    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hello,
I am starting an educational program for children to teach them about snakes. I love animals and want to share my passion with others, especially for those animals who are often misunderstood and feared. As a way to support this program I would like to breed piebald ball pythons. I would like to obtain any of the following combinations:

Adult snakes:
1 male pied
2 100% het female pieds
OR
1 female pied
1 100% het female pied
1 100% het male pied
OR
2 pieds, 1.1

Unfortunately my funds are extremely limited. I can only pay so much, but I am very willing to trade Photography, Photoshop, Web Design, and Writing Services, etc. If payment plans are an option that would be great as well. Any offer is welcome.

Ok, just a few things...

Why are pieds essential for you to support your "educational program"? Why not regular ball pythons?

From your ad, it sounds like you're asking for a discount on het pieds or pieds because they will be for an educational program. This implies that your educational program is a non-profit voluntary program, but from looking at your site this is clearly not the case.

So, unless you find someone to trade photography services for snakes in trade that's fair for both parties, why should you deserve a discount over someone else?

I'm sorry to be so harsh and skeptical, but it appears as though you're looking for a discount on snakes that you plan on using for your own financial benefit. Furthermore, many wildlife educators do not charge, or if they do they are registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations.

Pieds are not essential to my program. I said I would like to breed them to help support the educational program and also use the snakes in the educational program and also because I enjoy snakes and have wanted to breed them for some time. I chose pieds simply because I like them. They are my favorite ball python morph and more valuable than regulars and will continue to be in the future. I do not mind having a regular for the educational program, but it is not what I am currently looking for.

I never stated I was non-profit and I would never say such a thing because I am not. I did not mean to imply it either. I simply said I am starting an educational program. I have yet to find a snake educational program that isn't a for profit program. I never asked for a discount because I am non-profit. I simply gave my reasoning for wanting to breed pieds. As I stated on my website if someone wants to give me a discount because of my program, I will place an ad on my website and in promotional materials. as well as continue to give them and direct towards them what business I can. I love working with other small business as networking is key to success.

As I said, I am willing to trade all of those services as part of a payment. I don't have $5000 to spend on a snake, but I could afford less and also supply services. A photography, web design, photoshop, etc. job can easily cost the same or more than a snake, so that sort of trade would be quite fair. Also, I don't believe there is anything wrong with that or asking if people would be willing to give me a better price to help me get my educational program started, the worst they can do is say no. I would have no issue walking into a store and asking the same thing of the owner. They would get my business and an ad on my materials and possibly get more business because of that. Besides, I am not going to be making any kind of money off of it any time soon and I really wouldn't care about the money if I didn't have to eat, pay rent, etc. I love animals and want to share my passion with others.

Furthermore, I am not a wildlife educator. I never said that I was. One day I would like to be one, but I believe that you will find wild life educational programs that do charge and are for profit. Animal Junction (http://www.animaljunction.com) for example. I believe they are for-profit and they have a donations page as well.

I am looking to breed snakes and sell them to make a little money to pay my rent and get my educational program going. It is a step in the direction I want to take my life. I am sorry if you believe I misrepresented anything in my post. I hope this clears up all of your concerns.

Julia, your initial post did not read as if you were looking to pay market for the snakes and you were using your "educational program" as a reason for you receiving discounts. I believe Joshua's concerns were valid, and when I read your ad I thought the same thing.

Pieds don't cost $5k any longer and you should be able to purchase a 2008 male for around $1,200 (look through the ads here on Fauna). If you're looking for adults, yeah, expect to pay several thousand as someone else has already taken the time and work to get them to size for breeding.

Could you please tell me in what part of my post I came across as saying I was non for profit? And what the harm in asking for a discount is? They are going to help me get my educational program (why do you put it in quotation marks as if it is something else?) started and provide a way for me to support the program as I don't believe I will make enough money from the program itself to support it. I believe I stated clearly I want to breed to support the program and to support the program I have to support myself as well. I have to feed the snakes and feed myself. I did not ask for someone to donate a pied ball python to the program, I specifically said I would like to breed them as a way to support the program. As you can see I have taken the hours to build a website for the program. I am planning to continue with this program as long I can financially afford to do so. Please tell me what is misleading about my post so that I can fix it.

I didnt see anything wrong with your ad.

The other people read your ad then made false assumptions/accusations about your intentions. Based purely on their own imagination and not a damn thing more. I personally would be expecting a very humble apology from both of them.

As far as the Pieds go, I have a pair (1.1) of 2008s that I will let go for $3000.

You'd be waiting a long time for an apology for something that can be interpreted in different ways by different people. You're entitled to your opinion, Sammy, but please do not try to force it on me. :)


Julia, I think you already explained your intentions with the Pieds clearly enough (at least for me) with your response to Joshua. As I said, good luck in your search. :)

If you're looking for someone to pickup from as opposed to shipping, might want to take a look at 8Ball (this would depend on how close to the MD border you are of course and how far you are willing to travel).

Now Steph, you folks made the WRONG interpretation about the girl, the WRONG assumption about the girl. That is not an opinion. That is a fact.

And you are correct... what the hell was I thinking? You apologize for making WRONG assumptions about someone.... of course that would never happen.
 
Hey guys, lets cool it. There are no hard feelings on my part and everyone may have their opinions. If I have explained myself sufficiently for everyone then all is well. I apologize if my post sounded like I was accusing anyone of anything. That was not my intention, rather, my intention was to gain some clarification. I don't believe that Stephanie and I were the only people to get the same impression from the original post. I didn't and still don't think the OP was trying to take advantage of anyone in this situation. If she finds a deal in which her photography and web design services are traded for pieds, than that's fantastic and perfectly reasonable.

Anyways, good luck in your search and with your new business.
