    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hi all could do with some help if you dont mind.when the babies are hatched is it the same principle as with geckos keep them seperate on none particulate substrate feed after first poo .i only have experience with geckos and a young friend of mine has just hatched 5 ackies any help would be appreciated
 
I keep my hatchlings on a mixture of topsoil, sand, and peat moss - about 3" deep for hatchlings. Keep the substrate moist, but not wet. Offer them a shallow water dish - a spaghetti jar lid works great now, and you can upgrade to a peanut butter jar lid when they get a little bigger. Spray the ackies daily for the first couple of weeks to keep them from dehydrating. After that, you can cut back to every few days. Basking temp should be a minimum of 120*F, with the cool side around 85*F. Don't let the little buggers drop below 80*F at night while they are young. UVB is not neccesary if you are dusting all foods in calcium with D3...however, they seem to like the UVB lighting. I offer food as soon as the umbilical stump is fully absorbed. Small crickets or lobster roaches work great...but crickets will chew on your babies if left in the cage overnight. It's better to go with lobster roaches if you don't want the hassle of digging crickets out of substrate. Let me know if you have any other questions, I'm glad to help!

Oh, forgot to say...it is okay to keep them in groups of three or four. They are less prone to nipping...although it DOES still happen sometimes. I guess if space is not an issue, you could seperate them all just to be on the safe side.
