What exactly happened? Can you give everyone a little more detail about what exactly might be wrong with this snake? Who took it? Why is it missing from yours, or whomevers collection?

I traded the 50% Het. Albino Female Ball Python to some one on Craigslist. No problem 6 days later he emails me saying i sold him a sick snake and its a male.

I understand probing isnt always 100% but when more then 3 people probe it at different stages of the snakes life thats kinda hard to mess up. He also had her probed at the petstore ware we met for him to pick up the snake. But ok i guess it can happen. He says he knows its a male because he had an x-ray done.

He also said the snake had enlarged eyeballs or his eyes were twice the size of the male he put him in with. (obviously didnt QT) Fine to each there own. He said that he did blood work on the snake and its white cell count was up. So he is sick. I have only had snakes going out of my house for i would say almost a year maybe over a year nothing coming in only out. And the snakes that did come in before that were QT for 6 months at a different house.


So i tell him please show me some papers or some kind of proof of all these things. Well his friend is the vet and checked the snake out in his home. I have heard nothing about the blood work papers, or copies of the x-rays or anything else.

My first email i said i will take the snake back i would like to do x-ray/blood work all that myself to make sure everything is true. I told him i would not take what he offered as trade i would pay to have the snake shipped back to me, i also said i would pay him what i was asking for the snake.

But he then tells me i cant have the snake back because he traded with a well known breeder on the west coast for a gravid albino ball python.

I do not know who this breeder is but would like him to know the snake is possibly sick, and i would like to buy the snake back from him to do tests myself to make sure everything is ok.

Most of all i want to know the snake is ok and being taken care of. Also dont want my name tarnished because of this guy.

I have copies of every email we sent to each other on the matter. I am trying to do the right thing weather the snake is sick or not. If the snake really is sick i NEED to know i have other snakes she/he was exposed to, if not i want every one to know this guy is a liar since he says he runs a business with reptiles other reptile people who are intersted in doing business with him should be aware of what he is trying to do so they do not get scammed as well.

I think thats about it. Im just trying to do whats best for every one weather the snake is sick or not.

What big breeder would trade a gravid albino ball for a sick 50% het albino ball? That doesn't even make sense.

It might be helpful to post the email address, name, and whatever information about the person who traded a snake that they believed was sick to a breeder.

Then, when it gets moved to the BOI because a breeder received a sick snake, your butt will be covered and his intentional deception will be exposed.

I also find it interesting that he has an XRay machine at his house so that his friend, the vet, can do all the blood work and XRays there. That is way more convenient than the occasional microscope some of us have.

I smell some bad fish here.

Can't help but agree with Bill....even if ANY breeder were willing to trade off a gravid albino, I don't see them taking a 50% het on the deal. Sounds like the Craigs List person was pulling a fast one - a face to face trade, then complaints 6 days later?? And he had it probed at the place you made the trade (one would think if that was going to be done, it would have been done at the time of the trade...and blown the deal right there IF you were wrong about the sex).

It might be helpful to post the email address, name, and whatever information about the person who traded a snake that they believed was sick to a breeder.

Then, when it gets moved to the BOI because a breeder received a sick snake, your butt will be covered and his intentional deception will be exposed.

Actually, doing so would make this a BOI thread...and it would get closed immediately (well, as soon as one of the moderators saw it). It simply isn't in the correct format for that section. If a BOI thread is desired, it will have to be created separately (copy/pasting sections of the opening and explanatory posts within that thread is certainly an option).
As it stands, the OP is trying to get a message to somebody that may have received a sick snake...That person may not exist, and the snake may not be sick

I will be leaving it hear to give the guy a chance to have some one come forward.

If no one does come forward in the next couple days or if he does not email me back with the guys information i will format it properly and post it in the BOI.

Just trying to give the guy a fair chance. Im sure we are all thinking the same thing about it all but i would like to be able to say i gave the guy a chance.

As of now i honestly dont think any of the things he is saying to be true but i would like to cover everything and give every one a fair chance to say what the need to or whatever. I would also like it to be out there that i am honestly trying to do the right thing. Not to mention i dont want this guy to put any one else through this because it is not fun.

I have never had to deal with anything like this and i dont post often on fauna so i didnt know ware to put it, also i guess i read feedback and thought of the BOI. Think befor you post. lol

We met in Puyallup, WA. He was driving a older model gold Honda. With a loud exhaust. He is about 22 years old 6 foot maybe a little shorter heavy set white guy with short light brown hair. I also have a phone number for him but dont want to post that. He signs he emails J&L JIGS. He says he works at a fish hatchery in Tacoma WA.

Well, now that THAT line has been crossed, this thread is in limbo...in content - having named the person, and provided his email, location, description, etc, and described the transaction in detail - it belongs on the BOI. However, since it isn't in the appropriate format, it can't really be there. At the same time, the discussion can't really be continued someplace else.
