. One of them took longer so they handed me one order. I was looking at receipt. She has esophagus problem and one of her meds is basically industrial strength Maalox. She had 3 bottles and each bottle was just under $300.00 each! That is without insurance. With insurance it cost me $10.00 Her one heart medicine cost $ 415.00 for 3 month supply without insurance and $10.00 with. Totally nuts.

I guess there is a lot I don't understand about the incentives for illegal immigration. The simplistic answer I've heard is that it is because there were no jobs in Mexico and Mexicans (and others from countries south of Mexico) were coming here to find work. But is that really the case? A lot of industrial jobs that used to be in the USA have been exported to other countries, especially Mexico. So if that is the case, why haven't the numbers of illegal immigrants been greatly reduced since obviously the work has moved to THEM? The evidence, it appears, does not point to seeking jobs as being the prime motivator for illegal immigration.
Truth of the matter is, I don't really care about illegal immigration of those immigrants come here, work hard, obey the law, and make themselves productive members of this society. What I do resent, however, is someone who comes to this country illegally, takes advantage of whatever free government services they can get, refuses to learn English or otherwise melt into the melting pot of Americans, and pretty much demands their own island within this country to keep their homeland customs, language, etc. and to hell with what Americans have built of this country that made it attractive to them in the first place. Tell me, is that in any way fair?
Heck, one of the last times I went to Miami, Florida, I went into pet shops where no one there spoke English, and everything written there was not in English. A long while back I looked into getting a job near Miami, but it was a REQUIREMENT or employment that the employees MUST be bi-lingual. And there is just something fundamentally wrong with nearly every phone call I make for customer service and the like to tell me "Press one for English, two for Spanish..." Just how many people are in this country that are LEGAL immigrants that cannot speak English?
As for the wall, well heck, I was taking that as being mostly symbolic. Certainly a physical presence, but the wall itself being an icon of a barrier to those people who do not wish to go through the legal process of immigrating to the USA. Certainly many illegal immigrants already have tunnels they are using, and certainly more will be built. But where do you start if you don't start with something tanglble and an actual physical presence? Heck, send the bill to Mexico with economic sanctions if they do not pay up. Put a fee on every illegal immigrant found, detained, and then exported. If the bill gets high enough, Mexico will be putting up their own wall at the USA border.
But anyway, I believe that most, if not all, countries have their own sort of laws concerning immigration, both legal and illegal. I can't see where the USA should be considered the odd man out just because it begins strongly enforcing those laws. Of course, the question has to be, why is the USA so much more attractive to so many people than their own homeland?

There's a good reason for that "elevated rancor": we've never had such a disrespectful NASTY-mouthed moron elected, one who denigrates gold-star families, women, members of the judiciary & FBI, etc...anyone with whom he disagrees. His behavior is that of a child-bully...he makes our country look stupid for putting him in power...he lies constantly & gives not one shred of dignity to the office, so he deserves no respect in return & he'll never get any from me. Never.
Facts you say? That's what respectable journalists are for. We all have to read multiple sources & weigh the evidence, as if on jury-duty, & apply some common sense. Why do trump supporters insist on believing all the OBVIOUS proven-falsehoods, just because he bellows "fake news" when the truth is given? Autocrats the world over want to control the media, tell you what to believe (in them & only them)...doesn't that get your attention when trump speaks of jailing journalists who don't support his b.s.? Did you sleep thru history classes? The "facts" will come out when Mueller is done...I just hope it's in time for our country to recover, in terms of environmental regulations & the protection of endangered species, in terms of the institutions our nation relies on as a safety net, in terms of protecting the rule of law, in terms of the erosion of inter-racial tensions, and in terms of our nation's place as a world leader...because right now, with trumpy-bear in charge, we're sinking fast. Our nation (like many others) is very diverse...and you know what they say about "divide & conquer"? That's one way trump is HARMING this country...playing groups against each other, when what we need is to work together, as one nation.
I will never understand why anyone would believe in & vote for a rich guy backed up by other super-rich who has never once in his life lifted a finger for anyone but himself. Was it the slogan, MAGA? Sure, anyone can spout a slogan...big deal! Actions still speak louder than words, & the first thing they did was give themselves a fat tax break, oh-boy! More money & power for those who don't need it! It was so easy to lie to auto workers & coal-miners...pretend to be "on their side". What a load of horse-hocky!!!
I agree with a lot you say there Rich. As far as jobs exported to Mexico the locals have those jobs wrapped up.
My father in law and I went to Ford plant to run new paint lines. They were building a huge addition onto the plant. Cannot remember square footage but it was huge. They had brand new tow motors, tractors and back hoes. They were not allowed to use because of gas prices. It was cheaper to have 10-15 move heavy stuff by hand and did footers with shovels. I couldn't believe it. They make way less than American min wage.
I can tell you that when I had my basement water proofed I had 1 white guy with facial piercings and 1 black guy with gang tattoos and 2 Mexican workers. The white guy never showered the whole week I believe and the black guy spent most of his time sitting on a bucket texting people. The 2 Mexican guys busted there butts and called me Mr Coulter when they addressed me. I had my roof done and almost same situation except the white supervisor was pretty good.
Too many left or right idea's. A sensible plan needs to be done and thats not having a group on one side spending a weekend dreaming something up. One side or the other is going to be upset no matter what I know that. Good to hear your views also Rich.
Heck, I have long believed that any make believe need for a political party system has long passed. Our representatives should be answerable ONLY to their constituents , who put them into office, and not have to toe any such party line simply because the party bigwigs want to control access to the cookie jar. The USA is pretty much only a two party system, as none of the additional parties seem to be able to get any traction in election results. Seems many people will vote one way or another specifically to try to keep their party in power, or the other party out of power. We don't need that sort of division controlling the destiny of this country. INDIVIDUALS need to be voted into office and those INDIVIDUALS held accountable for what they vote for or against in deliberations. Then either retained in office, or voted out so some other INDIVIDUAL can try their hand at making their constituents happy with their voting decision.
But unfortunately the people who are in power intend to stay in power by controlling the rules by which that could be changed. Heck, I worked for the Florida legislature for several years, and I was astonished the first time I saw a session come to order and the first thing they did was to vote on suspending all rules. Which was a voice vote, of course. Which ALWAYS passed, by the way. How can a group of people be controlled when they are the controllers?
But bringing this back to Trump, the biggest attraction to me was that he IS an outsider. He is not a professional politician. Of course, that can be both good and bad, but to get the rotten apples out of the system, the apple cart just might need to be turned over to dump them out by someone who doesn't have a career stake in the game. No politician interested in maintaining their career in politics would ever dream of doing such a thing. Of course, they will TALK about it in their campaign speeches, but when their butt sits down in the big chair, then they forget all about those campaign promises.
So in my opinion, this country needs a change, a BIG change, and as best I can tell, Trump is the only one to have the potential to do that. Am I believing lies and just my wishes that it could be so? Could be. But who wasn't lying campaigning for the office? I just found Trump to be more believable and more attuned to what I wanted a president to BE than the others and voted accordingly. Had anyone else that the Republicans had in the lineup gotten to the voting ballot, I likely would have just declined to vote in 2016. Even though I don't like Hillary Clinton at all, I just don't want to vote only against someone and to ignore the fact that the other candidate might be just a half a hair less odious. It was either vote FOR someone, or not at all.
Fact of the matter is that Donald Trump is now the legitimate president of the USA right now. At least give him the chance to prove himself the person that around half of the voters trusted to put into office. Or prove to be just another scaliwag like most of the rest who have bamboozled their way into office. In 2020 we will have a chance to vote for him again, or whatever the Democrats can dredge up to run against him. If the Democrats can come up with someone who I would want to be president of the USA, I have no qualms voting that way. It used to say "Democrat" on my voter registration card. Now it says "Republican". But I vote for a PERSON, not a party member. There is a reason that someone not in either party is called "independent". I believe the full meaning of that word is the truth in that Democrats and Republicans are fully DEPENDENT on their associated party.
Earlier you asked for facts, proof of all the allegations about trump, & I have a strong sense that nothing will ever satisfy you, so I'll waste no more of my time. To quote Felix Cohen:
"Generally the theories we believe we call facts, and the facts we disbelieve we call theories."
I can think of NO one who is less presidential, less deserving of any respect, than donald trump...for the despicable behavior he displays, for the trash that comes out of his mouth, for his thuggish behavior (using "goons" to threaten his opponents to get his way) & basically lying and cheating his way through life...even when the only purpose is to feed his inflated ego. His disrespect for this nation's laws are putting our country at risk, & that is not something I take lightly or ever will. Cheers.

I am sorry, but I guess I should have specified UNBIASED facts from reliable and truthful sources. The link you sent me via private message was nothing more that and anti-Trump echo chamber quoting obviously anti-Trump fake news sources. Sorry, but I learned long before Trump became their target that the mainstream media is not to be trusted, much less believed. Pretty much I learned that when it comes to people running for public office, the people they are obviously against are people I need to be voting for. It has gone WAY beyond their actions being overlooked with the excuse that they are only trying to sell an information product and call it "news".
I don't know how you came about your own opinions, but perhaps you have just been reading material that is anti-Trump and that has influenced your own thinking. Have you checked into claims made by sources such as CNN and The Washington Post (among others)? Back when Trump was campaigning for the presidency, I did check into the claims that were being thrown around about Trump, and honestly I found them, well if not outright "truth challenged", they were severely distorting the facts to where the truth was indeterminate.
As an example of what I am talking about, the fake news media literally burst into flames about Donald Trump making fun of a disabled reporter. So I watched some YouTube videos of that incident, and watched even more of them. You know what? BS, pure and simple. Heck, I use the same sort of mannerisms myself sometimes when I talk to people and it does not in any way point to my making fun of anyone in particular. Trump does the same thing.
Time after time I researched the claims made by the fake news "mainstream" media, and came to the same conclusions. Yeah, some things were off color, and certainly not becoming of someone intending to become the president of the USA, but Trump's problem is that he has pretty much ALWAYS been famous and pretty much had everything he has said captured somewhere. So people just went digging for such things, no matter how long ago they took place and no matter how out of context things might have been taken just in order to make Trump look bad. Heck, I certainly would hate to have everything I have ever said in public recorded somewhere. And I would guess so would a lot of other people.
Now that being said, I also looked into claims against Hillary Clinton, and I admit that some of that was BS as well. Particularly some of the out of context video snippets claiming to be evidence of her medically deteriorating condition. Yeah, there were some that seemed legitimate, but many obviously were not when the COMPLETE video was found and viewed.
But concerning Hillary, I found it downright humorous that the "hacked" emails that were so damaging to her got the bum's rush by trying to turn the attention towards them being hacked from a server by Russian hackers, and the actual CONTENT of such emails being completely ignored by the mainstream media. They weren't denying anything in the emails, just trying to force attention away from such content by saying the SOURCE of them was the real issue. And I guess for the less astute members of the population, that worked.
So, in short, you are certainly welcome to your own opinions, and I would guess I should certainly be every bit as welcome to mine, don't you think? But with that being said, if ANYONE agrees that it is OK for celebrities, or anyone else for that matter, to state openly in public, inferences and outright threats that a sitting president of the USA be assassinated, I am afraid that my opinion of THEM is that something is very VERY mentally wrong with them. And for groups such as ANTIFA to act in the manner that they are causing property damage and personal injuries to other parties because someone they don't like got elected to the office of the president is just absolutely ridiculous. Heck, I'm all for freedom of speech and freedom to assemble and what not, but when it gets to the point where property if being damaged and people are being attacked and injured, well that is taking those freedoms far beyond reasonable expectations of suitability for the situation.
