    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

For clarity: I currently keep Naja kaouthia, Bitis rhinoceros, Crotauls atrox, and Agkistrodon contortrix.
I follow Joe pittmans bite protocols and have just under a year of hands-on experience with feeding, hooking, and routine management.

I’m selective, patient, and not looking to rush anything.

Haters are gonna hate. Keep doing you. You aren't bit yet. The same folks just tore down my 6 nevers of venemous keeping for new keepers. With a celebrity saying it's stupid to open enclosure doors with a hook. You will never please everyone. My way is not your way but good luck. The gatekeepers are at it again!

Its not gate keeping, its keeping ignorant, dangerous, morons out of the hobby so there isnt anymore damage done to people and our hobby, kids like him are why hots get banned, fuck out of here if you think him and any of his ilk are OK to have in this hobby.

I’m going to speak up here. As much as I agree with you, JMCannon, I also have to admit that the critics aren’t entirely wrong — hear me out.

If I’d been left completely alone, I never would’ve learned about Joe Pittman’s bite protocols, and honestly, mine were bad. That correction mattered. This hobby does need to be policed, because the amount of carelessness out there is real, and with venomous there are no second chances. One mistake doesn’t just affect the keeper — it affects the entire community.

As much as people throw around the word “gatekeeping,” many of those enforcing standards genuinely care about these animals and about keeping the hobby alive. For some, this is also their livelihood, and that perspective matters whether we like it or not.

Where I disagree is how it’s handled. Personal attacks and pile-ons don’t educate — they just create noise. That said, I’m not asking anyone to stop holding people accountable. If calling out unsafe behavior prevents even one idiot from getting bit and pushing bans on the rest of us, then it serves a purpose.

I’m not giving up my venomous animals because someone else couldn’t handle the responsibility. These are incredible creatures, but they demand respect at all times. That’s the standard — and that’s what actually protects the hobby.

Grabbing a Naja barehanded isn’t something I recommend or promote. Context matters, experience matters, and risk management matters. Calling it “idiocy” without understanding the full situation is just noise, not critique. :)
