In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

New Show in Central PA!

Some details and information

Hello all! After posting the basic details of our show, I figured I should give a bit more information so that people know a bit more about what we are doing and why. I see lots of views to the post, and figured you may want some more information. Our website is constantly being updated, and not all of the information is there yet, so I wanted to give a quick synopsis of what our plans will be for this show.

We have attended other shows in the past, and have been highly disappointed, like many others have been. Matt and I really wanted to bring the joy back into shows, for both vendors and customers, so decided to start this show. We will compete with Hamburg for location ONLY (only about an hour south), but nothing else will compare if we can help it!

Vendors -
Unlike Hamburg, we will NOT be packing as many vendors in as we can in the smallest spaces possible, as we think that is a horrible experience for everyone involved. We will be offering our vendors full 8'x6' spaces, not the small areas you usually have at a show. Each vendor will have free wireless internet access (if you bring your own computer), and plenty of space to actually SIT in the chairs we provide! And of course you will have electricity to plug in and heat up those babies if you so choose. We will still be offering TONS of spaces for rent, so there will be plenty of opportunities to have a great variety without being too cramped.

Customers -
We have a baby in a stroller, and one of our issues with Hamburg was that we could not even use the stroller at the show, and we want to make this as family friendly as possible. Our aisles will be huge (12 feet), with plenty of space to get to tables to actually TALK to the vendors without slamming into the guy next to you trying to walk by. We will also be enforcing the rules to the vendors about conduct, and you will be able to walk by a vendor without worrying about the professionalism of the people selling with your children standing next to you (and I think we all know what that means). We also will have plenty of variety, as even though we will be offering lots of space, we will have plenty of room for tons of vendors (which will be updated as each one books on the website).

The Hotel Carlisle will be giving the show some great class - have YOU ever been to a reptile show that has chandeliers in a fully carpeted room? How about a full scale steakhouse restaurant right on the property? No, we haven't either. This is why we chose this venue - the hotel has been WONDERFUL working with us on all angles, and we feel that we will be able to have a great, fun show that can bring back some of the fun to the hobby. If you book a room with them, they are even allowing contained reptiles to stay with you! They will also be offering room discounts to both vendors and customers, you just have to mention you are with the reptile show. We need to have 10 rooms booked for that discount, so get in touch if you are planning on staying and we can help you with the discount!

If anyone has any questions, please get in touch. We are also looking for show sponsors, door prize donations and raffle donations. If anyone is interested in giving a seminar, we would love to talk to you! And any other ideas to make this the best smaller show on the east coast (maybe the country?) would be greatly appreciated. We are still in the works for booking vendors, and we would love to hear from anyone who has ideas!

Thanks!

Update on show progress

I just wanted to give everyone an update on the show coming up in October.

We are getting phone calls from vendors left and right, but are NOT posting them on the page until we receive money to secure their spots. But the vendors are coming, so do not despair! We have a total of about 96 single spaces available, so make sure to get in quick to have your pick of spots!

More information has been posted on the website, so please check back often!

The Central PA Reptile Expo is just over a month away! We have some incredible things planned, and we are really excited! We picked up some more great vendors at Hamburg, and have some other cool things in store!

The Metro Herp Society from NY will be having 2 half-hour seminars on basic reptile care and handling, one at 11:30am and one at 2:30pm, so be sure to bring the kids for a great hands-on experience!

DioDesign will be doing caricatures on the spot of your pets! Bring a picture of one from home (since no pets are allowed in the show), or have her do one of your new purchase! The designs are available on tshirts as well as a pre-order. Amy will also be displaying other artwork that she can do, including some cool family tree ideas (YES you can include your pets!). So make sure to bring along that picture, or, even better, buy a new pet to have a picture drawn up!

Bring the family, your friends and anyone else you know to this new style of show in PA! You can feel free to contact us anytime at 717-502-0506 or by email at [email protected] if you have any questions. Hope to see you all there!

Can't wait

Kelly,
I for one can't wait for the show and to see all the other vendors there. I think you are doing a stupendous job and giving the vendors more then their money's worth. Your customer service is impeccable and in todays world, that means everything to me. If there are any vendors out there who are on the fence thinking about it....do it. I don't think you will find another show host as accomodating as Kelly.
Thanks Kelly, you rock,
Dale

Kelly, thanks SO much for the good wishes. I am going crazy right now trying to make sure everything is perfect, but I think things will go well. Just last minute jitters getting to me! 4 days to go, and I'm READY!

Kelly Kordek

I was able to go to the show today. It was a very nice show :) Kelly did a really nice job putting it together

I want to thank EVERYONE for a great show!! We all had tons of fun, and have already re-booked many of our vendors for the January show! I missed meeting some of you that said you were coming, but we would love to get any feedback you might have, so let us know what you thought!

Keep an eye out for updates on the January show coming up really soon, and pictures of the October show will be going up on the new webpage this week!

John, wish we could have had a chance to meet, but maybe in January!!

Kelly Kordek

Kelly, Glad that it went well. Congratulations, you made it through without pulling all your hair out. How was attendance and vendor turnout?

Well, attendance could have been better, we had about 300 people through the door, but everyone has said that it wasn't bad for a first ever show. I even have a picture of our first ever customers, they were really awesome about letting us get them on film. Everyone really seemed to enjoy themselves, and lots said they will be back in January at the new venue.

Vendors were GREAT! In total, we had 29 on the floor, taking all but 4 tables of a 68 table show. We had one vendor who was really sick and couldn't make it, but is hoping to get back with us for the next show. Tons of the vendors have already booked for the next show, and I have a feeling that lots more will be booking up this week. Plus hopefully the ones that couldn't make it because of other commitments this time around will be able to come on board in 09.

I am already working full speed ahead on 09, and after the success of the show on Saturday, I think we have a good thing going!

Pictures! Pictures! Pictures! :D

Soon, I PROMISE!! Matt got a lot of good setup shots, and I am hoping to get some pics from some of the vendors that came too, as we were SO super busy I don't think we got too many shots of the day as it went on.

Here's a pic of our first ever customers, Wes and Brandon, with one of the sulcatta's that was up for adoption at the NY Metro Herp Society (this sulcatta, I believe, went to the Lancaster Herp Society/Forgotten Friends Reptile Sanctuary group later in the day).

More will come later, I swear!

Congratulations, Kelly & Matt!

I'm glad to hear things went so well. I'd say that was a good turnout for a first show, plus Tinley going on at the same time.

Good work!

Ya'll hang in there!
Mike
