In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Steps To Become Fedex Certified!!!

Sammy has got it right.

I just got all the information back for my certification a couple weeks ago. I had a little trouble getting the final paperwork cleared because the rep that was to get in touch with me must have had a problem with what I was going to be shipping. But after I got another rep to deal with it all went smoothly. It was a good thing that I started well in advance of when I thought I was going to need to ship, as it was a little time consuming and took longer than it had to. I passed the package testing on the first try by sending it just as Sammy described.

Good luck

So, is there any way to MAKE your FedEx Rep get back to you? LOL I been leaving messages all week long to try and get this all done and over with, but not a return call one. I'm getting a little pissed actually, as is the customer that's waiting on this process to get done, so I can ship his Boa to him. :shrug01:

Bet if I was to take this long to return their papers, or pay them, they'd just drop me lickety split.

You can use my account if you would like to . Let me know and I'll send you the info.

I don't know if this guy is still in charge, but he is the guy that helped me get in contact with my rep.

Thanks Bill. If she don't get to me by noon tomorrow, I'll try that.

And thanks for the offer Scott. But, I just can't see myself doing that. He knew before we had an accord that I was barely in the process for FedEx. It ain't been that long. LOL

You can always call the normal fedx service number and explain your problems and tell them you want a new rep... they should assign a new rep and patch you thru to him/her

It is still an account violation because you (the one with the actual certification) wouldn't be shipping it. That's the whole point of the certification, it's for the shipper. This was referenced in the Reptster thread as a possible reason why that got shut down.

Live Harmless Reptile Package Requirements!

I just received a useful (and rather hard to find) PDF while going through this process myself: the exact specs they require for shipping reptiles. I hadn't realized they wanted lids of cups taped or otherwise extra-secured.

Copypaste of the PDF, also attached:

PACKAGING SYSTEM
The following components are required when accepting a packaging system for live reptiles.
• Live reptile inside a primary container. If primary container is a plastic dish with a lid, the lid must be secured by the appropriate amount of additional closure (tape, rubber bands, staples, etc.) to prevent the lid from separating. “Snap-on-lids” alone are not sufficient and require additional closure. If primary container is a cloth bag, bag must be sealed (tight knot, plastic cable-tie, folded over and taped, etc.) for proper containment.
• Cloth bags used to contain reptile may not have holes, cutouts or tears.
• Void fill (foam peanuts, newspaper, shredded paper, etc.) placed on all sides of the primary container to cushion and secure the container from shifting inside of the package while in transit.
• Sturdy outer box (recommend a minimum burst strength rating of 200 lbs.) sealed with a minimum 2” wide pressure sensitive tape. Duct or electrical tape is not permitted.

Optional Additions:
• Heat/cold pack for thermal protection from outside temperature and humidity changes.
• Foam panels placed inside all six faces of box to enhance overall structural integrity of package and for additional insulation of contents. Appropriate thickness of foam should be used for different box sizes.

LABELING AND TAPING
• “(upwards arrows)” or “THIS SIDE UP” labels are recommended.
• “LIVEHARMLESSREPTILE” on two sides of the box.
• Place Airbill or POWERSHIP label on top of largest side.
• Recommend using the “H-taping method” on the top and bottom of the package as illustrated at upper left.

RESTRICTIONS
• FedEx boxes should not be used as the outer container.
• Shipments are restricted to Domestic U.S. locations via FedEx Express service only. Live animal shipments via FedEx Ground are strictly prohibited.

Well, my box is at the lab, so hopefully I'll pass their criteria. Finally got a hold of my Rep also. Just when I was about to call the other number, my phone rings.. LOL

Anyway, we'll see what they say in a while. I asked them to email me the results as well.

Gotta say, I ain't too darn impressed myself. I did all their stuff, got approved, and reptile certified, and Okay'd and all that good stuff.

But why is it you go through all there crap, pay a shipping fee to have a box inspected, waive all your rights to any claim what so ever regarding reptile shipments, and it's at the very last step they tell you that you can't ship to a residence.

WTF difference does it make? We waived all our fricken rights to a claim anyway. I've come to the conclusion that they ALL suck. Including Delta since their merger with US Airways. Morons, ALL OF THEM!

So now that I got that out of me, how do you guys get around it? I KNOW all these reptiles ain't going to businesses.

Thanks for any input.
Rick

My waiver/contract doesn't say anything about only shipping to a business, so I just ship to wherever I need to....

Sorry, I know that doesn't help you if your waiver/contract reads differently. I guess I was lucky and got certified early on prior to them standardizing their waivers.

Maybe I'll try to have my rep renegotiate my contract or something. It's worth a try. But as I read it, section "J" states pretty clearly I cannot ship to a residential address under this agreement. I think someone mentioned this in the Ripster thread too.

Rich, a lot of people get around it by having it held for pickup at the FedEx station. If it's worth anything, I've never (knock on wood) had a package delayed to or from me for shipping to a residence as opposed to a business.
