Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy The Urban Gecko is threating to sue me

I do not think he owes anyone an explanation. It is certainly none of my business. It does appear funny, though, and that leads to easy paths for speculative directions. Chances are that one of those could strike true. ;)

True enough, he doesn't owe us an explanation. I can say with out one the chances of dealing with him are slim.

However, he did bring up the shady business practices of Urban Gecko.

Indeed.

I, too, think there are only a few probable scenarios and most of those would not be, in my eyes, set in a favorable light.

Thanks to the nature of the BOI, the matter has durability, so I am glad I could read about this as well as the situation regarding the party that was said to not have been compensated for his serpents.
 
Their MO seems to be dealing with problems by offering credit towards something else. Hopefully he didn't go for that.....didn't seem to work out terribly well before.

I'm glad it's resolved but not sure why the secrecy....if the Urban Gecko made their unhappy buyer whole, you'd think that would be something to share happily?

The secrecy about it is what bothers me.
 
I needed to take a break otherwise I might say something dumb that I'd regret. After I invited Craig to come comment on here he basically said he would not explain his position on a public forum. He also said that I don't understand the magnitude of what's happening here. He said that I had one day to call him before his lawyer contacts him going ahead with the lawsuit. I called him and he just fed me a lot of I'm doing damage to his company that's been around for 20 years and that he's made huge improvements to the reptile keeping hobby. He didn't bribe me. That being said if he feels so threatened by some kids videos that he's serious about suing that's his problem. At the end of the day I don't have the time nor funds to deal with this how I'd like too. You also have to decide if it's a battle that's really worth fighting over a couple hundred dollars. I wish I could do something but what's a guy supposed to do? Maybe if I wasn't still in high school I'd try something. Thanks everyone - Sam
 
I feel like I'm being bullied into silence so they can keep doing what they're doing. I hate that I had to fold and take down the videos but that's really my only choice. I am not a happy camper.

You are being bullied into silence. That's their tactic to get you to take down bad reviews/videos without them having to pay a cent or lift a finger other than typing some threats. If your experience with them was depicted accurately, it isn't slander. They don't have a case against you. They just want to remove negativity surrounding their company. And the censorship really speaks volumes about what kind of company they are.

The Urban Gecko does not want to sue you, and if their attorney had a lick of sense he or she would advise just shutting up, putting their time, energy, and resources into improving their business processes, and NOT suing you. You are a minor with no assets; in court they would be seen as the bad corporation attacking a child. Even if they won they wouldn't collect a dime, and it's a big stretch to assume that they could win given that the content in your videos was the truth.

Then there are the other issues with their business that have been dragged out for public viewing as a result of this thread, such as problems tracking which animals have sold and which have not, shipping incorrect animals, ripping off Pete Kahl a few years back, etc. they really want this whole fiasco to die a quick death. The fastest way to get that done was to bully you into removing the videos.

I want to but I REALLY don't want a lawsuit. I think more people should know that they're threating to sue me but I didn't want to cause more drama than needed. I mean if they think what I was saying was false why didn't the make a public statement trying to show the truth? Jumping right to a lawsuit makes them seem guilty
 
He has harmed the reputation of his own company by his past and now current actions. All you are doing is sharing truths. I wouldn't have removed anything or listened, but I can understand and respect why you did it. Threatening a minor with a lawsuit is disgusting.

Read what Melinda wrote. Do a few minutes research into defamation, and see that if what you are saying is true, it is not defamatory.
 
I think what I'm going to do is leave all the videos down, but just make a very calm video explaining why they were supposedly going to sue me. I think that will be enough evidence for everyone about who they are.
 
I would LOVE to see TUG try and sue for defamation, nothing you have written or posted to youtube is considered defamatory in my opinion. You have calmly explained your opinion regarding the gecko and why you believe it is not the same as the one you ordered. FAR too often, Lawsuits are threatened when the person they are threatening the lawsuit has themselves conducted themselves improperly. just look at the ty park thread...…….

Sadly, I believe that this misrepresentation and fraud is VERY COMMON in the gecko industry.
