Imagine being the worlds biggest asshat...go troll someone else.Imagine keeping a tropical snake....on aspen.
Imagine being the one to say its being an asshat to call out abysmal husbandry, quite the hill to die onImagine being the worlds biggest asshat...go troll someone else.
I'm perfectly comfortable dying on the hill of helping other keepers instead of publicly tearing them down.Imagine being the one to say its being an asshat to call out abysmal husbandry, quite the hill to die on
If youre selling animals, especially niche species like Phyronax, and you dont know proper husbandry, you arent a newbie who needs help, youre a moron whos trying to make a quick buck whos stuck in the same fad as 99% of US keepers who treat the animals like merchandise and nothing more and sometimes far less, if you cant keep the species right, you have no business selling it, and if calling out people selling species they have no right selling becasue they cant even keep the animal properly is bad, then thank fuck I abhore the US Reptile Hobby because people like you, and this seller, are why it is still stuck in the stone age and eons behind nearly if not all other countries reptile hobbies. Being nice might have worked 20-30 years ago before the US hobby treated this animals like items to be sold and not living creatures who deserve far better than what 99.9% of this countries "hobbiests" give them. I dont have to be nice and helpful toward people and a hobby that is so far gone niceness sees nothing but laughs in return. The only way this country and hobby has a chance at maybe not being completely destroyed by legislature and city ordinances is by calling people out and enforcing a better standard of practice and care, cause otherwise, we might as well lay down and take it from big daddy government cause thats whats gonna happen sooner than later anyways.I'm perfectly comfortable dying on the hill of helping other keepers instead of publicly tearing them down.
If someone is using a husbandry practice you disagree with, why not send them a message and actually help? Something as simple as, "Hey bud, I noticed you're using aspen. Have you had better luck with coco, cypress, or another substrate that's more appropriate for a tropical species?" goes a lot further than trying to score points in a comment section.
Most keepers, especially newer ones, are here to learn. Helpful coaching and sharing experience improves husbandry. Public ridicule usually just makes people defensive and less likely to listen.
These groups are supposed to be resources for reptile keepers, not arenas for internet gladiators looking for their next call-out post.
I don't know you personally, but every interaction I've seen from you seems to involve complaining, criticizing, or publicly calling someone out. Maybe try being helpful for a change. The hobby could use more mentors and fewer self-appointed prosecutors.
Like I said, nothing constructive = asshat... Thanks for making my point. So being apart of AHH and working with numerous other keepers on improving the atrocious welfare of reptiles in the US pet trade and hobby is now to feel good and be nasty? lmao you probably keep tropical species in racks too or in vision cages with aspen and no humidity. Talking about someone you know nothing about like you are is hilarious. But thanks for making all my points.I find that when people routinely criticize other herp keepers husbandry publicly online, the motivation for doing so is rarely out of concern for the animals, as they usually claim.
Instead, they criticize in part because they erroneously believe it makes them appear more knowledgeable, and in part because it feels good to be nasty.
If there were sincere concern over the welfare of the animals, it would be far more effective to express it privately, and in a more civil manner, as was suggested by @jeremy801 .
That's not at all what I said. How could it be? You made no previous mention of "being apart of AHH and working with numerous other keepers on improving the atrocious welfare of reptiles"- which may or may not be an exaggeration anyway. So being apart of AHH and working with numerous other keepers on improving the atrocious welfare of reptiles in the US pet trade and hobby is now to feel good and be nasty?
The hypocrisy in this statement is what is hilarious. Perhaps you have no idea what I'm referring to.lmao you probably keep tropical species in racks too or in vision cages with aspen and no humidity. Talking about someone you know nothing about like you are is hilarious.
Likewise. But thanks for making all my points.
Lol…you’re such an asshat. That’s your new name, “asshat”. No concept of your own inadequacy, claiming to be part of an organization that educates and promotes reptile husbandry when all you do is degrade people. Is that what AHH stands for? I’m sure they’re happy to have you represent them. You’re such an asshat. So being apart of AHH and working with numerous other keepers on improving the atrocious welfare of reptiles in the US pet trade and hobby is now to feel good and be nasty? lmao you probably keep tropical species in racks too or in vision cages with aspen and no humidity.
