So, Like a dummy I checked my work email after I got home today since I had been busy remodeling in the shooting range. I get email from fire inspector. We just had our 33rd yearly test at my building first week of March.
Issue 1. After last years inspection they decided we needed a forward flow connection added. Several thousand dollars but had it done. Now it needs a sign attached saying Forward Flow attached to ceiling. Ok no biggie.
Issue 2. Need a sign on FDC post outside that has name of building and address. Now I can throw a rock and hit fire dept from side door of my building. I am told in case a mutual request is called from another city. Never had such sign in the other 32 inspections but ok, no biggie.
Issue 3. The required external water flow alarm is missing or was never installed. Now they want to run electric to exterior corner near FDC , put horn strobe on, and a sign that says, If alarm is sounding call 911. I work at a friggen police dept....... Now this one will probably cost 3 to 4 grand.
This guy started 5 years ago and every year something new. And none of these fixes are cheap. 4 years ago they made me get a certification on pressure on sprinkler system. It cost $12.000 and it is only of use to a building contractor if we were to expand the building.
Good news is, This was my last yearly test! I retire late July!
