    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

Well I figured I wouldn't stop with the rainbows and brought all my boas out, except my motley sunglow who I snapped a few pictures of the other day just after he last shed.

First we'll start with my favorite to handle. This is Anna, my '16 hypo. She should be just about 5' right now and she shed last night. As usual, her pinks don't like to show up on camera, but she's every bit as orange in person. She's always a joy to work with. Just don't make her think it's feeding time if it's not... lol

Up next is my '17 motley sunglow, Helios. Like I mentioned above, I took these pictures just after he shed a few days ago. His growth is starting to speed up now that he's on weaned rats and he's shed twice in the last month. Both times the pink mottling on his sides has gotten darker. I'm really hoping that trend continues like it tends to with most motley sunglows. Of course the pictures don't do his colors justice, but they almost never do. He's destined to be the mate for Anna and hopefully a blood or pewter down the road if my hets prove out.

Here we have questionable het #1, Elvira. She was labeled as het for plasma, but I see no hypo in her. I'm hoping that her brother, who I'll post next, and her are het for pewter. That way I should end up with a mix of bloods, type 2 aneries, possible hets for both, and maybe even a pewter or two. Her temperament still isn't perfect, but compared to when I got her last year she's a puppy dog now. Then again I've been told she was kept in tub that was too small for her, she was infested with mites when I got her, and she still has a nasty scar and nose bump from rubbing (which she hasn't done for me). I'm pretty sure she knows she's in a better place and is much more trusting now. Even if she doesn't prove out though, I would like to see what her colors would look like in an albino. There is a lot of red that looks like it is under all the black, to me at least.

And here we have Elvira's brother/future mate, Alice. He's more nervous and flighty than his sister sometimes but just like Elvira he's 100% better than when I got them. He had all the same issues as her except his scar is not as big.

Thanks, Richard. I do my best to keep them all healthy and "happy." I'm pretty happy with how everybody is turning out as they mature, myself.

So I've been tracking the growth rates pretty closely on elvira in an effort to figure out when she'll be ready to breed. I dont think she'll turn out to be a very big girl with the various central American blood she's supposed to be carrying, but as seller was obviously full of it about a couple things I figured growth tracking would be my best bet outside of waiting an extra year or two. It turns out that after her last growth spurt this past summer, she's only gained a little less than 2" in about 6 months. Since she's still been on a moderate growth diet, she has put on weight but no real length recently. Seeing as that's the case (and Anna, my '16 hypo, has gained quite a bit of length in the same timeframe, as a comparison) I made the executive decision to introduce Alice into her cage last week. About 48 hours in, I took this picture. Fingers crossed it takes and everything goes well! I'm keeping them together while I watch for ovulation.

While I didn't actually see hemipenes, they were pretty obviously locked for at least an hour. So it was promising indeed!

Good looking animals in the earlier posts, don't know how I missed them... Regarding your pairing, good luck, hope you have success.

Reintroduced the male into the female's cage after a small meal and couple day break. I was actually going to wait another day, but the male was tearing up his cage today. Pretty sure ky guess as to why was accurate because he immediately started courting her again and was locked within 10 minutes. They've been at it for almost 2 hours now. A little while ago I saw him tensing up every 10-20 seconds, so I'm guessing those were ejaculatory spasms.

She's showing some swelling on her lower 3rd in the last day or so (hard to tell from the pictures, but you can kinda see it), so it seems ovulation is probably occurring. Fingers crossed!!!

That's not ejaculatory spasms if I'm not mistaken but are the result of him "spurring" the female with his vestigal legs.

Not saying you're wrong, but I witnessed spurring last week without any spasms. In fact, I got to witness him moving his spurs independently in a circular motion. It was pretty cool to see since I've only heard of them doing that before then.

What I witnessed today were whole-body muscle contractions while they were actually locked (or at least I think they were considering their alignment was right and he was definitely everted). That's why I was thinking they had to do with ejaculation instead of spurring.

I've got a video I'll try to upload sometime soon to show what I mean.

Snakes don't ejaculate. Sperm has to a actually swim from one snake to another.

Technically they do have to ejaculate. Otherwise the sperm wouldn't be mixed with the other fluids that make up seminal fluid itself. That's nothing specific to snakes but really for most, if not all, vertebrates. My understanding has always been that it's effectively in slow motion with snakes as compared to mammals, but it's still a part of their mating.

I'll post the clip as soon as I have a chance to show what I saw (or at least what you can see of it im ther clip), but it certainly appeared to be an ejaculatory spasm as they appeared to be locked already and he was not visibly spurring.
